Since everyone's writing letters-- mostly to illlustrate reverence and homage-- I'd like to write an (irreverent) letter to Def Jam, seeing the fuck-up its become.

"To whomever this may concern,

"Ever since L.A Reid stepped on board, this label has become a joke.

"I heard about Jermaine Dupri's confirmed departure from Island Def Jam. But that was expected. Despite his experience in the hip-hop field, we knew he'd never sign a relevant rap artist unless they sounded like Lil Bow Wow or Kriss Kross. So I guess you can say we instantly saw his entrance into the label's staff as yet another R&B project-- and he couldn't even get that sh*t right. And he couldn't get it right at Virgin either.

"After 25 years in business, it's disappointing to see what a foolish spectacle this label has become. You alienate your rap artists, yet you embrace your R&B artists-- even if it takes them extensive spending, six singles, and nearly 2 years to sell just 2 million albums. LMAO.

"Question: When Jadakiss said "I aint on a label no more" in his song "Letter to B.I.G," was this BEFORE he got signed to Def Jam, or AFTER he completed The Last Kiss? Perhaps he should change his album title back to Kiss My Ass.

Signed,

Reckless.

"P.S-- don't waste your time putting out anymore rap albums. The budget for the promo department sucks. In fact, subtracting from the rap budget and giving it to Pop is why Rihanna is getting so much pull. And Beyonce did in two weeks what Rihanna did in an entire year. Cornballs.

Reckless you sound real bitchy & butt hurt . .

What happened did the nerd ass white guy from Denver get that internship at Def Jam over you?

Real Talk....The label has been fucked up ever since Russy sold it...I knew that Def Jam was in for a huge shake up once that deal went down...Now Hip-Hops legendary pioneering company that put Rap and Hip-Hop as a whole on the map, has abandoned what made the label legendary!!!!!
What has the world come too.... Oh yeah...New Industry Exec's who haven't got a fucking clue and only care bout the $$$$ and not losing their ass kissing jobs....
