There were just too many events to keep up with this weekend. In case you didn't know, VH1 filmed the 4th Annual Hip-Hop Honors this past Thursday (October 4). The festivities didn't end there. We watched the Roots perform for the Hip-Hop Honors tour Friday, stopped by the YUME BKNY store and MC Lyte's birthday party on Saturday and then attended the Celebrity Basketball game on Sunday.

Black Thought is a beast. I watched the man flawlessly perform Wu-Tang Clan's "Protect Your Neck" by himself during the Roots' VH1 Hip-Hop Honors' New York tour stop. The tour has the legendary band covering hip-hop classics for the majority of their set. With Skillz on board, the crew covered classics like NWA's "Fuck The Police," Gangstarr's "Just To Get A Rep," EPMD's "So What Chu Sayin," Main Source's "Lookin At The Front Door," Special Ed's "I Got It Made" and UTFO's "Roxanne, Roxanne" among others.

MC Lyte and Big Daddy Kane served as the evening's surprise guests. Lyte did "Lyte As A Rock," "Roughneck," "Cha Cha Cha" and "Paper Thin" while Kane performed "RAW," Set It Off," "Warm It Up Kane" and "Smooth Operator." Scooba Love even stopped by to bust some of those classic dance moves.

The next day, we stopped by YUME BKNY's store for a few drinks. I must say, the hooked up that loft pretty nicely.

We then hit the Addidas store for MC Lyte's Bday party at the Addidas store. Kwame, producer Hank Shockley, Little X and SOHH On The Scene regulars like Dres, the Retro Kids made appearances.

Lastly, we attended the Hip-Hop Honors Celebrity Basketball Game at Long Island University's Athletic Center in Brooklyn yesterday (October 7). Dres, Chub Rock, Matthew Knowles and L.A. Sunshine lead the Old School team while Saigon, Lyfe Jennings, DJ Unk and Mims repped for the New School squad. Most of them dudes probably never had NBA potential, but Knowles had a sweet jumper. He must have scored close to 15 points. Some of the highlights included Swizz Beatz and Cassidy performing and New York getting booed while announcing the game's MVP.
