Not to promote an e-"beef"-- which seems easy to do these days-- but somehow some way, "someone" convinced N.O.R.E to poke fun at the fact that the Reggaeton portion of his career was a complete JOKE. More of a joke than Soulja Boy trying to spit hard lyrics. Or Soujla Boy, period. Or a dude from the South trying to interpret Nas' Illmatic. Imagine that "SNL" attemp
Let's not forget when N.O.R.E once BOASTED about his being the reason Reggaeton (is that even worthy of being capitalized?) had been exposed to even the furthest pockets of suburbia America. That was about 4-5 years ago. Seems like within this period of time, Noreaga has had time to reflect on how bad of a career move that was-- and with the help of It's The Real he's figured out his next best hustle. As illustrated by Capone.
No disrespect to N.O.R.E-- even though I've already done that-- but damn. Who did this dude think he was? Tego?
Just because you've been getting money in the main form of a particular genre for a long time doesn't mean you can rock with any one of its subgenres. And get a pass. Picture Nas trying to do a ringtone joint. Laughable isn't it? Kinda like N.O.R.E's spanish.
Another funny video. Another from-left-field concept.
what about illmatic we wont be able to interpet
I agree. Who does Nore think he is anyway? He'll always have underground status.
Reckless,
Yes, Reggaeton deserves to be capitalized, the music is not a sub-genre, and they don't need you to legitimize their business.
Those labels were independent for many, many years before the crossover to the States. I'm sure they're still doing shows, and moving forward. I feel Reggaeton, like Dancehall, comes and goes, and will be back again. I just hope they add some more variety and creativity to their formula next time.
Nore decided to ride the wave. Was it a bad move? If it put money in his pocket, and allowed him to make a decent living at the time...then the answer is emphatically No.
Niggas be hating on Nore!!! T.O.N.Y.!!! www.57thave.com
All I got say is...Reggaeton is alive and well...maybe not where you live but def in NYC and Los Angeles.
