Ole girl proved she was big in '05. It was the perfect way to pass the torch to Mary J. Blige, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson and Beyonce all of who either have new releases happening in the next few months or have just released an album.
Word on the street is that Blackground/Universal is repackaging Toni Braxton's last misguided album, Libra, with 4 new songs and a bigger budget to promote the six time Grammy Award winning artist. If Mariah's reign is an indication that the divas of the early 90's have returned then Toni might actually have a chance.

I don't know about Mariah, but seeing and hearing Dick Clarke like that was sad. I don't know if it was his ego or what but that was some of the most "uncomfortable" shit I've ever witnessed on live TV.
Everyone of these females can hold their own, I wish all of them the best in their careers, but if you want to cop some good sounds pick up that Toni Braxton cd, I have never waste money buying anything that girl puts out.

Blackground really should've pushed her album more, because just TV appearances (she's done a lot more this time than her previous) aren't gonna help her sell records alone. She needs more radio and video spins.
"Please" was a nice intro, a little like Mariah's "It's Like That", while Toni's second single "Trippin (That's The Way Love Works)" should've been her BIG hit off this album. It's an excellent album, one of the best R&B albums of 2005.
Congrats to Toni, though, for the nice performance on today's Rose Parade, as well as last week's 96% sales increase for "Libra".
Mariah had some major elastic holding her dress together. I'm suprised she was even able to sing let alone breathe. Dick clark hold your head up. He and regis are the ultimate hustlers. Them dudes been pimping the same events for decades.

I definately agree that Toni's style of dress is a bit inappropriate, she don't need to do that, her talent speaks for her.
I think the problem is the older divas i.e. Toni, Mariah, Janet, and sometimes Mary feel like they have to keep up with the younger divas or keep up with the everchanging landscape of R&B. In some coming years, Beyonce and who's ever around will have the same problem. Beyonce is the "it girl of R&B" right now, but eventually someone else will take her place. It's like now everyone is compared to or made to look like Beyonce. Before Bee everyone who came out looked like or was compared to Mary J. (Amerie, Sharissa, Faith, Jaguar, etc.)

I sooooo agree!!! Mariah has that crossover complexion... I love me some Toni, and after seeing her in person this summer, I have an even greater appreciation for her. She looked sooo good and sounded great. Her body is tight, make-up is flawless, and you can feel that she is actaully happy...even with a "misguided" album. She has been adding more and more clothes to her wardrobe, while maintaining her sexiness. I hope that they do repackage Libra, and give it the promotion that it desearves. It is truly one of the best Albums she has had since the Heat!!! Age aint nothing but a number...
Toni Braxton's album is excellent! I just hope that her record label realizes this before the album run its course. I hope that the album is re-released with the (4) additional cuts, because the (10) on it now is banging. Blackground needs to release another video and have her perform on OPRAH. ORPAH IS THE KEY!!! Mariah Carey is not too thick! She's 38 years old now and looks amazing! I do agree that sometimes she does a bit too much with her outfits but unlike Toni Braxton, Mariah Carey can get away with that because of her amazing voice and bangin songs! Don't get me wrong, Toni can sang also but not as good as Mariah. I also don't know why Toni is trying to be this sexy R&B singer who's trying to prove that she can keep up with these young girls!
