Nas Protests at Fox News

Written By Danica Dow

Yesterday Nas represented over 600,000 other Americans as he stood in front of the Fox News building in New York City demanding that the network stop its racist smearing against African-Americans and democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.  Of course, SOHH was on the scene.

Though rain was on the horizon, it didn't dampen the spirits of many protestors from ColorofChange.org and MoveOn.org.  High school students, graduate degree candidates and other concerned citizens showed up to hear the Queensbridge rapper share his views.

Watch this video to see what Nas had to say about Fox's racist propaganda and check out more protest pics below the video.

This cant be life

Basically I think this is a bunch of liberal ideologues trying to shut people up that they disagree with. I think Fox News should stop slanting their news right once the major news networks stop slanting their news coverage left.

Okay I heard that shit on MSNBC a few months ago: one of the morning show anchors or somethin basically referred to Barack Obama as Michlle Obama's "baby's dad", which I definitely see the underlying racism in. That person should be FIRED.

I still have not seen greater evidence of some type of institutional racism going on at Fox News. One of their chief economic commentators is a black dude. I've also seen what's his name on there very often(think he's a black conservative radio talk show host from Cali).

Yes Bill O'Reilly smeared Ludacris, but remember it was Pepsi who (I feel) racistly replaced him with the Osbournes. I also heard a slightly racist comment O'Reilly made about a black restaurant in Harlem he went with Sharpton to, but that soundbyte was recorded from his radio show. To be honest I think O'Reilly might have some prejudices within him, but despite that I agree with a few of his positions and like hearing an alternative viewpoint on the important issues of the day.

Actually come to think of it, the most racist comment I have ever seen on Fox News was when Rev Jackson came on and smeared Barack Obama.

Could somebody tell me what's wrong with Fox News? You know, besides the fact you may disagree with their viewpoint? Could somebody tell me why we are not allowed to disagree with each other in America anymore? Could somebody give me further evidence that Fox News is racist?

Oh okay well I found some more things that happened from another site: "The protesters' grievances include the terrorist fist jab comment, Liz Trotta's Obama-Osama mix-up and Bill O'Reilly's lynching comment.". Maybe if it's a habitual thing over there at Fox News, a protest like this is probably warranted, maybe there are other things that happened that I'm not aware of. I still remain skeptical however since I feel that Fox News has been unfairly attacked in the past.

For the record, I'm wit Nas on the whole O'Reilly/Virginia Tech thing that happened a while ago, but I understand O'Reilly's viewpoint: he's just an old guy that doesn't understand hiphop, I'm sure most of our parents are scared of the gun talk and what not too, you know?

to RealTalkb, there is nothing wrong with an alternative view point. The problem with fox is that they say they have an alternative viewpoint, but are rooted in lies, hate and misleading their viewers. If you ever have time, just watch three or four fox programs in a row and you will get the exact same information just from different mouths. and skin color does not matter. that is just ignorant. listen and watch and think! fox is not fair and balanced because the news they offer is given to them on them daily as "talking points". i mean im pretty sure they even say it. wtf. just watch and listen. they have a clear agenda and by watchin just a few programs is is very clear what the agenda is for the day and for the company. no one deviates from a story and it is always "debated" within the same parameters on every show. and for you to say Bill o'reilly is just old and doesnt understand, that is a cop out. its his job to understand and research. his objective, as a man who says he's focused on fair and balanced media, be to approach a hip hop artist like nas to get his viewpoint and to understand it. that just doesnt make sense. and im not calling him racists, but you mentioned three or four racists incidents regarding o'reilly, yet you choose to go along with what he tells you. look at people's actions not just the words. if he consistently does these things, then there must be a reason.

oh and for the record, the whole liberal media thing was started by FOX NEWS! there is no such thing as a liberal media, at least not mainstream. if that was the case, why does every news program follow the same major stories and why dont they ever offer a different format? watch cnn, nbc, abc, fox and you will get the exact same news coverage with the same or similar slant (even the same presentation).

wake up and catch up.

imjustbeingme86...Ur trippin..I wish people would stop trying to protect trick O'Riely. Name me one thing he has done positve for any community?? He's sure got the backing from fox news. And your comment on "skin color does not matter"?? since when please let me know the crossover date and when it happend because apperently I missed it. Someone making that statement IS A cop out!! scrub, all things matter we just need to put them together and stop living our live as individuals. oh and for the record every news program does not cover the same stories. In Cali we didn't even here about the Sean Bell case to after the fact. ANd how people got killed in New Orleans last month?? I don't know because my Cali news stations don't cover that. Wake up & catch up?? that's what WE are trying to get America to do. Your first comment you hadn't even researched anything on fox news and that's why you came back and posted again. So use your own advice..LISTEN

Let's be honest mindless sheep, it's all about money and the power of the H D E H N . All news networks have an agenda and you rotten scoundrals fall for it everytime. Ratings have been at it's greatest, influence is very strong thanks to rap music, porn, and violence on television to keep you simpletons in sync with bullshit. But I like you ladies and gentleman arguring and fighting each other over something you have no voice in whatsoever.

I'm with Nas on the racist views that FOX broadcasts to the world, but...honestly I believe that Nas is only doing this now to get his face out there so people will buy that album which is some b$tch sh$t! Riding the bandwagon for financial gain, he no different than Sharpton or Jesse for that move he just pulled.
