June 19th is the day Janet's new single "Call On Me" featuring Nelly from her upcoming CD, 20 Years Old, hits radio. Preparations are being made in the Jackson camp to properly launch her new project. She was spotted recently in Miami where she shot what she calls a "super sexy" cover for Vibe Magazine and a new video.
By now everyone has seen the new photos. The whites got US Weekly and the blacks got JET! Janet is covering her ground. I would like to see her camp step it up on the internet though. SOHH now that my bootleg cable has been properly installed, I have been checking out the BET spinoff channel, BETJ. Yesterday I got caught up on all my 'alternative R&B' as they called it. I saw videos by Dwele, Isley Brothers, Amel Larrieux, Corrine Bailey Rae... you know all the videos that would rarely make "106 & Park." Before I knew it, BETJ was on for like 4 full hours up in my crib, which is a hell of a lot longer than I can stand the regular BET channel. The only reason why I changed the channel was for a dose of "Sucker Free Sunday" on that other network.
Since we can't go a whole entry without mentioning Beyonce, check out her performances at a Wal Mart Shareholders meeting. Right a Wal Mart Shareholders meeting. She ain't stupid. Wal Mart is the largest retailer and homegirl has a new CD on the way. Are these the marketing synergies that Papa Knowles loves referring to? And where were the rest of the girls?
Lastly... Cheri Dennis. Her track featuring Jim Jones (DIPSET!) and them is hot. It's good to finally see her getting her props, but what is it about her that's not poppin off? Check the video, it's like her stylist forgot to apply the "it" factor. And why do all the girls from Making the Band 3 show up in the video except Aubrey? Hmmmmm.

AUBREY is in the video. She is towards the end in a dark blue shirt. I had to slow it down to catch it. But she's there. CHERI DENNIS could be good, but she doesn't have anything spectacular about her. She better get it going, because CASSIE is coming and is gonna shut it down over at Badboy. Yeah I peeped the MTB3 missing cameo too, but I thought maybe they just showed her real fast and I missed it. BET actually has some pretty intelligent programming on Sunday mornings like "Meet the Faith". They have also been addressing issues facing our commnity on "The Chop Up" and other programming. Hell, maybe they'll even bring back "Teen Summit" and the news programming. I'll give them the benifit of the doubt. I think BET may realize that they have some competition with TV1. TV1 shows some real good programs concerning the black community AND they show the old "Blackspoitation" flicks from back in the day. Shit, this weekend alone they played "Willy Dynomite", "Hell up In Harlem", "New Jack City" and some other flick with Fred "The Hammer" Williamson. BET needs to step it up!!
