Iin the meantime, we'd like to point your attention to more of the hoopla that surrounds Dreamgirls. Remember during cast selection, there was this great debate over whether or not American Idol favorite Fantasia should play the role Jennifer Holiday made famous in the Broadway show. After all the drama Jennifer Hudson was selected. Back then I thought it was all political. I am sure Fanny's showboating and golden pipes would have been a huge success.
Over the weekend I learned that Jennifer Holiday makes an appearance in the movie playing the mother of Effie (her original role). Apparently, the directors kill off Effie (Jennifer Hudson) only to have Jennifer Holiday sing "And I Am Telling You" over Effie's dead body in the film. Ain't that some shit. Would that have happened had Fanny been offered the role? Did the lead Dreamgirl have anything to do with that?
I haven't seen the flick yet, so of course all of this is hear say. But check the trailer. That's Jennifer Holiday's voice.

I think they put Jennifer Hudson in the movie because Beyonce doesn't have any competition with the other 2 girls they are unknown by the viewing public at large. This is goign to be Beyonce's movie, we all know that. I wish Jennifer and the other girl the best, but Fantasia would have given Beyonce some real competition because homegirl has a big following and an incredible voice.

They would have had to work very hard for her to overshadow Fantasia. Sure, it could be done but it would have taken a lot of EXTRA work on their part to hide fantasia's talent. Both girls can sang. And they both have improved their singing since AI3. After all it's been two years. It's funny that Fantasia and Jennifer are friends, yet their fans tend to tear at each other's throats.

No, I haven't seen it. But I do know that everytime I've seen Jennifer in interviews it is SHE who is raving over Beyonce, "oh beyonce's my favorite singer, I can't believe I'm here with her, blah blah blah". I just wish she'd stop acting like she's beyonces fan girl and act like a co actor instead. I do believe when this movie is released, unless Jennifer stops playing second fiddle and acting as if she's still star struck -- after all these months of working with Beyonce she ought be over her by now.
