Like "Gangsta" and "Hustler," "Pimp" is being used very loosely these days. I mean, even some of my friends call themselves pimps when gloating about the number of women they've pulled.
I recently got a chance to sit down with Pimpin Ken, a documented pimp in the literal sense of the word. Interesting character to say the least.
One minute, he appears to be a business man at the dinner table and the next he's telling me to make it, "official like a referee's whistle." Since all these rappers can't possibly be authentic pimps, I asked Ken to name the rhyme spitters who have earned the right to claim P.I.M.P.

Jackpot and Pimpin Ken
50 Cent: "50 Cent is the greatest pimp of all time. This man just got 15 million worth of free promotion."
Too $hort: "Too $hort been calling hoes bitches and they love them. If I call them bitch, they call the police on me. Too $hort says, "bitch!" "Aaaaawwwwwww, Too $hort." I say, "bitch." Disorderly conduct!
Pimp C: Pimp C talk about a funky bitch and bitch break yourself, bitch. I'll put the meat on a sock...never fuck without a rubber. Hoes listen to this shit and they come to they shows and they pay these boys. They spitting game. They pimps."
"Those are the motherfuckin rappers that's pimpin, man. Them boys been getting money," he offered. He also named DJ Quik, Dru Down and Sugar Free. Interestingly, he never mentioned Snoop Dogg or Ice-T, two of the rappers that have helped popularize pimping in rap. Well, Ken does quote Ice in his book, so his omission is probably an honest mistake. Don't know about Snoop though.
Anyway, watch Pimpin Ken speak on the aforementioned pimpcees and more below.
