Say what you will about Amerie, but somehow she keeps you looking and wondering what's next. Amerie banged out one of the hottest hits last year with "1 Thing", SOHH I didn't give my usual screw face when I heard she was back in the studio. According to vibe.com, who Amerie spoke exclusively with about her new project, the album is titiled "None of the Above". You gotta admit that title is hot. "A" had this to say about the new project:
"It's called None of The Above because I feel like as people we never like to be in boxes and myself, I never like to feel like I'm categorized. "Everyone is always trying to put me in a box, as far as growing up, ethnicity-wise and racially like 'What Am I?' 'What do I think I'm more of?'"I feel like with this album, I really got to have fun and create a lot of different things."
"I mean I just create music. I just do my thing," said Amerie. "It (the new album) goes from like '70s funk to the '80s music that we all grew up listening to and I just meshed it all together with my signature style."
This summer/fall music scene is gonna be hot for the females. You got Amerie, Janet, Beyonce, Monica, Brandy, Christina Aguilera and quite a few others who plan to duke it out on the charts this year.

One thing I can say about Amerie is that hr albums have been consistent. The way she executes her background vocals on her albums has kept me intrigued with her hopeless romantic style. On the other hand, she CAN'T sing live. Her live performances have been HORRID. She is the deifinition of a studio singer, in my opinion...
I have never been a fan of Bey's acting but I think Dreamgirls is probably gonna be really good.
I liked "1 Thing" too but to be honest, I expected to hate everything that came after it. Amerie is good for that opening single but then she cant keep up the momentum. Third time's a charm though, so ya never know.
I like Amerie, she's not the best vocalist in the world, but like dude said before me her albums have been consistent. As far as Dreamgirls. I swear sohh is the ONLY place that talks about this movie. I'm telling you most people don't care/know about this movie. I'm a fan of B's music, but when it comes to acting. Ahhhh not so much. Just look at her resume: Carmen, Austin Powers, Fighting Temptations. Oh yeah and I definitely lookinf forward to all of those young ladies' albums.

"one thing" was in the race for song of 2005 along with "hate it or love it", "stay fly", & "goldigger". she has been puttin it down since 2002 and i just love her. what i would give to put my hands on her thighs.

caff, shut up you have no idea what you are talking about. Amerie is the best contemporary R&B singer period and has one of the best voices vocally. Her voice is very unique, her music is original, and she herself is different. She adds flava and style to her music. I love the DC feel her music has. The beats have that pure R&B, jazz, hip-hop feel that get you moving. Amerie's album "Touch" was a follow up from her first album "All I Have." I like how her albums have the same vibe going on but aren't too similar. Amerie can so sing live. She sounds just like how she does on the CD. She hits all the right notes and can move/dance very well while singing. She has attitude, potential, energy, and a lovely, powerful, high pitched voice. She's a hella lot better than all these female out here who can't sing, Christina Milian, Rihanna...

i have both of amerie's albums and they're pretty good, but her albums always bomb for some reason. she may not have a voice like bey or xtina, but it's a very unique voice which i like. sure bey's acting has usually run the gamut from point A to B, but from the trailer and clips, i've seen of dreamgirls, it looks like she's changing for the better acting-wise. it looks like it will be another bey-filled year w/ her 2nd cd, dreamgirls, and the doundtrack. but i'm really amped up for my ivory soul chick, xtina. she's working with some real, producers and i hope she finally gets the R&B credibility she so deserves. i love me some janet as well, but i'm hoping it's better than damito jo or all for you.

I feel todays crop of artist are not artist at all but media darlings. You can take an average looking women, below average talent and combine it with a multi-billion dollar media machine and you can produce the equivalent of Aretha, Whitney, Diana Ross. These women are all seen as forerunners rather than the standard by which your are should be measured. Yes beyonce can hit a note, Janet has a great relationship with the camera and Amerie is the exotic, mystery type like Sade. But is this top talent. I like entertainment but artistry keeps me searching for the next great one. Like hip-hop does for Pac. I am still waiting for the next big one...it may be Rihanda or what ever her name is. But B should stick to fashion and music. Her acting skills should be strictly in sci-fi or comedy. When you do drama you can't force it she seems to be constipated when acting. I kinda agree with most. I think Beyonce has no acting skills and she looks dumb as hell trying to act in this movie. However, I have also heard that her acting is a hell of a lot better and that she may be oscar nominated. Probably not for her talent but because she is "Beyonce." First of all no one can test Beyonce in vocal, dancing and all round talent so there is no point in comparing Amerie to her!!!!! But i do give Amere her props she alsways does something different, as if we all forgot Touv=ch was mad sexy! and 1 thing kept girls (weather they could or couldnt sing) hollering at the top of their voices for months, so big ratings and im sure her next album will be just as exciting.
