Independent hip-hop's premier festival is only on the West Coast. The third annual Paid Dues Festival, founded and organized by Murs, is only a a few days away and we thought we'd give y'all unadventurous ignoramuses a quick lesson on who's playing and why.
(Quick side note, should "unadventurous ignoramuses" officially replace "cookie cutters" as the preferred nick name of the SOHH Left Coast commenters?)
* Murs: You guys have clowned M-U-R-S in the past, but this Warner Brothers rapper might just be your little sister's favorite rapper by the end of this year. Part of the Living Legends (click here for your history), he represents witty rap that isn't afraid to stray from the beaten path, while be capable of beating you up, too.
* Sage Francis: This guy was writing about Bush f**kery only one month after 9/11. Out of Providence, Rhode Island, Sage Francis is either your favorite rapper or least favorite rapper. There is no middle ground.
* Little Brother: These Carolina cats courted controversy when BET famously said they were too smart for their format (to paraphrase, of course). They've since lost 9th Wonder, who's producing for Jay-Z and Beyonce these days, but Phonte and Big Pooh more than hold their own.
* Jedi Mind Tricks: One of the most veteran indie-rap acts, Jedi Mind Tricks were making independent rap for nearly a decade before every third cookie cutter was a MySpace rapper. It's challenging--and occasionally demented--rap for an unchallenged society.
* Living Legends: They're new album is gonna be bonkers. More to come on that, too.
* Dilated Peoples: If you guys don't know Evidence, Babu and Rakaa then you ain't hip-hop.
* Hieroglyphics: Oakland's Hiero crew--comprised of A Plus, Del, Casual, Opio, Domino, Pep Love, Phesto, Tajai and Toure--are a talented group of producers, DJs and MCs who spit in the face of compartmentalization. Don't box them in.
Other acts include Visionaries outta LA, the legendary Boot Camp Clik, Kool Keith, Yak Ballz and more. Check out Paid Dues, at the NOS Center in San Bernardino, CA, on March 22.

i liked the format of the Cd ... and the energy Kurupt and Daz put in was pretty good (especially track 2)...
Any most of the songs have that classic Snoop Signature mark ... but its pretty obvious where some of the more RnB songs are concerned .... that Snoop used song writers.
But its aite .. maybe worth the 7.99 special.

Spider Loc is a sub-par rapper and need to step it up, (not that game is much better, but he is) but Spider is real in the streets. Him dropping a major album with a huge push and him being on Games level will never ever happen.
