Almost 40, if not already. And still rapping? Yeah.

Wasn't Timbaland the one that came out and expressed his concern about Jay-Z's last album, American Gangster, not living up to Hov standards and said that if the album turned out to be a disappointment that it would ruin Hov's status in the game? Well a lot of us think this slacking trend of Jay's started after the release of his out-of-retirement album Kingdom Done Come.

Well, now that Jay has enlisted Timbaland-- and only Timbaland-- to work magic on his upcoming album, Timbo is singing a totally different tune:

"Jay should never chill," he told MTV in regards to the rapper's decision to return to music full time. "We had a long talk, and I really talked to him. Jay-Z does it for the love. That's different. When somebody does it for the love, you don't stop. He has everything, but he's still current. A million people are buying his album regardless."

"We wanna go to the world. The world is 'Big Pimpin'.' 'Big Pimpin' ' is an international hit, so we wanna do 10 of those.

"He wants me to do the whole thing this time around. I'mma make it a classic too. You better believe it. It'll be a monster!"

After watching Timbaland produce countless hip-hop hits throughout the years and seeing what did for Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake, I believe it. But damn. A rapper as great as Hov shouldn't need his entire album produced by a single super producer in order to regain his momentum.

But then again, if we had some real rappers who weren't busy faking their first-week sales, we wouldn't need Jay-Z-- or Nas. Now would we?

Agree with that. Jay Z and Nas are still dope but are still major artists because a lot northern artists are slacking. I wish could get a full length from Jadakiss though. Damn, what it take for him to get someone to release his album???? - Haasim, The Black Art Depot (www.blackartdepot.com)

First off, Reckless, stop hatin on Young Moola. 2nd, I do agree, someone as great as Hov should not have to his whole albumn produced by Timbo to make it a smash classic albumn. No doubt, How will still sell A Milli, but the difference between the new Hov and the old Jigga is basically he has grown up with grown $$$. You can hear it in his ryhmes. He doesn't have that hunger anymore and is talking about shit that our young folks don't even know about. For ex: nobody in my hood knew of Purple Label or who manufactured it. I'm not going to lie, I'm a big Hov fan, but I can't see buying his albumn as I had done so faitfully in the past simply because his $$$ is to grown and that is probably all that he is going to talk about. Hov, needs to get political and speak on the current recession. That's what the people are yearning for. We really don't want to hear how you switched from a G-5 to a G-6 and how your assests are almost reahcing the billion dollar mark. Yeah, we know that you are on another level than most rappers in the game, and I don't expect him to rap about hustling and shit like that. If Hov is as smart as he think and say he is, then he should switch up the game and make it cool for the old heads to keep rapping simply by educating our youth and rap about what the other rappers are afraid to rap about. And i'm speaking from what people in my hood are saying. AND YES, THE THUGS AND DRUG DEALERS ARE SAYING THE SAME.

So what if HOV dont rhyme like he used to. He's still one of the greatest rappers of all times. Today, you got niggas like souljaboy and webbie tryna get recognition off one track that they aint talking about SHIT on. They aint speaking about no tru shit. They talking about how much bitches & money they copping .. its kinda sad cuz ima BIG hiphop fan. In approx. a year or so i think i'll jus turn to country music.

Yo...JaeDiva, I understand what your saying but, how old are Webbie and Soulja Boy. They are basically still new to the game and are only appealing to the people around their age and younger. You can't even hold them in the same regards as Hov. When you were a teen, I bet you were talking about how many hoes you want to fuck or have fucked and how much $$$ you got, or how much $$$ your trying to get. Can't even believe that you went as far as trying to compare the 2. When I was 16-18, all I cared about was, staying fresh to death, and how many hoes were swinging from my jock strap.

I see my man is still SOHH Recklessly hating again...
I can't wait to hear another HOV album, been a fan for a long time and can't wait to see his EVOLUTION on this next album...He doesn't need Timbaland to get him back on track, he never fell off...

This specific blog and other like this on this website are whats wrong with hip-hop.

You got 1 blogger talking about because the "greatest rapper alive" aka Jay-Z, doesn't talk about the same shyt he did in 96 he has fallen off. I mean have you ever heard of the word "evolution"?? Why the hell would I want Jay-Z, still talking about the shit he did in 96, if he aint living it no more!!..don't make sense!

Then you have another blogger (gyant) posting an article about the poor record sales of Killer Mike. When Hip Hop started it wasn't done for the sales. Unfortunately and fortunately that has been its evolution. Hip Hop in the 80's, aint the same as the 90's and it sure aint the same now. If Killer Mike wanted more record sales, he should've released more music for people to buy and had better promotion!

Another JAY Z Album ::::You have to understand, the art of being a business man, an oppurtunist and the obvious fact that Nas album has already been tagged as a classic by critics, heads and streets.... Which will trigger the Love but most importantly the vocal sport and spirt of rap competion! which at the ending of the day attracts enough hype, attention and a platform for sales based on these attributes.... @ the end of the day its all your play !!!!!

jay-z needs to do a cd with unknown producers - that would be a nice cd

Jay Z is #5 of all time on my list but it's over. The dude is 41. He's older than LL. I think old rappers should stick to their catalogue. I like the old stuff. I like old PE not new Chuck D. I like 90's Nas not Nigger Nas. Clear the lane and let the newbies get a shot. It was NEVER meant for 40yr old rappers to gobble up production budgets at labels. Hip Hop began as music for kids by kids. This shit is ridiculous. 40yr old niggas with sagging pants. Actually it's a damn disgrace. Grow up already.

JAY STILL GONNA SMASH YOU HATERS THE FOOL MADE REASONABLE DOUBT HOW CAN YOU HATE ON SOMEONE LIKE THAT. I'M FEELIN IT!
