This is not a disrespectful post directed at Power 106's DJ Felli Fel, aka LA's most powerful radio DJ. I respect that Felli Fel is self-producing his entire album and his show knocks pretty well, however, he's a glaring symptom of the West Coast's problems. Shouldn't LA's biggest DJ have at least one West Coast rapper on his big budget debut single?
As (seemingly always) NahRight has the video (and that wack Yahoo! player won't embed here). "Get Buck In Here" features Diddy, Ludacris, Lil Jon, Akon, really bad animation, and not one Left Coast rapper. I don't blame Felli Fel--that's a line-up that, on paper, should sell a few ringtones. (Even if I can't see it going anywhere.) And as the debut single on his debut artist's album coming out of Def Jam, it's ignorant to think he'd put a cut out with verses from Glasses Malone and Bishop Lamont (I love those dudes, but they're not visible like Luda and Diddy). He's trying to make money, not friends...but here's the thing...
Felli Fel isn't from LA. He grew up in ATL and started his career in Dallas. Even so, he's put on Hot Dollar, who happens to be one of the better rappers out here. LA's the second biggest market in the country and he's obviously climbed close to the top. Good for Felli Fel; I don't blame him. I blame Emmis Communications. They own Power 106...as well as 20+ other stations (including two in Terra Haute, Indiana....maybe Hate Hate and More Hate could fill us in on his hometown radio?). They don't care about the community of Los Angeles.
So here's the question, should they? Should Emmis Communications work harder to put local DJs and artists on the air?

The reason why LA's WestCoast gangbanging lyrics and swagger isnt working anymore is because the cost of travel has lowered and everyone has seen other parts of the world. I own a westcoast based DJ company, the FreshCoast DJs. I make it a point to play half my set with westcoast music. Bay area, L.A., long beach, we have enuf hits and hot new songs no one gets to hear.
