Central Cali Remix Of DJ Khaled's "We Takin' Over"

So yesterday (Tuesday) I got an email about a Central Cali remix of DJ Khaled’s “We Takin’ Over”, which originally featured Akon, Rick Ross, TI, Baby, Fat Joe and Lil Wayne. This time around, howewver, the lyrics would be provided by Fresno emcees Planet Asia, Diego Redd, Shake Da Mayor, and 17-year-old prospect Fashawn.

And yes, I said Fresno.

Now I know everybody’s probably already had their fill of unofficial remixes on mixtapes, what with 37 reincarnations of “Money In The Bank” that popped up last year, and the 300-something remixes of “We Fly High” that came around with the same Jim Jones verse on all of them, but I was already feeling the original version of this track as it is (clown all you want, but Danjahandz killed it with that beat) and truth be told, the Fresno dudes definitely do it justice with their version.

But you be the judge...

Although the verse from Shake Da Mayor is kinda weak in my opinion, Planet Asia beasts on the track like it was made for him to rap on in the first place, while Diego Redd comes through with an unorthodox but memorable 16 and Fashawn lets everybody know that he’s gonna be one to watch in upcoming years.

The video is obviously budget as f**k, although they did ante up to rent a couple of Phantoms for the shoot so I gotta give ‘em dap for at least tryin’. But the song itself is most definitely noteworthy, and while I don’t necessarily think that Central Cali is takin’ over just yet (not hating, I’m just being realistic), I think that more efforts like this definitely can’t hurt. And based off of what I heard on the advance copy of Planet Asia’s new album that I just recieved, there’s plenty more where this came from...

  • I got two problems with this.

    1. The repeating of sentences twice
    2. How you gonna have Planet Asia go first? Planet Asia should have went last over the beat change up...but I guess that shows how much they respect shake

Oh well, it was still cool, I was impressed by Fashawn and Diego cuz I don't really know them so I expected them to come whack and they didn't. I wish...no I KNOW Asia could've came harder, but it's still cool.

  • ^^^^^^^^^^What a funny fellow...Miami is taking over? Yea sure. There was one Miami rapper on that track, and he was Garbello Anthony(Garbage). Lil Wayne killed the original, and if I remember right...he's from Nawlins(New Orleans)Therefore your claim is invalid, your a fuckin idiot, and your comments aren't needed here. Go kill yourself.
