Not pertaining to hip-hop-- directly. But definitely related. And definitely worth speaking on.
The "New York Post" is known for racism, bias, poking fun at murder, and downsizing Democratic news as much as possible-- unless they know it will make them a quick buck.
Take Obama's election, for example. When "The Hoax Post" saw how much money the "NY Daily News" was raking in on Obama's November 4th victory, they tried to follow suit by inserting a "36 page color pull-out of Obama & Election Night." But it took about two days for them to catch on. Other than that, the bosses at the tremulous tabloid are a bunch of racists.
But what else is new? That picture doesn't shock me. In fact, I expected it. Damn! What took you n*ggas so long?! I thought the French would take back the Statue of Liberty before "The Post" made a monkey out of Obama. This was LONG overdue.
There is really only one thing that irritates me about this whole fiasco. And it's not cartoonist Sean Delonas. It's not the cartoon itself. It's not even "The Post."
Pimp Al Sharpton aka O.G Katt Williams aka Press'n'Perm is back yet again. This time, he's thrusting his processed hairline into the forefront to lead a(nother) "protest" against "The Post" ... who many non-white New Yorkers already know as racist anyways. How many people are going to take time out of our schedules in these trying times to protest some stupid newspaper-- standing next to an idiot like Sharpton?
My problem with this moron is that his entire career has been based on every race-based incident in all of New York City, year after year. The moment the camera flashes die out and the interview opportunities take a back seat, Sharpton is once again on the off-season. He doesn't give a damn about black people. He only cares about himself and trying to get his name in history books next to Martin Luther King, Jr.
To sum it up, he's an opportunist. Nothing more. I wish these blinded idiots would stop spreading the word for his "protests" and other sh*t he organizes.
To reiterate popular belief, it's a lot of these coon rappers who keep illustrating the ignorant correlation between blacks and monkeys. If a beer bellied hillbilly who has never seen anything other than trailor trash turns on BET or MTV, then my guess is the image of Lil Jon flashing his teeth in the camera like a rabid horse is what stays with these people who have never seen blacks in any other light. Ignorant? Yes. But ignorance is bliss. They don't know anything else. If they've only seen "BET Uncut," "Rap City," and other sh*t where blacks degrade/coon/buffoon themselves, then what do you expect?
In the meantime, I'll make a note to not buy another "Post" ever again.
Ever.
Come to think of it, I should have probably done this already.

Plz believe that White people understand the Post is racist too. Not all white people are bigots. Not sure if you realize that or not.
"BLACK MONDAY MYSPACE SHUT'EM DOWN INITIATIVE" on Monday, March 9th, 2009.
This is going to be a 90-day initiative. NY Post is minuscule within the Murdoch portfolio. MySpace is a massive asteroid within is Virtual Universe.
The human body has 36 vital points. Attack its vital point and the body will sure to beg for mercy.
MySpace is that vital point that generates massive income for News Corp. By them losing tons of subscribers that will affect their audience metrics. Advertising revenue will decrease because that core audience is no longer there.
Blackplanet was on top at time. Then we all went over to MySpace and it lost its value. We can do it again!

How can u blame BET and rappers for racist whites calling black monkeys when they have been doing it ever since they encountered us in africa? I get your points...you dont like al Sharpton and you dont like the way rappers represent black people. But to say that tracist whites would not call blacks monkeys if they stopped is dead wrong. STOP MAKING EXCUSES FOR RACISTS. period pouint blank.....no amount of shucking and jiving is gonna make a racist like you....STOP TRYING.....STOP CARING about what a racist thinks.
Good post Reckless. I saw this yesterday and wondered why CNN isn't making a big deal out of it. I heard Michael Eric Dyson on there this morning and was intrigued by his response. In a nutshell, he told them that he isn't surprised. Keiren Chetry kept trying to center the interview to Eric Holder's race relations statement and he kept smashing her attempts. Now you have clowns like Hannity smashing Eric Holder for calling America "cowards when it comes to race relations". Fact is, papers like the NY post have their rights to free speech. We don't need to buy into it. In the words of Mr. Obama, "It's time to stop celebrating and get down to the people's business".
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Papers like the post and idiots like Murdoch and his Fox News cronies aren't worth the energy they receive. I'm disappointed in CNN, the Post and anyone else that put this story to the back.

As far as Sharpton, don't piss on him. He stays in his lane whether it's self-indulgent or not. Make your own decisions, hold up your head and stop getting outraged then going out and perpetuating stereotypes. Fact is, Sharpton has a national show in which he espouses his postions daily and brings on controversial figures then takes them to task. I'm not a fan of Sharpton but I overstand him. You're only pissing on Sharpton because you assume that most of your readers aren't aware of his nationally syndicated radio show. It broadcasts from 1-4 EST in most U.S. markets for the uninformed. He shoots down listeners that spout ignorant rhetoric, brings on controversial individuals with divergent opinions for dialogue and isn't afraid to take them to task when the truth doesn't match their rhetoric. He may be an ambulance chaser in public but at least he is active in the struggle whether phony or not. I refuse to question his motives because I don't know him personally nor am I a part of his inner circle. Don't sit up there on your high horse Reckless and assume that none of us are well-read and knowledgeable. That's where your post goes too far left. It resorts to the usual condescending tactics that have turned off most of your intelligent readers that used to ride with you.

Channels like BET have their place. Mess with them by not watching. Plain and simple!!!!!!!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't believe I'm co-signing a post from Reckless but I am. LOL! Keep this up and I'll have to eat crow.
Now, Racism is very real but lets keep in mind it's more a generational thing at this point. With each passing generation racial tolerance and acceptance increases. Lets not indict a whole group of people for the errors of a dying group. 62% of the voters for Obama were white and most of them were under 40 so same as hip hop the youth are the future. In time these racist scum will die off and hopefully live long enough to see their bloodlines get some color. ;)
Rupert Murdoch (owner of NY Post) is in his 70's and most whites that age hold disparaging views of blacks and the reverse is also true. In time this too will pass.

I'm sorry to say this but that won't work. You know the younger people is not giving up Myspace for nothing.
I have looked on this site for years, but never posted, because most of the time the readers get up in your stuff for misinformation or one sided views.
First off, there is NO excuse for the cartoon, no matter if you expected or not. You can't blame television, rappers, gangsta's or anything, because Obama (for example) is neither and still get called racist remarks. So that throws that theory of yours about blaming BET videos, etc. I'm sure you've been called worst by racist too. No other president have been attacked in this manner, no matter how bad or good of a president they were. Yet, Obama is president for 4 weeks and he has had numerous threats on his life and now he's getting attempts on his life via racist news articles.
You put blame on Al Sharpton. My question to you is how many times have you helped the Jena 6 get their case on a worldwide stage when it was being kept quiet. How many times have you spoke up for someone and brought attention to the matter that was otherwise ignored? Now, I'm sure you task of goodwill deeds will not exceed the number of fingers on your left hand, but I'll pretend you did something other than hated on the ones that stood beside you to right a wrong. This coming from a man that isn't the biggest Sharpton fan, but I respect him and I listen to his station and I know for a fact that he helps communities all over the states. So I give my respect and hope that after he dies, someone in our era could continue speaking for those without a voice.
If we keep laying down to whatever is done to us or continue being disrespected because of the color of our skin, then you might as well walk around with those chains around your arms and legs and live like the animal they think you are, "monkey".
I see people rushing to defend Sharpton as is their preference but keep in mind many of us find it hard to take him seriously. I don't care what he does on his radio show it's hard to forget him daring Steven Pagones to sue him while threatening to bring forth incriminating evidence in the Tawana Brawley case. Guess what? Pagones sued and Sharpton was exposed as the windbag he has always been. He lost then passed the hat for the money to pay Pagones. Yes even windbags serve a purpose but he has been a shamelss self-promoter, race hustler, and ambulance chaser.
Remember him crying crocodile tears to stop the US Army bombing drills in Puerto Rico? He even went to prison and lost weight but that stunt to get Hispanic votes failed miserably.
Remember him flip flopping while being a propaganda shill for Michael Jackson's battle with Sony? I do. He's been a whore for the highest bidder as long as I can remember.
Remember him threatening to shut down NYC in the wake of the Sean Bell verdict? Another empty threat from a professional windbag. What about his stint as an FBI informant?
I'm not saying Al his all bad. He does some good which is why he's still lingering but when put into perspective he's like so much in our community. More style than SUBSTANCE.
I wasn't gonna go in on Al like this but the attempt to distort his relevance and record in "Civil Rights" by his supporters cannot go unanswered. It's a sad day when all a black man has to do is speak in terms of black and white to bamboozle the naive. The man ran for mayor with no luck. Of course winning is never his goal because it remains beyond his reach and he lives for the spotlight like all attention whores. Next he ran for president. The highlight of his campaign was an appearance on SNL... How befitting for a jokester.
