I've been wondering where the hell Ashanti has been these past few months. With lawsuits, label switches and a ton of Ashanti clones hitting the airwaves, where has the Princess of Hip Hop Soul been? (now, y'all know I don't really believe Ashanti is the Princess of Hip Hop Soul). Well apparently chica has been hawking her perfume line to the many misguided young ladies that aspire to not only be like Ashanti.... but smell like her too.
You'll recall the last time we heard from Ashanti she was coughing up $630,000 to a producer that her mom struck a deal with years ago. Well I guess she is recoopin' her losses with the release of Precious Jewel, her perfume line.
In other news, there is this new singer out on Warner Brothers called Cruna. Now of course that isn't his real name and of course he has some tragic history which seems to be a requirement for a record deal. His parents are big in the church and like Lyfe Jennings he went wayward and spent some time behind bars before getting his life together and singing from his soul.
His new single Hustla'z Love Story is suppose to hit stores this fall.

Im not hating or anything but.Why was ashanti named the princess of hip hop/r&b? SHe cannot sing if her life depended on it..even mary j blige who is the queen(who deserved it) thought it shouldnt have been given to her. Ashanti used to make good music like her first album that album was good but chapter 2 and concrete rose they sucked i thought she culd have did better.The only ashanti clone out here that i see is tearria marie everbody else doing they own lil thing.Maybe ashanti will make a comeback but if you ask me i think she should give up signing lol and just stick to acting cuz she's a preety good actor.
I actually like Concrete Rose, still listening to it. Much success Ashanti and keep shaking the haters off.
Also, the princess label came from Irv and Ja just like Jay is calling Tierra the new princess and Jazzy Pha is calling Ciara the queen of Crunk N B it's no biggie. Rappers will always boast that they have the best in their camp.

LOL @ the Ashanti clones. None of the girls are trying to be like Ashanti because she has no style of her own. How can anybody clone her when she is a clone herself. She has cloned artist from Mary J. Blige to Beyonce. She hasn't done anything original. Everything she is doing from her music to this fragrance, celebs has done before her.
I agree with "The Truth", Ashanti never had a style of her own, she cloned Beyonce from the start, check the Vibe awards, "04". Olivia came out way before Ashanti, J.Records, and they dropped her from the label because she wasn't marketable.
Note: I do not like Ashanti at all and I do feel that there is to much hype behind her however.............
Olivia does sound EXACTLY like Ashanti in that song (So Sexy). She sounds horrible. From the beat to the video is straight Ashanti. Yes Olivia was out a long time ago with 'bizounce' but compare her sound back then to the sound she has now. She souned alot better back in the day. Her songs are garbage. Complete garbage. From "Row Row Row your boat" to this bogus Ashanti impersonation. She needs to cut ties with people (G-Unit) who just want to pimp her for her looks and body and actually make an album from the heart.
Ashanti is a very pretty talented young lady who everyone seems to hate on because of her success. Remember this leave her alone and stop hating on her and the other Black young girls out there doing their things because Ashanti is a star and you are not. My girl is making her money the honest way and we should support her and all the other Black artists out there. If our the Black people would bond together we would be the strongest people in American and anywhere else. I will always support her because she is Black like me. I really love her music and her music lifts me up. I love her.
Now let's be for real. Ashanti is just another pretty face and no SINGING talent. Now she can act, I will give her that. But all of yall talking about her CD, go see her live, she sounds like pure crap. PERIOD. Not a hater just a realist. Don't play the race card, that is so weak. She should not have that title, but like previous have mentioned, it is just a marketing scheme, don't take it personally LOL!

Oliva doesn't sound anything like Ashanti on the song. Now the video is very much a copy of Rock Wit You. No denying that. G-Unit set her up on that one. But other than that, she is nothing like Ashanti.
Please remember how Ashanti bit Janet Jackson's Love Will Never Do Without You video in the Rock Wit You video. The scene with her dancing on the beach with the dude was taken from Janet. And remember that the beat and feel of Rock Wit You is damn near idential to Aaliyah's Rock the Boat. Ashanti copied Aaliyah's singing style, concept and everything. It was like she was trying her best to make a part II. Ashanti was even doing the same moves in the video as Aaliyah. Again, Ashanti has done nothing but impersonate other artist. she impersonated Mary on her first to albums. And on her latest flopped, she switched up her whole style - visually and musically - to channel Beyonce.
ill be the first to admit that ashanti does not have the singing ability like beyonce, keyshia cole, fantasia BUT her songs are hot, the hooks are catchy and her look is very marketable. i dont feel as if she's trying to copy anyone's style. i truly feel that tiearra mari and olivia are trying to imitate ashanti. check out olivia's new video so sexy, it is rock wit u all over again.
