Thanks to some glitch in the matrix, our interview with Jaheim never hit the internet. But don't fret my pets, we'll get it up one day this week. In the meantime we can revel in Jaheim claiming the #1 spot on Billboard with his third cd Ghetto Classics.
When you check the names of Jaheim's first two cds Ghetto Love and Still Ghetto you quickly see a theme emerging. Jaheim is ghetto. And after 152,000 sold it's a good thing. In our interview, Jaheim's responses were filled with one liners, nothing as eloquent as found on his new cd but hey we take what we can get.
Mario on the other had is looking for less hip hop influence and more soulful yearnings on his new cd. Apparently he has enlisted Jermaine Dupri, Alicia Keys, Neyo (who wrote on "Let Me Love You") and a ton of others to be on his next cd. Thankfully there was no mention of Jamie Foxx.
And speaking of Mr. Foxx instead of casting his new love interest Gabrielle Union as the lead in his new video, he went with CoverGirl Eva Pigford. Not a bad choice. Ms. Pigford will be featured in the video for "DJ: Play A Love Song". Watch footage here.
The "soulful transition for Mario shouldn't be difficult at all. Any r&b head can vouch for me when I say that his last cd was definitly a a step closer towards making music with more substance than flair. Hookin up with producers the Underdogs (see Glenn Lewis) is proof that he knows what he's doing. Let me Love You was a cool song and all that, but listen to tracks like, "Couldn't Say No" and "Like Me Real Hard". On these cuts Mario's songwriting is refreshingly deep and mature. Analyzing the unspoken subtleties of relatinoships rather than the general "baby I love you" or baby i miss you" bullshit. Dont sleep on dude.

Mario? Well, I think his better tracks were on his first album. "Braid My Hair", "Chick With The Braids" and "Just A Friend" make me feel all summer-y. I don't care for the "Im-Tryna-Be-Grown-And-Sexy-Look". Though he did look extremely hansome last year in that black suit. Very nice touch.
