Say word! No more corny covers with coons and cheesing from ear to ear with their grillz all over the front page. No more extremely LATE promo covers-- such as putting T.I on the cover two months after he released his album. And no more complete randomness, such as putting Akon on the front page for no apparent reason. All of this happened last year.
I was looking at the back issues that I have in my closet, and was comparing them with the issues of '07 that was looking real slim (read: no ads) and frail on the newsstands. All I could do was shake my head and hope that the brand name was too strong for them to completely fold.
"We couldn't sit on this cover any longer. With just 26 days until the election, and after Tuesday night's debate, we're too excited to keep our Politics Issue under wraps.
"The Politics Issue isn't just about Obama and McCain. But this special issue will let you know where the candidates stand on the issues you care about most.
"The issue is on newsstands later this month. In the meantime, be sure to GOTV (Get Out The Vote) and check on the I AM C.H.A.N.G.E. campaign:
I AM Change,
Conquering
Human Rights
Action,
Needed
Global
Empowering, Evolving--TheSource.com"
It looks like they've finally cleaned up their act. And to many this politics issue thing may seem weird. But open up an issue from the 90s. This magazine used to stand for everything hip-hop, everything cultural, and everything political.
This brings me back to that. Are they finally acting professional enough in that office to have a decent editorial meeting? Did a certain someone in there finally smarten up and realize that The Source means much more than that stupid Digital Dimepiece section? How bizarre. Looks like they've come a long way!
From what I "personally" witnessed, chicks in there were better off being either A - ugly; Or B - dressed like a butch dyke.
But in the words of Fresh, I digress.
This is the back cover of the mag. Like most, I don't support this unjust war. But I do support the troops.
