Throwback: When "The Source" was in its Prime - Live from '95

First and foremost, shout out and MUCH APPRECIATION to the THIMK blog for a five star post. This is the second time within seven days that "The Source" magazine has gotten some recognition.

Method Man, LL, Mobb Deep, Raekwon & Ghostface, Erick Sermon, Biggie, KRS-ONE, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Smif-N-Wessun, and Redman. 15 features on that cover. 10 of them from New York City alone. 5 from Cali. None from the South. Ahaha! Those were the days.

When I look at throwback issues of "The Source," it doesn't even seem real. How can rap be so successful, real, and full of life one decade, but completely fall into bits and pieces by the end of the next? Rap magazines nowadays are a JOKE. New York City rappers are a joke and lack unity, creativity-- and the realization that we are originators, so we need not to COPY people.

Blah blah. No need for a lecture. Rap is done. The heyday can't last forever. That's why it's called "heyday." But nevertheless, it's nice to be able to look back on where hip-hop USED to be.

Anyone seen this months "Source" cover? LMFAO. SMH, etc. But what can I say? They're trying to step it up from that god-awful year of 2007.
