Both Danity Kane (Danity Kane) and Kelis (Kelis Was Here) are dropping new CDs today. But what else hits shelves today and what is actually worth the money?
Other new music to check out includes Luther Vandross (The Ultimate Luther Vandross), Prince (Ultimate), Outkast (Idlewild) and J Dilla (The Shining -- which features a lil something by D'Angelo).
No disrespect to Dream, Babs, Choppa and them, but why do I feel like Danity Kane is the first band Diddy really put some effort into forming. Let's hope the three seasons of toiling on MTV pays off and the ladies of DK actually make an impact. Let's hope they will be remembered for more than stinky faces and boom boom kats.

"The Velvet Teddy Bear" Ruben Studdard has a little something brewing as well. I am not so thrilled about Ruben. He has no vocal range what so ever. But according to this track... ain't no party like a Ruben Studdard party.

The whole album is like 80s inspired. I like it a lot. The weird thing is different news outlets are reporting different days of release. MTV news is reporting that Kelis doesn't drop til 9/12/06.
I like the MONICA song. I don't think everything she does has to be so prolific. She did the song for fun. She said she did it b/c she is from ATL and wanted to have a snap song out for summer. But, the tracks from her album are sounding like good ol' monica to me. That said, JONSEY can have her opinion. Everyone has an asshole afterall.
Tasty was rushed and you can tell she was trying ot get away from the Phareezy. Now she is experiencing problems at this label. They put Fuck them Bitches on the lp and she did not want that song on this cd. I think she needs to go independent if she wants full creative control.

To be honest even though I am from the south, this new snap bullshit is gettin on my nerves. I never was a big fan of it to begin with and I would have never thought it would turn into a style of music. Dont get me wrong, our music talks about how we live, which consist of a lot of kickin it, but its the delivery that is trash. 8ball and MJG, UGK, and all the other southern greats talked about kickin it bu they also brought a message behind it. These new cats is making the south seem SLOW! Which is far from the truth...
Then when combine somebody like Monica with these new cats that are destroying hip hop it just makes the situation worse. Monica was a hood chick with a voice that always had something deep to say. That's why she overstepped Brandy when she first came out...Now its like Monica is desperately trying tofind her lane..Im pretty sure she got plenty of real life shit to talk about considering she used to roll with C-Murder and now she got a baby..She need to talk about adult shit..That's what hiphop/r&b is missing..

I'm surprised she hasn't. She is waay too out the box for most majors I would think, and with all the stuff she's been through in the past, I would think that would make the most sense, then she could do her, and cater to her core audience...
I don't like Ms. Sippin on Bubblee myself...but she does have a point. If you are making a supposed comeback then why make some loose stool like "Everytime the beat Drop" That should have been left for mixtape distribution only.
If KELIS went independant, she would wash up. She barely sells now. And that is with the label's marketing/promotions. She should just sit tight.

I'm all for new things. I think some of the songs I have heard that are "snap" are horrible. But, there are some that get me moving. I'm not going to sit here and front just to get a cosign either. I like some and I hate some. Just like in Rap, just like in RnB.

I agree. People laugh at Brandy and Ray J for doing the independent thing, but they make and will make so much more money on the Knock Out Entertainment label than he would if he released his latest project on a major.

I seriously doubt Brandy will do that..She always comes back hard.. and not really follow trends..That Afrodisac album was good..they just didnt know how to market it. Brandy has dumbed herself down as an artist, but she did look dumb when the funk hit the fan about her being a jumpoff. i think that in the new album, she is gonna talk about that and the pain she went through. From looking at Brandy I can see her growth as a women. (I disagree on them hairstyles though) Monica still is backsliding, first you grown and now you doing snap music..

Nah seriously, the CD doesnt come out until Dec 26 but I have heard a few cuts and I love them. The single he has out right now is my favorite song at the moment. Gotta love that Luther sample.
I think danity kane will do sohh better than the other MTB groups diddy had because they have a large fanbase already. Haven't heard kelis but if I hear it I probally like it.

Something is off with that mix. The vocals stick out too much from the rest of the mix.

She sounds good on the track. I can see that getting burn in the clubs no problem.

Very smooth vocal. Has some 'bass' in his voice. No Ray J/Ralph Tresvant whine.
Hopefully all that legal stuff is behind him(being robbed by his manager), and he can get back to makin music. Cuz he's one of the few 'young guys' in the biz that actually sounds like his balls have dropped.
