OutKast's Big Boi is gearing up for the release of his new solo album Sir Luscious Leftfoot: Son of Chico Dusty this fall. SOHH caught up with the ATLien to discuss his role in the upcoming presidential election, holding the torch for his father and his coming of age disc.

“The concept is basically the grown version of Big Boi,” Big told SOHH. “I came out on Southerplayalistic at 15-16-years-old, I was Big Boi. I’ve matured, I’ve been around the world and I have grown up, so now it’s all about ‘Sir Luscious Leftfoot,’ the knight in rhyming armor is here.”

When asked about the second part of his album title, Big broke down the meaning behind ‘Chico Dusty.’

“'Sir Chico Dusty' is basically my father,” he explained about his album title. “My father was in the military, and that was his nickname. He was a bad, bad man. He was cool as a muthaf*cka. I’m the offspring of that man right there. He’s no longer with us, so I’m holding the flag for him right now.”

The first single off the set is the politically charged track, “Sumthin’ Gotta Give,” featuring Mary J. Blige. The song touches on world issues from the war in Iraq, to rising gas prices, to the upcoming presidential election. Big wanted to release a single that would not only entertain but address the issues affecting the masses.

“I wanted to put that out first for the people, talking about social and political issues that is going on in the world today and not just a bunch of gibberish,” he revealed. “It’s time for it. We have the biggest election of our lifetime about to go down.”

When asked about his views on the upcoming election, Big stated he wanted to use his position in hip-hop to help influence young voters.

“I love it man,” he stated. “The voter turnout is going to be groundbreaking again. There are people that have been following my whole career for about 10-12 years now, who know what I’m about, so I’m going to tell them who I like in the election. It’s all about freedom of speech and having your own opinion.”

Sir Luscious Leftfoot wouldn’t be complete without the collaboration from his OutKast partner in rhyme, Andre 3000. Dre and Raekwon the Chef teamed up on the infectious street single “Royal Flush.” Other appearances on the set include T.I. George Clintion, Too $hort and Goodie Mob with production from longtime OutKast hitmakers Organized Noize as well as Scott Storch and Lil’ Jon.

“If you like any OutKast album up until now, then you’re going to love this muthaf*cka right here,” he explains. “My sound has already been out of this world. I guess it’s in another galaxy now. I might turn into a black hole and swallow the rest of this shit. It’s gotten there, way bigger.  From beginning to end and you just go on an adventure.”

Sir Luscious Leftfoot: Son of Chico Dusty hits stores In October on his Purple Ribbon imprint via Jive.

(1) Aliases always denote arrogance.
(2) So now we know why he is pretending to have punked Killer Mike. (Which we know is a lie)
(3) Big Boi is "zzzz" without Andre3000.
(4) Different Galaxy? No quite. Rapping about pimping is very Earthly, circa "Any Ghetto in 2000s" Its actually quite PLAYED OUT.
(5) I Can't wait for Andre3000's album. Now that's gonna be music!

(1) Well then damn near every MC would have to be classified as arrogant because besides most rappers have aliases!

(2)He never said he had anything to do with the physical attack on Killer Mike period. He said a member of his entourage and Killer Mike were involved. No atter whether the story is true or not, he never took credit for Killer Mike getting attacked. Stop promoting propganda. Besides that was the first time he spoke on the subject ever, whereas Killer Mike brought it up like 3 times and did a long ass interview on allhiphop.com about it!Get your facts right!

(3) Outkast is not Batman and Robin! First of all i've been listening to "Kast" since their first album and I can't name five songs where Big Boi totally outshines 3000 and vice versa. Both are incredible lyrcists and certified legends not only in Hip Hop but in music period. 3000 is more of an artist and takes more risks in his music via him singing and his eccentric personality and fashion choice. For this matter he has become more intringuing and people are waiting on his solo album moreso than Big Boi's not becuase he is a better Emcee but because 3000 stopped rapping for a minute and now his anticipation is erupting. Big Boi never stopped rapping and if the roles were reversed it would have been the same thing.

(4) To put limitations Big Boi's craft by stating that he only raps about pimpimg shows that you have never listened to the majority of an Outkast catalog. Period!

(5) Yeah Andre 3000's album should be great music but Big Boi's album will be cold also. Royal Flush is one of the top 5 Hip Hop songs out now and the joint with Mary J. Blige is refreshing.

Bottom line you can hate on Big Boi and it sounds like you are jumping on the Killer Mike perverbial d*ick bandwagon because NOBODY ever had anything bad t osay about Big Boi prior to this "personal" issue between those two. Killer Mike is nice but will never be as nice as Big Boi lyrically and will never achieve his status in Hip Hop period.Big Boi can retire tommorrow and will take his place amongst the legends. Bye hater!

(1) yes. most rappers are arrogant. I thought Big Boi was evolved enough to avoid that mistake. Guess not.

I know he didn't say he did it. Everyone knows he couldn't do it. But, he did say that it happened. And it didn't.

(2) You not only misspelled propoganda, you've used it incorrectly. Please always look up words in the dictionary prior to using them, especially when attempting to debate someone. lol

(3) Son, Big Boi is not Andre's equal. Only you and about 3 other people think so (Big Boi's mama, daugther, and his mother)

(4) I own everything they've ever released, including several unreleased songs. Dre is the Veggies, Big Boi is the Doritos. (Now you tell me - which one is healthier?)

(5) ...son, Please go back to listening to B2K.

Bottomline the word "hate" is overused. Big Boi has always been a borderline clown. All the adults know this. lol Killer Mike (name excused) has a more mature, stellar content, and overall is way more interesting. I know you want to compare everything to Souljah Boy and Boosie, but try to resist the temptation.

Bye clown.

Nah Sponsor, you're tripping. Killer Mike is a great talent and it's a shame he gets so overlooked, but Big Boi is considerably better. Andre and Big are pretty different, so comparing them isn't necesarry. It's like comparing Pimp C to Bun B, Willide D to Scarface, or 8ball to MJG. They both bring something different and they complement each other very well. I have every Kast CD, and Big Boi is just as important. He can hold his own compared to 3 stacks. A good example is Speakerboxxx/Love Below: you know Big Boi's disc was better than Dre's. I like Dre rapping way more than singindg. Big Boi's album had more in the vein of Outkast's music. The Love Below was good, but it was a risky venture. Dre wants to do what Cee-Lo (Gnarls Barkley/ Goodie Mob) does, but cant really pull it off. Dre is more of the 'artsy' musician, but Big Boi is equal is stone cold lyrical ability. And why are you tripping on nicknames? Rappers call themselves new nicjnames every album. Now if you wanna argue with me on these points feel free; becuae all your Killer Mike fanboy comments make you look like a groupie.

Big Boi is also more consistent as well. You never know when Andre will rap, which is his real talent, or sing, which he is alright in. Neither one of them however made Outkast what it is without the other. They arew equally important and talented.
