The official SOHH Soulful album review.
Jamie Foxx can sing and his new cd titled Unpredictable is... good. Me and the interns here at SOHH Soulful stay up on it enough to be able to recognize talent when it wins and Oscar and forces us to sit through it's childhood dream of having number one album on the Billboard charts. Jamie, consider yourself recogninzed.
The title track and first release features Ludacris. Luda bounces and flows so effortlessly over the track it almost seems like it's Ludacris featuring Jamie Foxx singing the hook. Jamie describes his work with Ludacris similarly to that of Batman & Robin. We assumed Ludacris was Batman and Jamie was actually an extra on the set kept around for appeal kind of like Catwoman.
"DJ Play A Love Song" features Twista and the two successfully ride the beat exemplifying the sped up, sing-songy style Twista has become known for. The same holds true for his collaborations with Snoop ("With You"), Mary J. Blige ("Love Changes") and Common("U Still Got It" ). They are all good songs, they just sound like so and so featuring Jamie Foxx.
Unpredictable carries several high powered collaborations without sounding too youth driven and out of place. Most would feel comfortable knockin' this entire cd out the trunk as well as during some R. Kelly style baby making.
Unfortunately that is about the only R. Kelly comparison that can be made about Jamie's Unpredictable. Although it surpasses the creativity, production, songwriting and concept found on 1994's Peep This , we here at SOHH stiill feel bamboozled. Jamie doesn't have a signature style. On this cd he sounds like Trey Songz, Sisqo, John Legend, Brian McKnight, Jesse Powell, Bobby Valentino and Ray Charles.
Just like his near perfect impressions of the musical legend in Ray, Jamie is still acting on Unpredictable, however it's not a bad mixtape to play pretend with.
Why can't he just stay on comedy central and stop bitching?

Damn "stop hating" is so overrated. Because people opinions doesn't match yours doesn't mean they are hating. Anyway, Jamie needs to find his own voice. He needs to find his own sound he needs to be original. Hell yeah he can sing but that's not the issue at hand. When I first heard unpredictable I didn't know who the it was. And you're right Jamie has been out quite longer than these other cats so why I still can't pick out his voice?????? But I noticed the song had alot of R.Kelly flair ex. The end of Jamie's chorus (I'm a make you feel like blah blah blah blah blah) sounds exactly like (we began to dance slow put your arms around me I'm feelin on your booty). Another example when Jamie says (When it comes to love making you need a real visionary??). He sounded so eerily similar to R.Kelly on that part that I thought he was going to say next (momma rolling that body got every man in here wishing). When you hear Mary J. there's no question. When you hear Fantasia there's no question. When you hear Beyonce there's no question. When you heard Luther THERE WAS NO QUESTION. Jamie is very talented but he needs to establish a tone of voice that sets him apart from other male singers and that's the honest truth.

Everyone knows that Jamie NO.1 DREAM IS TO BE A SINGER. Acting was just the first door that opened for him. They asked him which would be more valuable to him, his Oscar or winning a Grammy and he said winning a Grammy. So I think he would classify himself as a singer. He takes singing very seriously and Trey Songz R.Kelly or whoever has nothing to do with the movie Ray. He needs to find his OWN VOICE to set him apart from other singers. Just like people criticize rappers for not being original for not having their own style their own voice ex. would be Lil Wayne copying Jay-Z flow. Singing is the same exact way. You keep experimenting until you find your own Niche like Toni Braxton or Anita Baker Arethea Franklin Whitney Houston. These voices stand out. The voices express the ORIGINALITY OF THE ARTISTS. And that's what he needs.
Jamie Foxx sounds like Carl Thomas on "Extravaganza". I thought it was Carl when I first heard it. I haven't heard the rest of the album.

Most R&B artist sound alike. That's why I don't buy that many R&B albums, I just listen to their singles that they put out. Cause you know when it comes to albums, it's like the same songs on other people's albums.
Boy Ray J was copying Usher to me on that video for "One Wish". That's my favorite song but it's kind of Usherish( Yes I know that is not a word, just work with me).
Jaime's first album was excellent. That was the real Jaime, but it didn't sell and people are still dissing it. So after ten years he figured out that he needs to go with current trends and sound like everyone else. I have only heard the first single, but I am not feeling it at all. It's not him and it doesn't show off his vocal ability. But in the end whether I like it or not I am glad he is getting the recognition he deserves for his god-given talent. The boy can sing.

Jaime Foxx is an incredible talent. I wish I could have caught his show when it was on. I have caught it in sydication. That show is the funniest show that has aired in my memory. He seemed to use the script to guide him. I saw the cast interviewed. They were all in awe of his raw natural comedic talent. They said the things that when they were filming the episodes were funnier because of him than what was supposed to be aired. I started watching the outtakes while the credits rolled because of that. I heard that the show is now on dvd. I was caught by a piece of 'Ray' while was visiting my sisters house. He has that on lock. Then he can hit the studio and sing better than hella cats. That's real. I don't give @fuck who makes what. Credit is due where credit is due. I think 'I Need Security' is the funniest stand up I have ever seen.

No matter how much I try to be a follower/zombie/sheep and listen to this album, my ears wont allow something so mediocre to play all the way through without ejecting the cd and tossing some real R&B in. Like I said before and Ill say it again, JFoxx doesnt have a "full album voice". Hes good enough to be a featuring artist and thats it.
