Just how do you celebrate Spring Break in a recession? Well for starters, you grab a group of your closest peeps, pool all the money you managed to save from your work-study gigs and go for broke, which is exactly what thousands upon thousands of Spring Breakers did this year in Panama City Beach, Florida, one of the hottest annual destinations for Spring Break.

I was fortunate enough to be invited down to cover my first Spring Break event ever, the 11th annual BeachBlast put together by Energy X Productions and event organizer, Kevin Ogborn.

Though I was a little hesitant about making the trip down from NY to experience drunken hedonism at its best, on my first day there, I was quickly put at ease by miles and miles of sand and ocean, along with throngs of chiseled, athletic bodies making their way down the beach. Later in the day, I was even granted the opportunity to judge the infamous BeachBlast Hotbody contest. (Check out the pics below for my two favorites: Chris and his booty-blue short shorts along with Terrance, the under-21 Kanye look-a-like, who ultimately won).

Shortly before the contest began, another BeachBlast Hotbody contestant, Ashton, felt the need to share a tidbit of info she apparently couldn't contain any longer: two months before Spring Break, she saved just enough money to lace herself with a pair of upright Playboy-worthy implants. What recession?

Apparently, this was the theme of this year's Spring Break. While many students admitted it was Spring Broke (and it ain't no joke), more, often, then not, it seemed as if this year's Spring Breakers spent their dough and asked questions later. Luckily for them, the sponsored drinks and free concerts on the beach (Lil Wayne and Kid Cudi among the performers) helped lighten the load just a tad. Besides the beach contests, taut bodies, and packed-to-the-brim clubs, I also got a chance to hang with down-to- earth chica, Leilene, from Flavor Of Love and Nick Brown, from Real World Hollywood, who both dropped a few gems below, along with Randy Wayne (The Dukes of Hazzard). All in all, Spring Break 2009 was far from a bust and if you don't believe the words, just check out the visuals?male and female-approved!
