Some months back, Q-Tip released maybe two singles that were supposed to be in preparation for an album release. They never popped. Check out what he's up to now:

When I first turned my attention to this video, I expected just another concert performance. Turns out it's an unofficial video for an actual recording that was previously released. It sounds pretty good. It may not be for the radio-- unless they pay for it-- but it's a BIG step-up from that other bland material he released to the public.

Q-Tip - "Gettin Up"

Q-Tip's delayed album is still entitled The Renaissance and is supposedly set for release in October, according to sources. And this song has a version with Mos Def, which I'm sure would make the song even better.

Q-Tip is a good look. But rap still sucks. Somehow the bad always outweighs the good.

Q-Tip is a mature rapper. What you think is bland will sound so advanced when you're a few years older. (I assume you're in your 20s)

Look @ Mos Def's album "The New Danger". It's a solid 4 out of 5 star effort. But he went too far for the small minded and booty addicted crowds. But once they settle down, they will know how dope this album really was...

In the meantime, this new song is dope. But since he isn't crankin it, moving kilos or shooting your moms it may sound a little foreign.

If only he had left that bullsht about solidarity and orientation out of the last moments, we'd have a complete winner.

Q-Tip will be performing at BB Kings this Sunday Aug. 31st in NYC at the Black August Hip Hop Project. Doors open @ 11PM.

Damn! I've been thinking about this song for a hot minute, but it seems like Q-Tip is back on his grind! But then again, the dude has never been doing anything more than what was the extension of the ATCQ vibe. This track is on that grown man -ish that I don't think today's Soulja Boy/Lil' Wayne rap generation could vibe to. But fuck what they think,. I only think about what people who care about hip-hop think about it. Not these fickle here today, gone to whatever else is poppin hip-flop fans.

this joint... i heard this shit like 2 months ago. i thought you were talking about this shit when you said his single was wack.
