March 25th, 1997 was a good day, and a bad day. On the bright side, a classic album from Biggie Smalls-- namely Life After Death-- had just hit the streets. On the flip, the release of the album was a posthumous one. And being that B.I.G had just passed two weeks earlier, the wounds were still fresh. For many it didn't seem right that this album was released without the rapper known as Christopher Wallace there to witness it.

I had to go to three different video hosts in order to get the below videos from this album, by the way. Youtube is on some bullsh*t.

"Hypnotize"

"Mo Money Mo Problems"

"Sky's the Limit"

By the time the year 2000 came through, the double disc Life After Death was certified diamond.

By the time 2010 gets here, this album-- just like his debut Ready to Die-- will STILL be a timeless classic that will always sound like it was made just last year. What do I mean by that? Listen to the production. And it's kind of hard to explain, but if you hear both albums, the music is so intricately composed that it doesn't have a distinct '90s sound to it-- just like Dr. Dre's The Chronic. And Hov's Reasonable Doubt. In contrast, Nas's super classic Illmatic and Wu Tang's 36 Chambers you can DEFINITELY tell were made in the '90s. But both of these remain five-star classics nonetheless.

My point is, then, that there are certain albums that have a certain kind of sound which cannot be defined, categorized, or labeled. Ready to Die and, more particularly Life After Death, exemplifies this.

Many of you won't get my drift. But many of you will. And do.

Where were YOU when Life After Death became hot in these streets?

Also, when is the next time that we are going to get a timeless classic??? Other than Blueprint, was there one made this whole decade???? And even the Blueprint compared to "Life After Death" falls just a lil short in my opinion..That's how great the production and lyrics were...And Kanyeezy produced the majority of Blueprint..So that says a whole lot..

Well, you cant really rely on critics anymore. After we seen what was goin on at The Source you never really know whats goin on. Money can buy alot of BS. It also depends on where your from(region). West Coast have there's, We in the South have ours, and East Coast has there's. So when will there ever be another classic made? When Tupac gets back from his Cuban vacation and 50 Cent retires.

co-sign the youtube thing. its time to boycott or start a sohh video sharing sight

I remember the exact day I bought this album. I had bought another album along with it and the total was $33. I gave the cashier $60 and forgot to get my change. You do the math. Even though I was mad about losing out on my money, I dont regret getting that album. Classic.

Co-sign...i remember when i bought this album and just sitting in my apt thinking how tragically ironic that it was called Life After Death...it added an incredible aura to the album that you could only remember if you bought it when it came out...R.I.P BIG

Oh yeah, we was bumpin that joint at the NSU student union the day it came out. I couldnt believe how incredible that album was. wasnt to fond of "Going Back to Cali" and "Nasty Boy" (the remix with the "Nasty Girl" sample was hot though) but everything else incredible. 5 Mic classic for sure

we was still bumpin Pac music and laughing at biggie..........lol

I was on vacay in PR and I went to the music store to cop and it was sold out!!!! I was tight, how all the copies in a country where the native language isnt even english sold out? Thats how this album was a classic.

That album was trash.
A bunch of bullshit "look how much money I got" type bullshit. I wish he was still alive so he could see how wack his second album really was.

And don't get me wrong, I didn't like Pac either.

Co-sign Essex.
The main reason this album is even considered a classic it's because Biggie is dead. This is also why he and Pac are considered two of the greatest MCs. They were talented yes, greates even. But the two GREATESTS, not by a long shot.
