50 Cent created a bunch of "first-week sales" madness that will never be forgotten-- or abandoned.
How did Fif do that? Well, by suggesting that any rapper that "doesn't sell more than him" isn't as good as he is. By boasting about how much he'll smash Billboard in the first week alone. So now we're stuck with the "week one anticipation" syndrome. Don't believe he started it? Research it for yourself.
Now he can't make a record to save his life. And even if he did, no one would buy it.
That's the difference between Curtis and Jadakiss.
If the numbers prove official, then that's a good look. One of the last real rappers left has proven that quality, skill, craft, and TALENT still means something in hip-hop. According to estimated chart placement, Jada is on track to push The Last Kiss well over 100K in the opening week-- an enormous accomplishment in such a barren music atmosphere.
Needless to say, authentic rap albums today are like rare gems or rain in a desert. With barely any radio spins, without anything that 50 Cent would consider good enough to make a record sell, Jadakiss will sell more the first week than what 50 Cent will. If Curtis ever drops an album, that is.
Radio does works for your promotion. But if you're an immaculate lyricist with the ability to make songs people can listen to, then radio is not a crucial part of promotion. Note, too, that radio spins don't mean you're selling records. *cough* Soulja Boy *cough* You annoying little f*ck.The only question I have now is: Where is the rest of Roc-A-Fella?
In further Authentic Rap news, check Raekwon and Busta Rhymes in "Death Wish" -- not a remake of Jadakiss's "Death Wish."
And by the way, something I overlooked in my inbox, delivered by Killer Beez promo:
"Something special is in the works. I been told The RZA is behind this & that the Wu have been recording all new material. The information on this is "sensitive", however, a "leak" song might be coming soon. Stay tuned..."
If an album ever goes into production, RZA, PLEASE remember this:
"RZA aint listening," Ghostface complained to SOHH back in November of '07. "He wanted to make [8 Diagrams] how he wanted it and it aint come out right. He wanna always do the whole thing himself, produce the whole album. We're like, let's bring in some other producers too. Bring in Kanye, bring in Pharell. He wanna make his own instruments and sh*t and it sounded horrible."
HORRIBLE. That guitar, low-key sh*t gotta go. This ain't 1993 homie. That damn album put my Bebe Kid godson to sleep. And that's a hard task.
Not a good look.
Congrats to Kiss man job WELL DONE on this album. I have not been impressed with Kiss's solo efforts save for a few songs but THE LAST KISS is a solid album. The sht bangs and has maybe one or two fillers (Death Wish, the Swizz joint)...
Thanks for bringing the East Coast back Kiss!
Sorry, but that Kiss album was bad. Intro is nice. Letter to BIG is nice. The album as a whole is bad.
WAIT... I THOUGHT THIS ARTICLE WAS ABOUT JADAKISS - NOT 50 CENT!!!
Dayum, yo! Once again, this proves that the kid is in your brain like THAT, and y'all just can't leave him alone. Seriously, this was low even for Reck's standards. I can't tell if your happy or disappointed that Jada's gonna do 130k. All that's painfully evident is that your universe evolves around Curtis Jackson. I can't even "LOL" because that's both weird and depressing.
Hate him or love him, this is why 50 Cent ain't going nowhere soon. Granted it may be because of being infamous rather than famous, but people can't keep dude's name out they mouth.
As for the dude Jada, I'm very happy for him. 130k isn't huge (especially when Def Jam has shipped 350k of Ross' upcoming album) but it's a good look.
YOU WILL NOTICE THAT JADA SEEMS TO HAVE TURNED OVER A NEW LEAF. He seems very focused on the business aspect and a lot less on the other things (which earn you street clout but don't do sh*t for your paycheck). He may have simply realized that he's getting older and, after all these years, has made very little monetary profit from Hip Hop. One look at Wu-Tang and it'll scare anybody into their right mind.
A mid-life crisis is a b*tch... but it'll light a fire under your ass, forreal!
JADAKISS SHOULD BE HIS OWN BOSS BY NOW...
I'm pretty sure he feels that and regrets the fact that he isn't.
Rappers will put up a good front to seem like they ballin' and are in control of their careers - when we really know that they are puppets under the direction of record execs and such, enslaved to unfavorable contracts. Here's hoping that Jada "grabs the bull by the horns."
This certainly is a step. He's gotta make himself profitable to the label so he can gain some leverage. Nevermind how much they love him in the streets - he's gotta make sure they love him on Soundscan too! An artist has to earn that extra money from touring and feature appearances, which only come if you are profitable.
I've noticed Jada appearing on more remixes of late. I was a bit surprised by the "You Can't Stop Me" record coming out as the first single. But from a business standpoint, it makes sense.
Jadakiss has always been a real upstanding dude. I'm wishing him much success on the business side of the industry.
why is reckless always on 50's dick? this post is about jada not 50...sohh.com is the fox news of urban media yo....completely biased...reckless how bout u make a record...and see how much it sells...computer bloggers=full of hate
What a coincedence. I was bumping 36 Chambers on my way to work this morning..I agree that the old production of 36 Chambers might not work today, but at the same time, I wouldn't too far away 36Chambers is a certified Hip-Hop classic. I'm tired of everybody going to Kanye for a beat. I say, let GZA do the whole album, but also come up with a new grittier sound that will cater to the East Coast scene! That Kiss album is the bizness!
@ Clo-fresh
Come on, homecut.
Let GZA do the whole album.
Not to get all up in a tizzy, but you meant RZA, right?
;)
VerbalPainter aka Paintz with Wordz
I'm a big fan of Jada's but this guy cannot make a good album. I'm sorry to say it but The Last Kiss is mediocre at best. His last mixtape is better than this album. The lyrics are there obviously but the beat selection and hooks are not. 20 featured artist do not make a great album. Reckless knows 50 is gonna sell more than 130k in his 1st week. He just likes getting the stans agitated.
yo i love kiss and i'm glad he moved those type of numbers in this type of environment, but i did not like that album as a whole it had a few joints on it i can rock with, but the i have yet to actually sit through the whole album and whats bad about that this is i waited for 4 or 5 years for this to drop and i was very kinda not excited about the Ne-Yo collab i expected better out of those 2.. but umm this isn't about 50, 50 and Jadas beef is squashed where the hell you been? come out from under that rock before you scream someone elses name homie.. and as far as Soulja boy goes, if Bow Wows albums sales are "Karma" then what are his? he didnt sell either so he should keep his young ass mouth shut...
Listen to recording samples from RICO Lopes on Youtube
You know what? Who cares if some of you don't like the album and think it's bad. Obviously the fans and the world thinks differently. Because they are supporting Jadakiss right now. When will you guys understand, that your personal opinion or preference towards an artist and their music, does not apply to the whole world. Just because you don't like Jada's album, doesn't mean somebody else won't. Just because you don't like a certain artist or rapper, doesn't mean somebody else won't. Just because you may like a certain rapper, does not mean everybody else will.
Anyway, congrads to Jada. 100k+ in the first week is real good. Especially when a lot of the rappers that are in heavy rotation, with hit singles plastered all over, are doing way less than that first week. They be doing 20k in the first week, and they got the so-called hit singles popping, and all the promotion in the world. So off to a good start Kiss.
what does 50 cent have 2 do wit jadakiss sales?? jada has talent and im happy 2 c a real mc get ahead.but Reckless u really need stop hatin so much!! jealousy is a female trait homie stop jockin 50 dogg everyday almost u mention him and thats really sad.And im not even a 50 fan u really need 2 stop jockin 50 homie its pathetic!
Reckless, do you really think 50 cent will sell LESS THAN 130K the first week?
Even if he flops, he'll sell AT LEAST 200k the first week.
Past Numbers for 50 cent 1st week:
GRODT: 872,000
Massacre: 1,140,000
Curtis: 691,000
so pretty much unless he flops harder than he's ever flopped before, he will still beat Jada.
Also, his worldwide fanbase is much bigger than in the USA, so i'm SURE he'll beat jada worldwide 1st week regardless.
WOW... SO THE ALBUM AIN'T ALL THAT???
Seriously, I'm just asking because I haven't gotten around to it (in and out of town lately).
From what I'm gathering from the bloggers, lyrics are on-point but beat selection (or overall song production are not). Hmmmm.... On other websites I'm reading opinions that his hooks are mediocre at best.
Just proves that it takes even more than lyricism to make a complete song... and an album full of such.
Back to something I eluded to earlier, the song "You Can't Stop Me" was a weird choice simply because that's not Kiss... especially the hook. That's just not his zone nor his style. Kiss' range doesn't cover that, which may be a clue to his limit as a song maker. It looked like a label exec made him do that, thinking it was a good idea. I know Jada's better than that. THAT'S WHY RAPPERS SOUND SO MUCH BETTER ON THEIR MIXTAPES... they get to choose the beats, hooks, etc, not some label exec or whoever.
But I guess Jada thought going on a major label as opposed to an indie was the best move for him and his peoples... at that particular time.
@Verbal Painter...Yeah, my bad homie.. I meant RZA
I see U G-Unit sheep & 50 Cent queerleaders still get sensitive when Reckless mentions y'all's idol, maybe he should've been humble about his 1st week sales instead of being a pompous @$$ & saying what he said. just because U outsell another artist does not mean U're better.
just face it, 50's time came & went, he should leave the music alone & sell his vitamin water
Peace to React and Clo-fresh:
A React, one day I predict that you will pull Reckless in with that huge net of yours (lol). Until then, I will wait around and wait for you next victim (lol).
Anyway, carefully avoiding React's mouse trap and speaking more seriously because of the quality of bloggers on this blog, I agree that 50 cents did set up this artifical criterion to assess his worth and others. In fact, he didn't set up the criteria until he sold his records. In the aftermath of 50's explosion of making a classic album I think that he uderstood that the creatively, the gas tank was empty and he was never going to build a "musical" rap legacy like Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Nas, Jay Z, Pac and Big and therefore he made sells and his net worth the standard of what quality music is suppose to be about it and those who are ignorant endorsed this standard.
In fact if Hammer and Vanilla Ice had did the same thing some of the dummuies may be sitting around calling them the GOAT.
Anyway, once this standard and assessment was endorsed - it took the Black man and woman out of the game and made Hip Hop assessments soley based on the musical taste of white teenagers and white yound adults. This is why 50 felt so comfortable and saying F*ck the hood because he knew that he had re-arranged the Hip Hop standards whereas Black voices would no longer be important. He could comfortable tell black folks to kiss his @ss and get away with it and he has.
See he knew that as long as he was pleasing white folks with his pop rap songs that things would be okay. He just keep dumb Negroes engaged by convincing them that he is the hardest and smartest cat they will ever meet and suckering them to buy his music which again was not made for their listening ear.
So now Jada, who is one of the illest dudes in the game, is eveluated not by the streets or Black folks - no, his worth is assessed by whiteboys. I know people hear me call 50 a tom and think that it is over reaction but as a social scientist I have studied him and know exactly what he has done and what his motivation was for doing it. That is another story.
Anyway, I co-sign Reckless' post because it is true. I said the music is no longer ours and it is true. I can't remember a time period where at least some element of Black and social consciousness was apart of Hip Hop music. It clearly is no longer there and therefore I ask why. Curt himself said he will never make conscious music (what do you expect from a tom who says f*ck the hood?).
This is why I say I no longer have ownership in this thing. Hip Hop is really nothing more than a plantation with a bunch of rhyming slaves.
Peace to Dre G, too!
I think it's no coincidence that Jada probably beating sales expectations and his hooking up with thisis50.com. Like it or not RECKLESS I'm sure that had some influence over sales. Give respect to Jada realizing that he had to expand his fan base in order to achieve sales success.
Thisis50.com boost Jada over 130 but TOS in at 98. Come on man- stop it! You lose creditibility when you say things like that!
BIGUPtobk
You should have went to one of those all white schools with the white people you are so in love with, because for a "social scientist" you sure have horrible spelling and grammar.
Just admit it, your white, you love 50, and you probably have a GED!
writing in circles with language you can't understand or spell just makes you look stupid.
your white - LMAO
Damn, I thought it was "you're white." If "your white" is the kind of grammar that is being taught at your school then I think that I will just stay what I have....
I would love to cop a Wu album

BIGUP2BK to Megatron: "Thisis50.com boost Jada over 130 but TOS in at 98. Come on man- stop it! You lose creditibility when you say things like that!"
OUCH!!! I guess nobody will try that line again anytime soon!
Once again, Jada has been using a good strategy of late. A few weeks back, he stayed clear from the 50/Ross beef, which makes him seem more "mature" than the others. Good move. He's mending fences on one side and TRYING to expand his subject matter on the other. He comes off as a focused but realistic dude when it comes to the business aspect of the game. In fact, I do remember an interview a few months back when he actually laid out that exact strategy.
ALL THIS WHILE NOT JUMPING ON SOMEONE'S JOCK... like some other people do, [ahem] like someone that goes by the stage-name "Game."
There's a lot to be said about how these artists carry themselves and I've got respect for Kiss cause of that. Maino too for the same reason. In fact, as a NYC dude, you'd be surprised by who else I'm kinda impressed with........... Slim Thug [yeah, I know that came out of left field.]
JADAKISS IS PROVING TO BE THE ANTI-WWE RAPPER OF THE DECADE RIGHT ABOUT NOW. And that's refreshing. If he has a lot of success, it will clean up the industry from all the lames... but that remains to be seen; dollar for dollar, lames sell. I really wish him good things in the near future in his career.
IN FACT, NY RAPPERS SEEM TO BE SOBERING UP... WELL, SOME OF THEM.
With the exception of those who try to make Dirty-Souf sounding records, I see hope beyond the horizon for NYC artists. Somehow, the memo has gone out to lay off the coonery and minstrel show. Not everyone has gotten it, but some sure have.
HAHAHAHAAAA... ay, Bigup2bk... if you're the king of the term "Uncle Tom" I must be the same for the term "coonery." We both have to publish Merriman-Webster style definitions on this blog real soon!
Slowly but surely, the coons are leaving town and going back to where they migrated from... Atlanta! It's like a dark shroud is lifting and people are starting to see the light. Even Camron is starting to mature. Jim Jones will drink his own Kool-aid soon and clock out. Fab is laying low and regrouping (haven't heard an R&B remix in WEEKS!] These are all some good signs.
@ BIGUP: In fact, I believe you can even admit that ya boy (Curtis Jackson) is starting to see the light, right? [insert heinously sarcastic laugh]. Come on, mayne! There's been no cartoons or wig skits in almost 3 weeks. That's gotta account for something, right? LMAO.
The day you give Fif a compliment, hell will freeze over!

LOL. Yo, mayne. You've gotta stop giving away my boobytraps like that! My posts are nothing BUT traps... why you think they're so long! HAHAHAHAAAAA... This is like the Discovery Channel to me, fam. Work is stressful so this is entertainment with some knowledge mixed in.
SPEAKING OF LEGACIES OF HIP HOP LEGENDS... maaaaaannn... I just read a story on mediatakeout about Big Daddy Kane. Or should I say, "saw" a story.
F#CKED... ME... UUUUP!!!
I mean, he still has the title as one of the GOATS, but his license is suspended for about a month.

LMAO -
The term Uncle Tom just fits - LOL. It stings. It is the Black man's version of white folks' word "Nigger" - LMAO. That is why I use it so much. It sends the curtis stans crazy (lol).
It is funny that although Black hip hop listeners have sort of lost their voice in thiship hop thing - white kids will still follow what Black youth says is hot. The problem is that Black youth are looking at record sells and ad whatever sell they are saying is hot which continue to keep whiteboys essentially buying the same sh*t. It is like watching a dog chase his own tail.
Your observation of Curley Jackson is on point. 50 is scared. He has seen ja fall and he now see the same storm winds that took out Ja blowing his way. He is too arrogant to admit it but he now knows that setting himself up to play a coon named Curley was a bad decision. That sh*t recked his image. It is hard to see a cat as hard when he is wearing a wig...lol.
Remember how you and I were laughing about Rick taking on fif - given his CO background. If you recall, you and I both predicted that 50 would make quick work of Ross. I personally thought that after 50 was finished with Ross that Ross would see about 50 000 in the first week. However, this dude may do 250 in the first week.
50 needs to re-invent himself. He knows it too. The question becomes, is it to late.
Personally I am happy for Jada. He was smart to stay out of the Ross - 50 beef. He may actually go gold. That will be a nice piece of change for Jada.
@ React:
Man, I have become a spectator of your work....lol. I just sit around and enjoy your work...lol.
People have yet to catch on to your tag name...lol.
By the way, say hello to garbageman, MJP, main - but you know him as Athiest.
Anyway, I am waiting for you to nab a really big fish. Reckless would be pretty impressive (lol).
Yo... mad co-signs on that last post.
1) "The term Uncle Tom just fits - LOL. It stings." EXACTLY. It's the worst thing a Black man can call his fellow. Actually, you gave Webster-style definition yesterday. You wrote:
"You are comfortable with Black men dressing up like women - wearing wigs, praising their oppressors, dancing, laughing and chucking and jiving for you, degrading their women, while exalting yours and making you billions of dollars while the community in which they come from continue to starve.
It's the part about "praising your oppressors... degrading your own women while exalting theirs" that hits the nail on the head. YOU ALREADY KNOW THAT YOU AND I DON'T AGREE on the 50 Cent issue - but you've always made a strong point that I wouldn't dare deny. It's just that I think MANY OTHERS are guilty of the same. But I won't get into that.
2) You wrote: "although Black hip hop listeners have sort of lost their voice in thiship hop thing - white kids will still follow what Black youth says is hot. The problem is that Black youth are looking at record sells and ad whatever sell they are saying is hot which continue to keep whiteboys essentially buying the same sh*t."
Not only was that true, it was also deep. Last week or so, I debated with Nimrod on the reason why White kids liked 50 Cent so much. He was stating that it was because of his relationship with Eminem, but I saw it differently.
3) You wrote: "He is too arrogant to admit it but he now knows that setting himself up to play a coon named Curley was a bad decision. That sh*t recked his image. It is hard to see a cat as hard when he is wearing a wig...lol."

5) "50 needs to re-invent himself. He knows it too. The question becomes, is it to late."
YO, MAYNE. I KNOW IT LOOKS I'M JUST BITING... BUT THAT SIMPLY WAS SOME GOOD, CLEAR LOGIC. And the reason why it's noteworthy is because everywhere you look on the net on all the sites, you have nothing but knuckleheads expressing some knuckle-headed opinions.
And we all already know you're far from a 50 Cent supporter. I just like logic and sense.
That was on point.
What up Bigup2bk & REACT
@ REACT...I saw that same post on mediatakeout..Man that was enough to bring a grown man that loves Hip-Hop to tears...I damn near threw up!!!
@ React
Thanks for the acknowledgement. I was out of town last week at a conference so I missed the discourse that you had with Nim. When you two go at it is like watch old clips of Ali and Frazier or Leonard and Hearns.
You dudes blog the way I think blogging was intended to be. I may have to dig back in the SOHH crates to check that one out.
Clo-fresh wrote: @ REACT...I saw that same post on mediatakeout..Man that was enough to bring a grown man that loves Hip-Hop to tears...I damn near threw up!!!
LMBAAAAO. I've got no words for it, man... absolutely nothing. That's a 1-month suspension from the G.O.A.T. list minimum for Kane.
And I'm not even trying to hear anyone's explanation or excuse for it. I don't care if it was the 80's. There's no justifying it!!!
I missed the Kane Story - mediatakeout.com is like star magazine of the "net" but with that being said what was the article about?
Nevermind- I just saw for myself.
@ bigup2bk & REACT...
I love reading you 2 go at it.. Wheather agreeing, disagreeing or simply acknowleding facts or opinions...
@ REACT...I been caught on to the meaning of your tag name..You just react to what the bloggers or even commentors say.."NICE"!!
@bigup2bk...Real Talk man...When I saw that, my mouth just dropped and I couldn't say a damn thang!!!
SERIOUSLY... I'M DEMANDING A PRESS CONFERENCE IMMEDIATELY!
I need to see Kane stand before 10 microphones with paparazzi flashing, and his lawyer standing behind him. I want the whole Kobe Bryant "I cheated" interview... tears included.
Ay, Michael Vick locked up RIGHT NOW for offenses less than this!!!
@ Bigup... you don't gotta reading nothing. You will "see" everything you need to know about the topic.
AND I KNOW NIMROD CAN'T WAIT TO POUNCE ON BROOKLYN RIGHT NOW!!!
A....ya'll need to warn a bruh. I went looking' for trouble it seems. My view of King Asiatic Nobody's Equal has been tarnished. THANKS. But he did say he was RAW, here to bring trouble to you (us).
@ Clo-fresh:
Yeah, I really can't speak about that at all. I have to take a pass on that. They should warn people before open up that link.
In fact, if you are a straight man, do not open up the Big Daddy link on mediatakeout.com
@ REACT....ROFLMFAO @ your last comment...You had me weak!!!
@ REACT....ROFLMFAO @ your last comment...You had me weak!!!

I think that Nim is going to take a pass on that one. I don't think that anyone will want to talk about that link at all.
LMAO. (I can't believe this is happening!)
F#ck you, Kane! F#ck you!
That's all I gotta say!
Now I'm mad as f#ck at anybody who will try to justify this. Let's not even try it.

(trap set)
Like the rest of you dudes, I am trying to forget that I ever saw that sh*T...LMAO.
@Bigup2bk I think it was Jay-Z who really made the 1st week sales important. Just the line " I sold what ya whole album sold in my 1st week" says it all. At that time Jay was the most influential in the game and everyone was following him. I think 50 took it and made it into what it is today.

(Last one before I bounce)
@ new bloggers/readers
In case you're wondering where the mutual respect between me, Bigup2bk, and Nimrod comes from - especially the fact that I stayed clear of Bigup's battle on yesterday's topic - it's all in the sohh.com archives (I'll spare you the links).
Particularly on the subject of 50 Cent/Geoge Bush/ Katrina/ Kanye West... Bigup and I have had "World War 3" on it, the two of us coming from opposite opinions. Neither one of us changed the other person's position, but there's mutual props for having LOGICALLY STATED & SUBSTANTIATED our views.
So, I know where homie is coming from, even if I don't share the same view. We keeps it grown and educated, even if it gets fierce.
This blog has had some great moments. We've debated everything from politics, religion, history, and sciences on here - all with eloquence, all from a Hip-Hop/urban perspective. For most of us, we're at work and just using the blog to relieve tension or switch up the pace for the day. It's some good sh*t.
@ Bigup2bk. Before I bounce, I've got one word for you: ASSIMILATION. Hahahahahahaaaaaaaah... yo... we gotta pick that one up again someday... AND NATIONALISM too... but I fear it would be too much for the Kool-aid drinking kiddies to bear. They'd get cranky and start calling for they mama in 15 minutes.
CONFESSIONS: The following paragraph was included solely as a trap:
I wrote: "Slowly but surely, the coons are leaving town and going back to where they migrated from... Atlanta! It's like a dark shroud is lifting and people are starting to see the light. Even Camron is starting to mature. Jim Jones will drink his own Kool-aid soon and clock out."
Either the fish weren't biting today... or they just too dumb to read.
GHOST.
@ React
LOL....Man, we went at it!
The assimilation/Black nationalism argument was huge...LMAO.
I was determined not to let you and Nim stick that "Back to Africa movement label" on me. I knew that you all wanted to do it, too (lol). I refused to walk into that trap...lol. I knew if you dudes stuck that on me that I was finished...lol.
Do you remember that show down that Nim and I set up at the Newark, NJ's Airport? That was crazy....LMAOOOO
However, in all of our back and forth we all had one common premise and that was - how can Black people progress. I started to respect you dudes so much because you were principled and intelligent. I was so used to cats talking like fools on here that you dudes became my only reason to signing on. It was like being a football player and going back to camp for the purposes of getting back in shape and getting your game at peak level.
React, your arguments were alway logical and sound. I just disagreed with the viewpoint but it wasn't because you dudes were not extremely smart. I always had to bring my "A" game when I debated you cats. Nim was provocative. I understand why now. He had to be that if he was going to reach and teach cats.
It is funny because some of the things Nim have said to me a year ago i find myself now agreeing with. Nim may be the most misunderstood person on the net. That brother is a good dude.
React you are the perfect dude to debate because if a person doesn't know what they are talking about - you are going to take that person's ignorance and keep walking them back and forth into a brick wall until they understand that battling you without preparation is a very bad idea....LMAOOOO.
I won't mention the person's name but i used to watch you walk this dude out into traffic during rush hour every single day...lol. What was funny was that through this cat's ignorance, you had him play in traffic with his own blessings. I used to sit there and crack up because I knew what you were doing.
At the end of the day, I grew to respect you dudes because you dudes have a deep intellect and it is strong. I have learned alot from you dudes and that is why I respect you cats. You two dudes and E frazier are probably the only dudes on here that can stop me when i am going off on the deep end. These dudes should pay yall a toll because if yall wasn't around it would be open season on some of these cats.
Anyway, I have to bounce. However, I will stay tuned to see who the next person will be to walk in to your mouse trap...lol.

HA Ha Assimilation...
anyhoo, I been on this site sense DSC (Da Saga Continues) went down and I only started commenting now cuz i'm loving how the grown folks is speaking truth (or opinion) and recognizing both as just that. and not flaming each other for it. etc.

Shouts to VerbalPainter... I see you, mayne!
@ Bigup2bk.
The Black Nationalism/Assimilation issue was very, very edifying if you ask me. You saw how people were so quickly spooked out by the terms. We left those traps out there for a few weeks and dozens took the bait. You can always tell the "Wikipedia scholars" from the actual thinkers. Fools were coming at me with internet definitions... not having a clue what the subject matter consisted of, and not being able to see beyond their pre-programed "hood mentality."
Just watching how many bloggers fell over the cliff like mindless lemmings was both entertaining and depressing.
And when we finally began to explain it, I for one felt that it resulted in some very positive things. Without going over all the details, I'm a small-biz owner in Brooklyn (architect/contractor/pseudo-developer). I still remember your points on Black Nationalism - not the "Let's go back to Africa" stance (LOL) - but building up the Black community to function in a self-sufficient, self-funding manner... similar to what Jews have done.
I kid you not, I really took that to heart! I can truly say that I have always tried (and tried even harder) to setup ways to improve the situation for my part of town (Flatbush)... but it continues to be difficult.
I also remember the brother "Brooklyn_B" and his thoughts on (1) Black people not moving out the hood; and of course (2) F-da police.
Yo, there have been many productive exchanges on this blog.
Bigup2bk wrote: "React you are the perfect dude to debate because if a person doesn't know what they are talking about - you are going to take that person's ignorance and keep walking them back and forth into a brick wall until they understand that battling you without preparation is a very bad idea"
LOL. Yeah, just thinking back has me cracking up, too! Remember how that trap was set? After a long discussion about improving the state of Black America, I threw in something like, "The best solution to the problem is none other than assimilation."
Fools were eating off of that for days! These idiots were cut-n-pasting standard definitions from Wikipedia and what not... calling me a Tom and a self-hating Black man... that is, IF they believed that I was Black.
Ask me what I do on this blog and my answer would be to trigger the ignorant to expose their deep ignorance and in the process drown themselves in it. When you couple this with the arrogance and boldness which an anonymous blog provides, you will find idiots who finally catch on to me exposing their ignorance... BUT THEM BEING TOO ARROGANT TO ADMIT IT... thereby perpetuating the imbecility. [Sigh]
The balance between Black nationalism and assimilation proved to be a realistic solution.
I BET YOU RIGHT NOW THAT SOME LEMMINGS ARE READING THIS AND HAVE ALREADY BEGUN MARCHING TOWARD THE CLIFF.
[Sigh] The young Black mind is a terrible thing to waste!

That is funny as hell. The thing about it is that it is so easy to spot when these dudes do that . I mean after reading sloppy disconnected rhetoric and logic, post after post from some clown - out of nowhere comes this neat, coherent, logical and somewhat scholarly post, with words contained in the post that you know that the fool can't pronounce or tell you what it means (lol).
That sh*t is funny as hell. In fact, I had a clown do that to me yesterday (lol). Some fool was trying to give a literature review of Uncle Tom's Cabin. It was too funny. He pushed it off like it was his own in an effort to try to weaken and discredit my signature insult for 50 cents (lol). He even summons me to a certain segment of the book like he was teaching a course in African-American Lit or Sociology....lol.
Anyway, I always felt that we all were all closer in ideology than we were different. Many people don't know this about me but I am fairly socially conservative. I am more liberal when it comes to some govermental public policy especially around the idea of urban renewal and development and enterprise zones. However, I too am a strong believer in self help philosophies. I hate excuses. I hate cowards. I hate when people who are too cowardly to succeed and then scapegoat people who wern't even in the equation when they fail.
If I were to peg myself in a political light it would be as a centrist or a moderate leaning slightly to the left.
Oh and you certainly highlight people's ignorance and arrogance and put it on full display. The thing that always makes me laugh about that is they eventually faciltate the process for you...lol. That is what cracks me up everytime.
Anyway, I am glad that you dudes are still around. I have to make a few late night calls back home ( I am in Philly again). I am going to make them before it gets way too late.

Before I leave - Peace to the Homie, VerbalPainter.
My 50 rants are only for his annoying dumb ass stans. However, when we get some real dudes on here we build. There are differences and at times the water gets choppy but there is never a time where when the real cats are on here in a cohort that knowledge isn't born.

Pure Hilariousness
I will play the quiet role today. Been woke since midnight on some home front issues and now grinding at work the next 8 hrs.
Not that yall doing this for me, but keep it up.
I enjoy those who think, as opposed to those who blink...
too long and miss your points ending up pass their brink
of destruction.
One homie does Construction?
Why, that is just why I was wake a tid upped, friends.
Wide woke is my mind, last night included the phys. sense.
Discussions I witnessed left weak consciences in dense
situations
they simply drowned in.
Twas intense!
Yall took me back to being at home
the incense, buildin with bros in the basement, the fam-ahh-lee bidness.
Now master mind that, spread it to the other side-of-thee big fence.
Keep that expansion in practice, now we implee-menting-our-emprint (imprint)
Nah, not gonna start rhymin session, but P.E.A.C.E.
Good look for Jada.....he was trying to push that single with Ne-Yo hard too lol...but still pushing 100,000+ is a victory no one saw coming. And Wu-Tang....though I'd love another album pretty much the only niggas still rappin raw in that click are Meth, Rae, Masta Killa and RZA (to an extent). I'd even say U-God is coming harder than the other cats (and Ghost and GZA are my fav. out all 9 that exitsed) but the rest are too predictable and boring now. But yea RZA need to let Kanye, Just, and even Pete Rock help bring the soul on a track or two because he can't prodcue a whole album any more. Even some of the Wu Elements like True Master and Allah Mathmatics might be more "in-tuned" to the old sound.
