Can someone explain to us all the hoopla around the Jamie Foxx/NBC Music Special? We are getting emails, faxes and instant messgaes that say the following...

NBC is not doing any marketing & publicity on Jamie's Music Special on NBC because he stood his ground and didn't have any white guest (performers) to perform with as they requested. To make it even worse he had two controversial guest stars, that do not fit the "NBC profile" on his show. Tune in to find out who they are. They are purposely putting his show up against the second week of American Idol in hopes that it will fail.
It went on to say how this will be the first time NBC aired an all urban/black telecast blah blah blah.
HMMMM somthing smells fishy. We here at SOHH Soulful aren't quite convinced. We think Jamie is barking up the wrong tree. We also think that if he toured like regular folks he wouldn't have to conjure up music specials and such. He's no Sammy Davis Jr or Dean Martin so these over zealous attempts to feed us this album need to be scaled back. Besides, most of America would be watching American Idol despite who he had on his lil music special. Simmer downah!

Jamie Probably will tour...think about it "Soulful"...He's not gonna be able to get all the celebs to go on tour with him...so why not do a tv special to get the full effect of the album? This Rumor is all over myspace bulliens as well. I recieved an e-mail about a few days ago and on it went. Who knows but I will say this I didn't even know Jamie Foxx had a show due on NBC this week till I got the e-mail that the mann was trying to bring a brother down.
I heard not a peep about the show till the e-mail surfaced.
Last night was the only time I saw the ad for the show.

Jamie Fox is the man ever since "In Living Color" I've admired his success in the entertainment business(it's no easy task and it takes alot of dedication and motivation to succeed in Hollywood and on the Radio) and he's finally broke through on the radio. That's an achievement that not too many artist/actors accomplish. He started off as a stand up comedian and worked his way up the ladder. In Living Color gave the chance for many of their cast to shine beyond a sketch-based comedy show (ex. Jamie Foxx, Damon Wayans, Keenan Ivory Wayans, Kim Wayans, JIM CARRIE!!!, David Allen Grier, and Tommy Davidson). They're all good actors and comedians but Jamie Foxx rose above them all and came out with a few appearances in movies and even starred in his own movies like the controversial movie 'Redemption', a great collabo with Tom Cruise in 'Collateral', his award winning film 'Ray', his hilarious movie 'Booty Call' and other movies he's appeared/starred in.
Now for him to get his little spot on NBC so he can showcase his talent to the people that might never see him in concert; is a great idea even if he doesn't include someone that is not his own race. NBC needs to get their head out of their asses and let the show BE. They're (nbc) are makin a big deal out of this(i would have never known that Jamie didn't include a white person). I would have never known that this was an "issue" if NBC didn't point it out. I mean you don't see people complaining that the sitcom '7th Heaven' didn't include someone that is a different race in their shows, and they've been around for 10 seasons (i'm not sayin they didn't but they weren't in the cast or last more than a season), Or that the O.C.(on Fox)or FRIENDS (NBC) didn't include a person of color in there cast. The claims of NBC trying to sabotage his show . . . i don't know about that, because at the end of the day seeing as how they are the network they could really just choose to not show it at all. Jamie's musical special was like no other that I've ever seen on network television. Regardless of the motivation behind putting together a show like this, I'm SO happy the show made it's way to primetime TV. It was so refreshing to see Black people expressing themselves in such a moving and emotional way versus the garbage we're used to seeing on BET and MTV.
