Former editor in chief of the Source magazine Kim Osorio reveals the stories behind the stories from her upcoming book Straight From The Source: An Expose from the Former Editor in Chief of the Hip-Hop Bible.

I write. That's what I do. So writing a book was the natural progression for me. More recently, the contents of my own mental journal made its way onto the pages of what some are depicting as a tell-all. But to "tell-all" is not the point of this book that I have written.

Now, people may wonder why I chose to divulge certain information, in particular, my "sexual relations" (read it like they said it in the Nutty Professor). And I don't want the mentions of any artist's name to overshadow the purpose of this book. Names that purposely did not get any play on the cover, the back cover, the jacket copy, or the inside flap. So as a reader, when you walk into a book store and pick up this book, you won't know about the names on the inside until you actually read it. So you're so curious as to why those names were discussed at all? Well, it's pretty easy to figure out if you get the point of the book. But there are still those who just don't get it.

Now, to those individuals, let me tell you why you're not that good at what you do. I mean, keep it funky, everyone is biased. Everyone has an opinion. And everyone passes judgment. But, when you are writing, or doing an interview, and when you call yourself the media, the point is to remove yourself and your personal feelings from the situation, research and compile the facts, and then formulate an opinion/position based on those. Okay, so now that I've ranted, here's what the hell I'm talking about.

There were reports on my book, rumors posted and uninformed blog opinions, written by so-called writers who haven't even read it yet. If you don't want to read it, then don't, but understand when you write something about it, even a negative comment, you are helping me anyway. It's called publicity and promotion, and I want to thank you.

Still, it's mind-boggling how some can form an opinion without reading it.

And without giving the whole point of the book away in this blog, because whether you like it or not, there are those that really want to read it (na na na na na). Like I said before though, there are 31 chapters. There is a reason why the relationships discussed in the book were put out there. And you'll get it, if you read it. Or maybe some of you just won't ever get it.

That was part of the reason why I wrote it.

Tomorrow, I'll be back like Arnold Schwarzenegger  to talk about, (drum roll), the sex police!
