This week in news has been more of a dud than Soulja Boy's album.  And then some newsworthy news surfaces: Shyne is (possibly) on his way home.

I caught wind of this story via SOHH, who reports that Shyne's attorney said (via HHDX) that Shyne should be on his way out no later than the summer time.

I'll fast forward through how shady Diddy is and how he left Shyne out on a limb, and so on and so forth.

The question arises: can Shyne make a come back?

No. And not because I'm denying his skills, but because he left the game at a time when things were all good, only to make a (possible) return when the game has died out. It's so dead, in fact, that the same 6 rappers keep dropping albums. And manage to sell. And the other 46 rappers either a) can't make a record. B) drop and flop. C) are mixtape/internet rappers and will always be. Or D)... just plain suck.

Shyne has been gone since 2001 or so. It's now 2009. Why don't we fill in the graduating prisoners of 2009 on the changes that have taken place in the past 8 years?

Number one, the younger demographic in hip-hop has arrived. "Who the f*ck is Shyne? We want Soulja Boy!" (Well, according to his sales, not really.)

Second, the sign of the times has come and gone. A lot of us have pretty much accepted it. The hip-hop throne that was once Def Jam has changed dramatically since that day they signed Shyne back in '04. Even though they under promoted his sophomore effort and shoved it under the rug. (Let's just say that Shyne's album was the beginning of Def Jam's new "f*ck rap" attitude.) But even still, just try and fathom the '09 Def Jam signing some rapper behind bars. Come to think of it, L.A Reid may just try and sign Chris Brown at some point during his incarceration.

Lastly, there's no competition. No grind. No nothing. The game is dead.

"I know he's anxious to get back into the recording industry," attorney Oscar Michelin stated on Shyne's behalf. "He's got a lot to say. And people are anxious to hear it."

People who still care will want to hear it. But other than that, Shyne will be returning to an empty house.

If fans are worried that Jadakiss will drop The Last Kiss and sell less than the worst rappers in the game right now, then ... fill in the rest.

My advice to Shyne is to steer clear of Diddy, at all "costs."

Shyne was a decent rapper but lets be real here, Puff or Diddy or whatever he calls himself these days signed Shyne because of the similarity with BIG's voice.

His struggle is real but I think the gamgsta phase of rap is over so Shyne may wanna try acting or a tell all book. For those who care about these things Shyne handled his time in Clinton much better than Tupac but none of that will translate to good MUSIC.

I'm no fan of Puff's but Shyne made a rookie move by pulling out his gun and shooting into the cieling of the club. To me he was going for brownie points and it got him 10 years. Once he put that gun in his waist and decided to pull it he should've been ready for the consequences. Instead he whined like a b*tch when convicted and blamed Puff. That's not gangsta.

Dudes gotta understand that in the REAL world sometimes the hero or bad guy gets jammed. That's how it goes but delusional rappers expect fairy tale endings to everything. I really think Shyne was trying to impress Wolf who was the other co-defendant. I'll never forget when the verdict came back not guilty Wolf broke down with relief and cried. God forbid if the jury had brought back a guilty verdict. The hip hop gangsta is a special breed indeed.

Shyne was wack before he went in, when he tried to release that joint while he was locked up, and he'll be wack when he's released. A continuing trend of whackness. Why would it be different this time around?

I still dont understand why Diddy would do that? was it worth it? has he tried to compensate him while he is in prison? what about Black Rob? is he still on the BadBoy roster? 2 me Diddy is the same as Suge Knight except Diddy will phuck u up with the paperwork!

Nim, I totally agree with your comments on yesterday's blog. I thought you made a really strong point regarding new joints vs. touring (with repsect to the older cats). I love PE, but I don't need a new joint from them. I much rather see them perform and perform their old stuff not something new. The people overseas would like to see the older cats perform and perform their old material, too.

As for Shyne, I'm a fan. However, the Game has changed so much since he has been in and I am not sure if there is a lane for him now. It would be great if Sean Combs had a nice big bag of money for him for doing that ride for him up state.

@Bigup

Peace bro. It would be nice if Puff hit him off but Shyne's finger pointing probably spoiled that. He was supposed to take that hit for the team like the soldier he pretended to be. You can't let the boss face charges cause then who's gonna conduct business if he falls? I would've respected him more if he cut Puff and Wolf loose and used the self defense ploy on his own. What sense did it make for all 3 of them to face the same charges when Shyne could've played it thorough right through? Instead it turned into every man for himself with Shyne coming out the loser. I still laugh every time I think about Johnnie Cochran and Puff praying the 23rd Psalm as the foreman read the verdict. I wonder what law school they taught that in. LOL!

Shyne did what lil boys do. He sought glory without being ready to pay the price and when it went awry he screamed no fair. Nobody owes him anything.

LMAOOOO

DAMN Nim, stop telling the truth....LMAOOOO

There are alot of dudes who mades those kind of deals and courtroom strategies....LOL.

Ok, I agree. You preemptively ethered all possible return responses (lol). Damn, sun....lol.

If any of the progressive cats are around, tell me what you think of Attorney General, Eric Holder's comment, regarding America being a nation of cowards when it comes to discussing and dealing with race issues. I will not offer my view at this time, but i am curious to see what other people have to say.
