Last night, Nas held a last minute screening of his Rik Cordero directed video “Be A N***a Too” video at the Tribeca Grand Hotel in Soho. The reception area was covered in black and white photos from the civil rights movement and modern day political protests. Industry folks sipped on beer, wine and soft drinks while waiting to be escorted into the theatre.

The music video was incredible. It features John Cho, Gbenga Akinnagbe who plays Chris Parlow on The Wire, and a few other recognizable faces. Though cameras were forbidden during the actual screening I did catch some commentary from Cordero and the man of the hour himself.

In this video Nas talks about why he's taking so many chances with his music and why he's committing, what some would call, career suicide with all of this N-Word business.

Here's Director Rik Cordero talking about how the treatment for the video was based on the Spike Lee joint, 25th Hour.

Oh yeah, and The Cons and Fabolous were in the house to show their support as well.
