Random S#!t: 2006 Comes To A Close...

So this is the last Random S#!t of 2006... It’s been an amazing year for me, and hopefully everybody out there had a good one as well. And although I wasn’t really feeling it the first couple of weeks, I’ve actually enjoyed doing this blog - a few of you even had something intelligent to contribute every now and then.
I’m gonna use this chance to close things up for ‘06.
First off, it wouldn’t be the end of the year without Skillz dropping the 2006 Wrap Up. For those who are unfamiliar, he’s been doing this for the last few years, and after his sophomore album got shelved by Rawkus, it’s pretty much the only music he’s been releasing at all. Which is a shame, because From Where??? was the shit back in the day.
It’s totally irrelevant to the West Coast, and there was no reason for me to bring it up before this, but I had to shout out one of the most memorable lyrics of the entire year. For the ten of you that bought Mobb Deep's 7th album, you should already be familiar - I’m talking about Prodigy’s verse on “Pearly Gates.” The final version was all chopped up and censored by some crab ass motherfucker at Interscope (apparently some copies of the album - including mine - have the lines reversed, while other copies just replace a couple of the lines with new ones), so here’s the original version in it’s entirety:

With all the crazy shit that’s being said in lyrics these days, they really had to censor that shit because P was airing out some atheist views? Please... For a record label that makes all of it’s money off hip hop artists, censoring one of their signees is some real pussy shit.
Just wanted to get that off my chest.
And lastly, there’s one thing I want to get off my chest before the year is over. Everybody’s been hating on the South all year, and hating because before Jigga and Nas dropped new albums, they were the only ones moving any units. Although there are a small handful of lyricists in the south (and no folks, T.I. is not a lyricist), I would be the last one to argue with anyone who says that you can find more lyricism in other regions. But the reason they sell more records is BECAUSE THEY HAVE BETTER BEATS. If rappers in the rest of the U.S. would wise up and get some decent fucking production, they would sell records, and everyone could stop bitching about how hip hop is dead. For the record, wack production and low expectations are what’s killing hip hop, not the South.

T.I. is a lyricist. You might want to relisten to his albums in full detail. I do feel you comment on better beats though.

TI used to be a lyriscist listen to IM SERIOUS the nigga was spittin fire back then. as the albums went on he just been getting more swagger happy and leaving the lyrics behind.
It's a shame Skills ain't got the shine he deserves 'cause on the real that dude has got skills and something else, now Interscope did a great thing censoring a few lines from Prodigy lyric, that is something you should never say even if you're drunk, you can never disrespect the Lord no matter who you are.

i wish rappers would stop talking bout how many cars they got or how much ice they got in their mouth and address topics that everyone or most people can relate to..then they can sell records (and get good production)...how long can one person rap about selling dope..?

Why aren't you supposed to talk greasy about the Lord? If that is someone's belief, who are we to say what he can say about those beliefs? Christians speak all the time on their views so it is only fair that others that feel differently are able to speak their mind also.
This is the problem in our country, not only in music, but society in general. We are so afraid of hurting someone's feelings. We need more reality in our society. Now I am no a fan on Mobb Deep(well after Hell On Earth that is) but I repsect P for speaking what he feels.

Mobb Deep is WHACK and that prodigy verse is horrible(NYC rap huh??!?!?) We will be talking about this song in a year when this guy croaks from complications with sickle cell...lol(yeah i said it, for all of yall who think thats harsh, re-read what he wrote about the Almighty)

He uses metaphors & has an untouchable swagger. TI has THE BEST delivery. He raps like he is having a conversation with you, especially the ladies.

No just another way to try and stir the pot . The West is real big right now with the return of Cube and Snoop. The Game has a real nice album and the Bay Area has a nice following. Detox will be out real soon and when that drops the West will be on every magazine cover and be playing on every radio station, and some East Coast bias bitches cant handle that. I guess they can push Shitty albums on us like the new Jaz Z & Nas albums, I like both of those MC's but there new albums where shit. Mobb Deep's last certified Gold Album was "Infamy", way back in 2002.

Lost Ones and Hustlers are both wack. Dr. Dre is washed up. Just Blaze outshines Dre's production on Kingdom Come. Timberland is also better then Dr. Dre now(atleast according to your standards DETOX SEP 2007 COP IT IAM! GUARANTEED)
And the day Detox comes out is the day hell freezes over. And also....Aftermath isn't even as much of a force as it was 3 years ago.
