Before I talk about anything else on this SOHH Left Coast, I just want to say that the racist bulls**t that was popping off in the comments section yesterday was one of the most disappointing displays I’ve seen in my life. I have a really hard time believing that adult human beings could really go back and forth like that trying to justify and argue ignorant-ass views, but some of you proved me wrong yesterday. How f**king played out is racism? It seems like tolerance and the appreciation of different cultures would be something that you pick up as a toddler, like, I dunno... tying your own shoes or brushing your teeth every day.
I keep trying to give the human race the benefit of the doubt, but it seems like at least one person comes along every day in some aspect of life and shows me that people as a whole are stupid as f**k. Thanks to everyone who took some time out of their day yesterday to reinforce that. Some of you dumbf**ks must’ve not gotten enough attention from your parents or something, because that mindframe is completely confusing to me... This was a blog about a catchy fluff hip hop song, and yet someone was spiteful enough to warp the discussion into some kind of lame internet race riot.
I know racism exists; it’s obviously still prevalant in the news, and in everyday experiences. But I can’t for the life of me understand why my generation would want to perpetuate it, practice it, and teach it. Sometimes there are some really gratifying discussions that go on in here, and it makes me actually like having this little side job. But yesterday was a perfect example of why I get tired of doing this on an almost weekly basis and contemplate quitting so that I don’t have to have to deal with childish internet thugs on a daily basis.
Shame on everyone who took part in that ignorant diatribe yesterday, and shame on your parents for doing such a sh**ty job of raising you. Hopefully everyone who posted those dumbass comments yesterday is sterile, because the last thing this world needs is unfit mothers and fathers teaching impressionable young minds the practice of hatred.
In the meantime, I deleted all of the comments from yesterday’s blog. Anyone who said some stupid s**t yesterday, grow the f**k up before you comment on this blog again.

That is a very broad statement. In my hood in NJ blacks and latinos live together and consider ourselves the same. Granted Mexicans are new to the mix, but give it a generation and they will be viewed the same as puerto ricans and other latinos...poor like us. Truth be told, I think growin up in Sac (the world's most diverse city according to "Time" magazine) hella got me used to being around and understanding a huge variety of races. 80, u gotta take into account that these other less educated cats in less diverse cities tend to lean on their stereotypes and lack of heart to actually experience the culture and find out how little race really matters. I'm a young Filipino cat with a Black baby mama, my brother is dating a Puerto Rican chica, and pretty much every one of my cousins sons and daughters is mixed.

I think it's important to recognize that we all participants in a system based on white supremacy. These racist ass comments are never bidirectional, rather they come down from white to colored people and from colored people to colored people but whites and whiteness remains the norm. there is a long history of this, we have learned the hatred of one another from the dominant white supremacist views that we are all somehow deficient. as stated above we are often relegated to the poorest sectors of society and coupled with the poor education (not just regarding standardized test scores but also the amount of lies we are told to believe) it results in the perpetuation of a cycle where we blame each other for our perceived shortcomings and forget about the people who instituted and continue to benefit from this system. it is not until we can truly work in solidarity and get beyond these learned hatreds that we can reach any type of progress. racism is not natural, it is a learned behavior and it has a purpose. this purpose has always been the control of people "othered" based on a variety of perceived differences. the real problem is when we begin to believe these differences and reproduce them.

I live in los angeles...South Central to be exact. I honestly think that blacks and mexicans do get along for the most part. The problems start with gangs (at least here).
