Brooklyn's own Skyzoo dropped his latest mixtape, Corner Store Classic hosted by DJ Kay Slay and and Mick Boogie this past Friday (July 20).

He also held a release party for the disc at Novo in NYC the same day. The event was sponsored by Guerrilla Words, King Magazine, Freebase Clothing & Prefixmag.com.

The CD features guest spots by Stimuli, Sean Price, Maino and Torae as well as production by 9th Wonder, Black Milk, Illmind, J Dilla and Khrisis.

Despite affiliations with Justus League, Sky has avoided the "backpack" tag to date. Still, it's pretty interesting to see him drop a Kay Slay-hosted tape.

"I hooked up wit Kay Slay through my manager Rick Caps. He reached out to Slay and being that they already had been real tight for years that opened the door to Slay wanting to hear my music," Sky told SOHH. "When he heard the material he was down with [it] off the bat."

"I figured why not put the two giants together on the same project? When you have the biggest DJ in the streets and the biggest DJ in the corporate and internet world come together on the same project nothing can really stop it," Sky added. "It's a no brainer."

Sky's supporters apparently agree as they packed Novo to celebrate the release of Classic.
