Hopefully everyone had a positive, drama-free weekend; now it’s time to get back to the grind again. Since I ran the review of Tha Blue Carpet Treatment last friday (go read it if you haven’t already), we’re going to take today to catch up on Random S#!t.
By the way, Mondays fuckin’ suck.
After a heavy couple of weeks for West Coast hip hop releases, this week’s looking pretty empty. Since there aren’t going to be any new West Coast albums, make sure you go cop the new Clipse album. I don't give a fuck if they're not West Coast artists; these guys are two of the most talented cats in the rap game right now, and everyone needs to go cop Hell Hath No Fury. Don’t download the album either; you know it’s going to be a solid release, so reward these guys for not coming with a half-assed album and go buy that shit. They earned your 14 bucks.
The Rock The Bells Tour, which I mentioned in a previous blog, will now be featuring performances from Smif N Wessun on all of the dates, Ghostface Killah on 9 of the stops, Pharoahe Monch in SF and Vegas, EPMD in Toronto and Dirty Heads for the last half of the tour. In a moment that surprises no one, Keith Murray dropped off the tour due to “unforseen circumstances.”
DJ Whoo Kid and Bay Area DJ E Rock are teaming up to release the third installment of the Bay Bidness mixtape series. The latest installment will include new music from E-40, Keak Da Sneak, Mistah F.A.B, Messy Marv, Guce, Turf Talk, The Federation, San Quinn, J. Valentine, Dem HoodStarz, PSD and more. E Rock will also be dropping an album on Steve Rifkind’s SRC imprint in the near future.
In other DJ album news, Los Angeles radio legend Julio G. will be releasing West Side Radio: My First Strike in 2007 on Mack 10’s imprint, Hoo Bangin’ Records. The KDAY radio personality’s album will feature Snoop Dogg, B-Real, DJ Quik, Daz, Kurupt, Xzibit, Bishop Lamont, Glasses Malone, Mitchy Slick, Kartoon and La-La. The album will feature production from Julio G himself, as well as E-Swift, Alchemist, Fredwreck, Battlecat, Soopafly and Jon B. While seeing albums from DJ’s like Clue, Khaled and Kay Slay is pretty commonplace these days, we dont see too many DJ compilations from West Coast DJ’s drop on this grand of a scale, so hopefully this one gets a buzz going before it drops.
The BARS (Bay Area Rap Scene) Awards are this Saturday, and there’s a good chance I’m gonna head out there. In the event that I do, you can expect a full report next week. For anyone that wants to attend, tickets are still available (although they’re not cheap).

Dude Cypress Hill is always the ish when they play at rock the bells ...
though that Vato song is getting pretty repetative ... i should listen to Nas and turn off the radio ..

Everybody go cop that Clipse album! I heard a couple tracks and they are all dope, plus it got a XXL rating in XXL Magazine. Not to mention, their last album Lord Willin' was a classic ass album from start to finish. You knew after a 4 year hiatus these niggas gonna come correct with it. They are the two most underrated MC's in the game today, they spit lyrical fire on tracks, and it don't matter what region you from, you gonna love it. I fucks with The Clipse and will definitely be coppin this album to support these talented ass niggas. Just another album I gotta cop in support of the rebirth of Hip Hop. (The Game, Jay-Z, Clipse, Nas) Everyone GO BUY HELL HATH NO FURY!!!!!!!!
Clispe is a good album but I thought they wasy dropping last week. JIVE is a crappy label to be on.
Glad to see Papoose (spell wrong) is coming out with the album finally. NYC can relax and quit hating on hip hop. The got next to represent. It was a good week. Cop snoop, jay-z, game, and waiting for the clispe (Momma I Sorry is the best song). I got all of the bootleg first but I had to go cop them. Make great X-mas gifts.
Praying that NAS is good. I still buy his music but praying for that illmatic like I pray for Jigga to go back to Resonable Doubt.

Raise a glass to the Clipse. If you've slept on the 'We Got It 4 Cheap' mixtapes, you need to go ahead and get caught up on the whole collection of music available from these cats.
I really hope these cats can pull off some AMAZING record sales. I know it's unlikely in today's market, but it would be great for hip-hop as a whole if they did. Imagine all these out of touch record industry executives looking at the charts like, "Oh, I guess people that can actually rap is what's cool again. Let's get rid of these Sesame Street artists we've got right now and go find some people with acutal talent".
Well, it probably wouldn't go like that. But we can all dream of a day when we can turn on our favorite hip-hop station and hear real music again. I'll definitely be dropping my $14 for these guys. To be honest, this was my most anticipated album of 2006. I'm actually EXCITED about tomorrow. That's some crazy stuff I ain't felt in a looooong, long time...
did you see Games $2.00 bill concert. It was horrible. Almost un bearable. Dude even rapped 50's parts oh it was horrible.
When is the Rock The Bells Tour coming to vegas? I never heard of it stopping out here...
It's hard to judge how that Clipse album is, after hearing those two mediocre singles. "Mr Me too" was straight, mainly because of the beat, but that "wamp wamp" shit is trash. Slim Thug erks me.
