Slip-N-Slide's Plies Meets The Press In NYC

Artists can learn a thing or three from Plies, Slip-N-Slide's next artist to come out under the imprint's joint venture with Atlantic Records. The Fort Myers, FL rapper met with journalists at Atlantic Records' New York headquarters this past Friday (May 18).

The meet-and-greet began with writers and editors listening to half a dozen songs off Plies' forthcoming LP, The Real Testament. I need to hear the music a few more times before giving a verdict, but off top "Shawty," the lead single featuring T-Pain sounds like a potential hit.

Later on Plies himself came in and sparked a dialogue about the relationship between artists and the press among other things. Though he initially seemed bothered when mentioning malicious journalists, he didn't generalize and was pretty open throughout the discussion, which is more than can be said for a lot of artists. Interestingly, he was aware of common press interview patterns(asking hard questions last), which once again, is more than a lot of artists can say. I can appreciate an artist who pays attention to detail. And Plies is definitely one of them.

Be on the lookout for The Real Testament when it hits stores August 7th.
