Yawn.
First of all, everyone knows I'm not a Weezy fan, but I have friends that are. And I've heard Tha Carter III over and over... and over. While III is a decent album, Tha Carter II is the better of the three-- and others agree. Weezer sold more in the first week this go-round, but the boost in sales comes from his strengthened following and extra hype, not because the album was that great.
As the former backbone of one of the greatest rappers that had ever lived, I have madd respect for the 90s Puff Daddy-- but not the new millenium Diddy. For him to compare Tha Carter III to albums like All Eyez on Me, Life After Death, The Blueprint, Illmatic, Ready to Die, The Chronic..."N*gga is you crazy?" LMFAO. Pure comedy.
Someone didn't "hesitate to put this n*gga on his back" with his legs cocked up like Tyson did Big Tigger. 'Cause this dude is co-signing hard body when it's the other album he should've been ranting and raving about, if anything.
There's no need to go in on Diddy for this one. People like myself who owns every one of those classic albums knows better than to take him seriously. Besides, he signs artists like Cassie and Yung Joc. *Snicker*
**P.S... those under 20 years of age and who listen to cats like Soulja Boy, do not respond. Chances are you know NOTHING about the six classic albums that were mentioned.
I have'nt really listened 2 Tha Carter III yet 2 even categorize it with those classic joints that P*ssy, oops I mean Puffy mentioned, matter of fact Y is he co-signin' dude in the first place?
Peace 2 The Usuals!
U.S. lawmakers want Mandela off terror list
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Some U.S. lawmakers are trying to pass legislation to remove former South African President Nelson Mandela from a U.S. list of terrorists by his 90th birthday next month, officials said on Thursday.
South African Ambassador to the United States Welile Nhlapo said he was in talks with the State Department and lawmakers to resolve the issue by Mandela's birthday on July 18.
Lawmakers in April introduced legislation in Congress to remove Mandela from the list, a step that is normally a government administrative matter, because they were frustrated by the time the process was taking
The State Department has said it and the Justice Department fully support the bill, which passed the U.S. House of Representatives on May 8 and is awaiting Senate approval
We have been able to clarify and resolve certain questions that were hanging in the minds of some people as to whether to support the process or not," Nhlapo said without elaborating.
"We are trying ourselves to talk to some of these people, clarify what else they may have on their mind ... so that we can get this over," he added.
The former South African president and some in the now-ruling African National Congress are still blacklisted under U.S. laws and need special permission to enter the United States more than a decade after the apartheid struggle ended.
No plan has been announced for Mandela to visit the United States once the bill passes. He last visited the United States in May 2005.
The ANC was banned by South Africa's white rulers in 1960, its leaders jailed or forced into exile until the ban on the movement was lifted 30 years later.
Strict security measures passed by Congress after the September 11, 2001 attacks against the United States kept the ANC's "terrorist" label because it used armed force as part of its campaign against apartheid.
Nhlapo said he was worried the legislation would get delayed by Congress' summer recess. Congress takes a break over the July 4 week and then recesses for much of August.
"Certainly there is a lot of anxiety and interest in South Africa as to the resolution of this matter particularly by the time of Mandela's birthday," Nhlapo added.
Rep. Donald Payne, a New Jersey Democrat, told the Africa Society late on Wednesday that removing organizations from the terrorist list was an administrative matter that had taken too long, adding: "We're trying to make sure that he is not a terrorist when we celebrate his 90th birthday."
Mandela was jailed for 27 years for his struggle against apartheid, and has become a worldwide symbol of freedom. He was hailed for overseeing the peaceful transition from white to black rule as South Africa's first post-apartheid era president.
ive red about ice t dissing soulja boy and ive seen soulja boys responce on you tube but this is what i think ...everybody that listens too true hip hop says or have said soulja boy is wack.so ice tea isent the first..its not like ice t said he was gonna beat the kid up.you can go online or go to the hood or what ever and people will say soulja is wack and that he can eat a dic. i dont think soulja boy is the new hip hop.and its not older dudes who think hes wack dident some 13 year old boy throw a rock at soulja boys tour bus few months back??and broke the window. im in my mid 20s and i no 18 and 19 year olds who think the kid is wack. soulja boy is wack and his music sucks and being poor doesnt give you the rite too make wack songs that kill hip hop.if thats the case wont every poor 17 year old make a wack ring tone song and have it played over and over and see how the real hip hip heads feel about it. what ice t was trying to say is their useing one hit wonders and makeing black people look stupid by makeing these wack songs.we grew to far as a culture to have hip hop be done like this.when it was time for rappers like big daddy kane, rakim, and tribe called quest too step down and let the new rappers in they did it with respect cause they new the new rappers at that time where gonna hold it down like, nas,az,wu tang, snoop, mobb deep, jay z,big pun, biggie, pac, bigL,fat joe, redman, common, ect. they new those rappers where gonna hold it down, all the rappers i just name ant gonna let these new wack rappers take over shiit cause they wack.its all commical songs for little 10 year olds and white girls on x.peace!!!! props to ice t for speaking the truth…
HERE WE GO... COMMENCE THE ASS KISSIN...
It seems like just yesterday Weezy was viewed as the imbecile and gimmick he truly is. But since having maximized his buzz and doing record numbers, everyone is forming a line to bow down to the new paper champ.
As amazing as Weezy's feat was (in this day and era of digital downloads), it spells the beginning of the "Dark Ages" of Hip Hop (and you thought it was bad leading up to this). Lyricism - no, even just a decent attempt at rhyming - has been thrown out of the picture. And this has nothing to do with people such as myself being 90s "old heads" (I'm 31 yrs old). It's just seeing the genre die out because of the influence of knuckleheads who like trash, and the execs who will push whatever trash the knuckleheads like for the $$$
Dayum... where's Kanye at???
JUST HEARD THAT BUCK AND GAME ARE ON THE SAME TRACK...
Driving to work, caught it on the Ed Lover show (surprised they edited out the F-bombs but kept "Niggaz"). SHAKING MY HEAD at the level of "pathetic" this has reached.
The tape of the conversation was hilarious. It was embarrassing for Buck but revealing of the truth. (And Banks can't say sh*t about recorded phone calls because he's on record for having done it to Wayne in the exact same position).
Buck responding with slick talk on a diss track was pretty pathetic enough. Fool, you aired our OWN ass out and went on and on talking like a crackhead begging the dealer for a free hit. (Buck substantiated every allegation 50 made, especially how broke he is.)
But Buck getting Game (yes, disgruntled employee of the decade Game) to do the track with him just killed it for me. It was funny-pathetic looking at these clowns before... now it's just pathetic... very, very pathetic. These guys know how to ruin a good rap beef overnight.
THERE'S NOTHING MORE HO-MOTIONAL & B*TCHASS than these two "rejects" tag-teaming to go at the man that squashed them.
* I thought y'all hated each other? Now it's all "water under the bridge" just because both of you are sitting in the unemployment line??? Misery loves company... but how "gangsta" is that? Nevermind, how "MAN" is that?
* On the track, that idiot Game said "I've been waiting 3 years for this." LMAAAAAO!!! Wait, I thought you had moved on with that G-Unit beef. But the truth is it's been on your mind (and killing you) all this time. That fool couldn't WAIT for a chance to retaliate.
* WHAT WOULD A GROWN MAN WHO REALLY GOT OVER IT DO? Act like it doesn't bother him and leave those two be. But with this performance, Game wins the Pink Thong Award, forreal!
* Their record should be titled "Two Women Scorned." This display of b*tchassness is absolutely amazing. And there's no way you obsessed, blind stans can spin this!
* I am still amazed at how (Nigga HOW) people let Curtis Jackson f#ck them up mentally like this. Whether you justify it or not, any boss has the prerogative to fire whoever he wants. But the REACTION by these guys is absolutely idiotic.
This ain't even funny anymore.
Yea man Diddy trippin. Wayne mah favorite rapper....matter fact u might could call me A Lil Wayne stan, and I'm willin to say THa Carter 3 aint dat damn good. But it's still cold tho!
I have to co-sign both Reckless and the God, Dre G. The Carter III is not amongst those classic joints mentioned in Reckless post. Also like Reckless said - I would not consider myself a fan of Weezy but I don't dislike him. With that being said, The Carter III is decent. The Mr. Carter Joint is a problem. Also hold your seat belts NYC; The Carter III is now in my rotation in the "whip". The beats and tracks without anyone sptting on it - just the beats and tracks alone are fire. It really is superior to anything out there right now. It almost reminds me of Kanye and how gets down with beats. Wayne's spitting is above average on this joint. He also has a good diversity of topics. Oh and all of guests bring it.
I am surprised that I am saying it but the joint is really decent. You can play it from beginning to end even with Wayne 's (at times) annoyng voice.
Ok, I can't hang around to fight with cats about what I said...lol. I am in meetings until Lunch time.
Peace to Dre G and the rest of the real.
Diddy must be a silent invester in the Carter 3. I know Birdman is rubbing his hands together like in that Nolia Clap video. Thinking about all the money he's gonna take from Wayne. 1.5 million in 1st wk, 50 Cent is not going to like this, not one bit.
Rose eager for a Chicago homecoming
Chicago native averaged 14.9 ppg and 4.7 apg while leading Memphis to the Final Four as a freshman
Becoming the potential face of the franchise for your hometown team would be a lot of added pressure for a 19-year old to handle.
Just don’t tell that to Derrick Rose—it’s a dream of his and it could very well come true on June 26.
"I thought LeBron James was the luckiest guy in the world playing for his home state," Rose said after visiting the Bulls for a private workout at the Berto Center on Thursday. "Now I get that chance. I hope the Bulls pick me."
Rose won back-to-back state titles while attending Simeon Career Academy High School on Chicago’s South Side and nearly added a national championship to his resume when he led his Memphis Tigers to the NCAA Final Four as a freshman.
The self-described unselfish point guard went one-on-one with Bulls.com following his workout to talk about his days in the Public League, his impressions of John Paxson and Vinny Del Negro, and what it would mean to begin his pro career at home.
Bulls.com: How do you feel your workout went?
Derrick Rose: “I thought it went well. I wasn’t hitting my threes as consistently as I would have liked, but I was happy with my mid-range game and that’s something I’ve been working on. I know I’m not an outstanding three-point shooter right now, but at the same time I’m capable of knocking some shots down. I’m comfortable hitting shots off of picks and that’s a big part of the pro game.â€
Bulls.com: Was there anything in particular that you tried to showcase?
Rose: “I just wanted to show them that I can shoot. Everyone says I can’t, but I think part of that is because I was more focused on getting my teammates the ball in college. I know shooting is something that I can improve on and if the Bulls pick me, I’ll do everything I can to do that. I’m getting as many shots up as I can every day and I’m focused.â€
Bulls.com: Where have you be working out in preparation for the draft?
Rose: “I’ve been in L.A. all summer, working out with guys like [Russell] Westbrook, Brook and Robin Lopez, Martell Webster, Josh Shipp and a few others.â€
Bulls.com: Some fans may not realize this, but you’ve already played in a game at the United Center, a televised contest in which Simeon dominated Washington in the 2007 Chicago Public League championship. What was that experience like for you?
Rose: “There was a lot of love in the United Center that night. It was pretty packed for a high school game and I guess I put on a little show with a few of my dunks. It felt so great playing there and that’s just another reason why I’d like to play there as a member of the Bulls. The crowd was amazing and they really got into it and people were excited to see us play. It was a great feeling.â€
Bulls.com: How did playing in the Public League and winning back-to-back state titles prepare you for your freshman year at Memphis?
Rose: “It kind of got me used to playing on a big stage, which I love to do. Winning the championships gave us all a lot of great exposure with all the people who were at those games or read about us in the papers. We played a lot of big games, but the pressure never really got to me because I always felt I was in control of the game.
“At Memphis, the biggest game prior to the tournament was when we played Tennessee and that was one of the most hyped games I’ve ever played in. It felt like we were playing at an NBA-level, because so much was on the line and I learned a lot from that game. I stopped watching TV as much because the critics can get to you. I also realized that you have to be relaxed when you’re on the floor. Games like that helped prepare me for my future.â€
Bulls.com: Talk about your decision to attend Memphis and what it was like playing for John Calipari.
Rose: “There were a lot of things. First, (Memphis Dir. of Student-Athlete Development) Rod Strickland played in the NBA and was a point guard who I think is among the top ten assist leaders of all time. Coach Calipari had coached in the NBA and the team had a lot of veterans there who I knew would ease the pressure on me coming in.
“My role was to prove to them that I was willing to do whatever it took to win. We worked hard to get where we did. Memphis was a great place for me though—they ran a system that suited my style of play and coach really liked to put the ball in my hands.â€
Bulls.com: You recently said that you were glad that you couldn’t go pro right out of high school. How important was your one season of college ball?
Rose: “It was crucial. I thank God for it because I was nowhere near ready to go from high school to the league. I just wasn’t ready. But as last season went on, I knew I kept getting better. My IQ kept getting higher, we started to gel as a team, and I became more of a leader.â€
Bulls.com: You really turned it on during your remarkable run in the NCAA Tournament. To what do you attribute your season-ending success?
Rose: “I’m just an extremely competitive person. Everyone was saying I was too young or that an older player was going to get the best of me because they were older, but age doesn’t always matter. It’s about being the better player. I just wanted to prove people wrong and show that I was the best player on the court.â€
Bulls.com: Coach Calipari was quoted as saying, “He could have scored 30 a game for us if he wanted to, but he understood by scoring 14, we had a chance to win every game.†What’s your reaction to that statement?
Rose: “I was willing to do whatever the team needed me to do, whether it was rebounding or taking shots. Last year, they asked me to run the team and make plays when they needed me. We had a couple scorers on the team, so it was my job to get them the ball when they were open and create opportunities for them.â€
Bulls.com: What are some of your top priorities over the next week or so?
Rose: “Of course I’m going to keep working on my shot, but I’ll also work on my all-around game and pick-and-rolls.â€
Bulls.com: What are your thoughts on John Paxson and Vinny Del Negro now that you’ve spent some time with them?
Rose: “They’re very likeable people. Sometimes it takes me awhile to warm up to someone when I first meet them, but with them, you can tell they’re caring, very intelligent, and they know the game. They both played in the NBA, so they know what it takes. Defense is important to both of them, and from what I can tell, they’ve got some good offensive things that will be in place, too. They’ll be prepared for the season.â€
Bulls.com: How do you feel about being compared to the likes of Jason Kidd, Chris Paul and Deron Williams?
Rose: “I hope I can be as good as any of those guys, but I’m Derrick Rose. I’m nowhere near where those guys are right now, but I’m going to work as hard as I can to live up to those comparisons. Those guys have done so much for their teams and I hope I can do that too for mine.â€
Bulls.com: Have you thought about how you might fit in with the current Bulls roster?
Rose: “Some of the guys like Ben Gordon and Joakim Noah were in the gym watching my workout and I loved that. I hope I worked hard enough so they think I can play with them and that I deserve to be in this position. It’s not my first time around the block, so I think I’ll be ready. I’ve met a few of them before and there’s never been any attitude from them at all; they’re low-key guys.â€
Bulls.com: What was your reaction when you saw the Bulls beat the odds and won the NBA Draft Lottery?
Rose: “I still can’t believe it. I remember my brother, Allen, used to always tell me I’d play for the Bulls someday. I told him I hoped he was right, but now that I might have that chance, it’s amazing. I think back to all the times people have told me I was good enough to play for the Bulls, and now it could come true. I’d love to play here. I know the whole city would be behind me and it’s such a great sports city. The Bulls have a lot of talent and they’re young, too. I think if I’m lucky enough to come to this team, we’ll do some damage.â€
So who should we listen to???
A: Diddy, who has been behind classic hip hop and r&b albums
or
B:You, who hasn't even had a classic blog.
LMFAO@you AZZCLOWN!!!!
FOR THOSE WHO HAVE LISTENED TO "THA CARTER III" AND ACTUALLY LIKED IT...
Let me know a couple of the tracks that you thought were "good" or at least bearable to listen without making my ears hurt.
All I'll say is the sh*t that Weezy has put up as singles are straight garbage. Listening to the records... actually listening to his flow, his rhymes, his words... Weezy has "F-d Baby" the whole world. Lollipop is the less vile of the two. But "A Milli" is just a joke. I think somewhere in the second verse he sounds like he's just freestyling (and very badly), saying the first word that comes to his mind. "Inny-minny-miney moe, I'm in yo, neighborhood, stereo, Ipod, cassette deck, your girlfriend..."
LMAAAAO!!! And yes, I know the rhymes... shouldn't I know the rhymes if I'm going to criticize him on his content??? That sh*t was worse than "Computers computin, boogity bootin"
Raise your hand if you think Weezy can rhyme. No? Well, why is he called the BEST RAPPER alive then? Silly stans... gimmicks are for kids.
@ REACT:
I don't think you are going to hook any fish today.....lol. Big Homie, while you were away we did G-Unit and Buck 3 days in a row....lol. Every one has it out of their system. The subject is now approaching Nas' Nigger status on here....LMAO.
Who knows though - you may rope someone in.
I have to run to Mr. Charlie's meeting.
Peace!

Peace Bigup2BK, I see U homes.
I agree carter 3 is the worse out of the series but still is good at best but not a classic
and @ React
I few good songs on the carter 3 are
1) Let the beat build (Produced by Mr West)
2)Shoot me down
(nice soulful beat)
3)Get $
(wit Fab and Juelz they wreck him on his own sh1t buts its a tite song)
also I fux wit the song with him and Robin Thicke about Katrina and him and Betty Williams "Lite this Stage on Fire"
Like BigUp sd this cd is more musically inspired, but his flow has def taken a step back and I argee he sometimes sounds like a junkie on a rant wit his "freestyle" flow
all and all its a good Cd
carter 1 and 2 are damn near classics 2 me tho (wit my own form of taste not overall hip hop)
I AGREE. IF YOU ARE UNDER 20, YOU CAN'T EVEN COMMENT ON THIS POST. FIRST OF ALL, OUT OF ALL OF THE CARTER ALBUMNS, I WOULD HAVE TO AGREE THAT C2 WAS THE BEST. EVEN THOUGH I PREFER TO BUMP THE HELL OUT OF THE CARTER 1. DON'T GET ME WRONG, C3 IS A WELL PUT TOGETHER ALBUMN AND WILL BE ONE OF THE BETTER ALBUMNS OF THIS DECADE, BUT TO PUT THIS ALBUMN IN THE RANKS OF LIFE AFTER DEATH, ALL EYEZ ON ME, THE CHRONIC, ILLMATIC, MAKAVELI, READY TO DIE, BLUEPRINT, DOGGYSTYLE. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE F*CKIN KIDDING. THE ONLY REASON WHY DIDDY IS PUTTING THIS ALBUMN IN SUCH HIGH REGARDS IS BECAUSE, OUT OF ALL OF THE NEW RAPPERS, EVEN THOUGH WAYNE HAS BEEN IN THE GAME FOR OVER 10 YEARS, IS CAUSE MOST ALBUMNS HAVE BEEN SO DAMN WACK THIS DECADE. I WILL SAY THIS, C3 WAS EXCELENTLY PRODUCED AND CRAFTED. BUT HONESTLY, THE REASON WHY THIS ALBUMN WILL NOT OBTAIN CLASSIC STATUS, IS CAUSE, WAYNE LACKS EDUCATING IN HIS SONGS. HALF OF THE CARTER 3 SOUNDS LIKE A FREESTYLE. HALF OF THE TIME HE IS JUST RAMBLING ON AND ON ABOUT HOW HE GOT $ AND WHY HE THINK HE IS THE GREATEST. AND I HAVE BEEN A LIL WAYNE FAN, EVERY SINCE "THE BLOCK IS HOT", BUT I GOTTA KEEP IT 100. DIDDY, U NEED TO PUT DOWN THE CIROC VODKA, GO BACK TO SIGNING "REAL, TRUE, PASSIONATE" MC'S AND PUT THE RING ON KIM'S FINGER, NOT CASSIE. IDIOT
@ BIGUP2BK
What's good! HAHAHA... Nah, it ain't like I'm fishing EVERYtime... This is was just a reaction to what I heard this morning on the radio driving to work. When I reached, the blog is where and how I dump things outta my system.
But people may be thinking I'm fishing or setting traps even when I'm not... LOL. I come in early and then again at lunch time, so I don't catch all of the in-between and sometimes don't feel like scrolling through the whole days worth of posting. When I've done that lately, I've caught a few snippets of real talk, so I'm glad the convo is on and poppin.
About Young Buck vs. 50, yeah, I'll be glad if you say it is done. If so, that was one of the shortest lived drama moments in the history of Hip Hop beef.
Wayne's album is the topic of the week and I just have to be real, mayne... (chuckling...) this has to be a joke, right? I even heard Nas concede to giving Weezy props when the interviewer asked about Weezy's lyricism - and the interviewer was like "Bullsh*t! You just trying to sound politically-correct." Everyone is on that bandwagon now, especially since landing a Weezy collabo might boost your sales. So, it's really pathetic.
Have you heard the album yourself, by the way? What do you think of the lyricism and content; the production, etc.
@ HAHA
Thanks for the insight. I will Youtube them and take a listen. You said it right: "but his flow has def taken a step back and I argee he sometimes sounds like a junkie on a rant wit his "freestyle" flow..."
Well, looks like incoherent, junkie rant flow is in for 2008. The only thing left is to see first idiot that will try to copy Weezy's flow.
Don't let anybody say that Busta is copying his flow when he goes all wild and sh*t. That is the original "Dungeon Dragon" and although he gets no love/buzz Busta is 10x a better RAPPER than Weezy.
(No cheese; no bait on a hook!)
@Dre Guevara
Puffy is cosigning Wayne because he is a dick riding faggot. He LOVES the attention. He is hoping he could jump on the bandwagon to make them ends.

Carter III is far from a classic, but give credit where credit is due. Have you heard:
'Comfortable' - for the chicks, but niggas can relate. Bitches better not get comfortable around me
'Dr. Carter' - best concept songs in years. if you don't agree, u should stop listening to rap and switch to techno
'Tie My Hands' - nothin but real talk
'Shoot Me Down' - perfect example of how Wayne has crossed over from just being a rapper's rapper to being a great artist.
'La La' - For the trunk. Wayne, Brisco, and Busta eat it up, but yall subway riding niggas prolly won't like it.
'You Ain't Got Nuthin' - Hot song, even though Juelz and Fab kill Wayne on his own song.
And on all the other songs that aren't the hottest, he still delivers better than most lyrically. I don't know what niggas was expecting out of the Carter III, but it's a solid album.
Up early in the morning!

I don't have any comment on Weezy because I haven't heard it. It sold a mil but f - sales. I can't get with his voice for a whole album. I like some of his collabos. I did hear that one with Jay with is hot. But, Illmatic status, Blueprint, All Eyes On Me, Ready to Die, Reasonable Doubt, It's Dark and Hell is hot, By any means necessary, Paid in Full, King of Rock, Life after Death, Amerikkka's most Wanted, Straight out of Compton, King of Kings, Strictly Business, The Chronic, The Marshall Mathers LP, GRODT, The Documentary, The Black Album, Stillmatic, Be, High School Dropout, Reflection Eternal, Enter the 36 Chambers, Only Built for Cuban Linx, Tical, Stankonia, Aquemini, Geto Boys, Follow the Leader...........where does the Carter III fit on that list?

i pass the age requirment (HAHA) 4 this blog barely by being 22
and i remeber how HARD (no homo) busta was goin at the end of the 90's he was on some crazy ass sh1t but thats HIM his style he created no swagga jackin
and the way c3 sounds 2 me makes me think wayne either wrote c1 and c2 or recited the hell outta each track cuz c3 sounds like he really jus went in the studio high as hell and leaning and jus TRIED 2 rip a track

Puffy is cosigning Wayne because he is a dick riding faggot. He LOVES the attention. He is hoping he could jump on the bandwagon to make them ends.

ain't that the truth
U already know the sun don't shine if son don't shine.
LOL. NOW THAT'S WASSUP... SOME GOOD OLE FASHION "CRITIQUING"
Thanks to HAHA, B. DRAKE, and TEE DRAPER for your opinions - and we've all got one. I will seriously take a listen (where's them free downloads at). My skepticism of Wayne as an artist and a rapper are well-founded; no "hating" going on here. He has to put out something next to fantastic to begin making up for all the points he's got against him.
ONE GOOD QUESTION FOR Y'ALL "CARTER 3" SUPPORTERS:
Since you're so willing to call what should be considered mediocre as "good", "tight" or "banger"... using that grading curve what would you call some of the records by others that have come out lately - which many called "garbage":
Recent joints by Jay-Z, Nas, Styles, Wu-Tang, etc. (just off the dome, there's many more)
The reason why I ask is for you to check yourself that you're not being washed away by the buzz and craze. We're all entitled to our opinions, but make sure your judgment and tastes are not being altered.
Do you feel me on that?
man someone needs to go to the hip hopdx blog and the miss info blog where you have people giving soulja boy props. wtf???? haa. on that ice t beef.. i thinking soulja boy is paying people to talk good about him online haa. where my real hip hop heads at????
@ BIGUP2BK
AS FOR THE LAST PIECE OF GOVERNMENT CHEESE I ACTUALLY PUT OUT: "DA SOUF"
The blog is devoid of wit and sarcasm, making it easier for some people to expose the fact that they have pre-programed views. Among the ones on the "hit list":
1) To "rep your hood" and stand up for your city/borough/region as a sign of hood loyalty. Absolutely ludicrous. All I have to say is "Da Souf" and IT'S ON!!!
2) (As a result of point #1) To defend anything and everything associated with your region, even if it is negative. That's why idiots will defend the criminality and dire living conditions of certain places; finding some nobility in it
3) The defense and furtherance of negative images and stereotypes of Black people. I mean, NO SH*T there are slums everywhere in the country!!! But rather than take the position that agrees there are "backwards" Black communities and progressive solutions should be sought, what did many "rats" say?
"Ayo, f#ck a 9-to-5! F#ck that education bullsh*t! Youze a Tom, nigga! Texas stand up!"
HAHAHAHAHAAAA... There you go, brother! Mousetrap achieved! You put out cheese to catch the buffoons, not to kill them, but to expose their buffoonery and kick some knowledge. Yeah, it's just a Hip Hop blog but it does tell you a lot about the pre-programed niggerism in our community.
And by "niggerism" I mean the systematic deception to make Black people think and act like "Niggers." Look at it!!! There are people who favor criminality as opposed to stable and honest ways of earning; they favor stupidity and ignorance as opposed to intelligence and responsibility. They favor the poverty cycle as opposed to progressiveness. Anyone who does the latter is considered a Tom.
My response to everyone is if you're not the stereotypical fool I depicted in my toying posts, then you shouldn't be offended. I just love the guy that comes on here and says sh*t like "New York niggaz is soft; NYC is the safest city in America." Now THATS a mousetrap - and watch all the buffoons that retaliate and boast of how violent and ignorant "we" really are. LMAO.
Dudes such as yourself that frequent this blog already know what I'm about and what my perspective is. LOL.

LMAO!!! YOU PREACHIN TO THE CHOIR ON THAT ONE!!!
I am the first, second, and last to say that the 2 joints by G-Unit is garbage!!! Straight horse sh*t!!!
Ayo, why I gotta be the G-Unit representative, mayne??? I hate being misconstrued! Let's set the record that I am no stan of any artist or group. I consider myself a fair and unbiased critic (even on the Wayne sh*t, I'm capable of taking a listen. It's just that the material he has released has been mediocre.)
I treat G-Unit the same as any other artist/group. When they've put out bangers, I've called them "bangers." The same goes for the garbage. What I wrote recently is that it's f#cked up because they have shown that they have the potential (especially in their mixtapes) but lay up duds in their major releases.
@ HAHA
But check it, let's take Jay-Z and "American Gangster" or Nas' "HHID."
All stanning aside, people on this blog sh*tted on them two albums. They sh*tted on their rhyming, sh*tted on the production, and sh*tted on the concepts. BUT NOW WE TALKIN THAT "CARTER 3" IS A CLASSIC? That it's full of "bangers" and "tight" records??? And fools even saying Wayne got "socially conscious"???????
Yo, please explain THAT one to me. I wanna know what the grading scale is that people are using. And throw in Styles and the rest who have put out records lately - from any region. Compared to the playing field, Wayne is "nice" on the mike???
Can you see my perspective, fam?
LMAO i find it funny how ppl are mad that someone actually thinks its a classic. There is NO REAL WAY TO DEFINE A CLASSIC!!!! ITS ALL PERSONAL OPINION!!!!! so if you dont think it is then fine, but it doesnt make youre word truth over someone else's. Personally its not a classic for me but its not a bad album either.

it's called proaganda.
as a veteran & pioneer of Hip Hop, Ice T is entitled 2 voice his opinion on the state of Hip Hop, these fools dissin' him in favor of Soulja Coon don't know any better, plus all they can talk about is how old Ice T is, okay he's 50 years old BIG F'N DEAL!!!!
That's why the rap game is in the damn shape it's in, because of bullsh!t like this!

You sound like a hurt b i t c h, like somebody fuhQed your girl and you got burnt, LOL
Why is it so hard to wrap your mind around a basic concept.
JUST BECAUSE PEOPLE LIKE LIL WAYNE AND GO OUT AND SUPPORT HIS MUSIC, DOESN'T MEAN HE'S THE BEST RAPPER ALIVE. JUST BECAUSE HE SAYS IT, DOESN'T MEAN HE'S THE BEST RAPPER ALIVE. JUST BECAUSE HE HAS THE #1 CD AND THIS IS HIS 8TH PLAQUE (EITHER GOLD OR PLAT) DOESN'T MEAN HE'S THE BEST.
It also doesn't mean that Nas and Jay-Z or Lupe sucks...IT JUST MEANS MORE PEOPLE WENT OUT AND BOUGHT HIS ALBUM!!
Diddy saying C3 is classic is OBVIOUSLY an attempt to put his "stamp" on a project that's doing well...who says Diddy is the hip hop spokesperson?
Get over IT and get over YOURSELF...YOU may not like Wayne's flow, his persona whateva...but 1,007,000 people are...so when it all boils down to it...who the fuQ are you? LOL
An old a$$ ni99a on a blog b*tching and moaning about why he's platinum...why people feel his music...they didn't go out and by my boo 50's CD like that...wah, wah, wah....
You sound like a newborn baby...somebody PLEASE shove a t i t y in the ni99a's mouth!!

I see it. I think that the problem is that the scale is too high for some mc's. We all expect Nas and Jay to be on the Mike Jackson, Kells and Usher scale as far as music and production. They have ascended to that plateau with banger after banger. I thought Kingdom Come was a hot album. HHID is still my joint. Then someone like Wayne drops something that sounds hot and his bar is so low that people overreact. All of a sudden it's a classic when it's really just a solid joint front to back in the mode of Ice Cube or Busta's last joint. Jay and Nas are expected to make classics because they have before. Wayne did what he normally does except his production, according to some of the people posting here, has risen up a notch.

What's good Keesh!
I didn't forget about them. I just thought about the many albums that I felt were above and beyond most of what I've heard in my hip hop life.
@ React:
I hear you, sun. You know with me I just love being a student and I love the pursuit of truth. This is why I like being a social scientist. I love the process that one must undergo to seek and gain knowledge and truth. I love the laws of truth. I love the way those who love truth and knowledge govern truth and knowledge. To me this what makes a cat real. Over the last 3 days G-Unot Killa had been dropping jewels. So given that I could take all the times he dissed me over the last several months and say “f*ck what he have to say†or I can recognize the truth of what he said and submit to it. For me, to do the latter makes me feel real and whole. This is why I will criticize those who I support when I find them in error. This is why I have difficulty in co-signing people with a bias. I mean if you have a bias state it. I clearly have a bias against 50 cent and I state that before I rip him to shreds as I am about to do in a minute. This way the reader can take in account what I say but also place a .10 alpha level on what I say because I do have a bias against him.
What cats will do at times is not acknowledge their clear bias and subsequently rip some one to shreds and present it as if it is coming from an objective point of view. Anyway that is how I get down on here and every where that I go.
Now as for 50 and Buck: I am loving the fact that Buck took the beef to wax. This diss joint he dropped the other day was fire. I did not hear this one with Game but I am looking forward to hearing it. However because I am bias I am loving this free fall of destruction 50 is currently experiencing
He has had a real bad stretch of time over the last 12 months or so. I mean he has dropped half of his roster of artists or shut them down or they got shut down (Young Buck, Spida Loc, Mobb Deep; Hot Rod, Banks, etc). His clothing business is now defunct. He was embarrassed by Kanye in the sells battle where Curtis sold in total over the last 10 months what Lil Wayne sold in one week. Kanye himself over the same 10 months is approaching 3 million in sells and sold he outsold 50, 3 times over. He also is a nasty fight with the son of his mother which resulted in house be burnt to a crsip. He is now suing her for defamation of charter which is hilarious considering the fact that she is broke. He is also being investigated to see if he is an arsonist….lol. He is picking fights with chicks because they said the CD Curtis was garbage….LMAOOO….which btw it was garbage. Then he does the a b*tch move and put on the internet a private phone call of Buck crying to him over being broke……LMAOOOOOO…..I am tears here…..and then after real cats said that is some H O M O SH*T TO DO 50 GOES ON Angie’s show try to explain himself...lol.
Musically every thing he has dropped of TOS sucks donkey ball and that Album is going to suck tremendously. He is now treated like a regular artist at innerscope and as G-Unot Killa point out yesterday he may be heading the same financial road of MC hammer.
This dude is coming unglued right in front of our eyes and I am loving it. I hope Buck diss him every week and turn the heat up on him some more. You know one thing I noticed about 50 is that he has a week chin. Yeah he is smart that chin is weak. You hit him back and he knees buckle quick. Look how he never mentions Jadakiss or game anymore. Just their superior disses on wax made him leave them alone. Look at how he responded to Rosci when she hit him. Look at how he responded to buck. Look at how he is responding to his son’s mother. He is mentally weak. All you have do is hit in the chin and @ss will buckle. Anyway I enjoying watching him drown.
Now as for your question about Wayne: As I said above the music alone is excellent. The diversity of subjects is good too. He also has some socially conscious stuff on there. So production and content is good. Lyrics are slightly above average. The joint is decent. It made it to my rotation in my ride and that is difficult to do but he is in there.
@ KSH:
Hey Precious. When is the best time to call you. I tried to hit you up twice this week but got your voice mail each time.
For those of ya'll that dont know, Wayne has just been added to Cassie's upcoming single "Official Girl". This dude basically just secured a hit song for that broad, and thats why Diddy is so on his nuts! Wayne is gonna help Puff's new mealticket's career live on!

I seriously think Fiddy will be irrelevant in 3-5 as far as rapping
his best bet would be to remain behind the scenes and develop talent
i think he is too cocky to let someone else shine tho
remember how much buzz gunit had when 50 was first gettin hot and they didnt even have buck or game
now all that buzz is gone
due to 50's bully attitude
people arent gonna respect someone who is a constant asshole
he tried 2 beef 2 much
and most people look at it as gimmick or he is jus plain BAMA
but he needs 2 make some (alot) of changes to get his buzz back which i think will neva happen he burned 2 many bridges
he should jus drop some sh1t wit em and dre to get his rep back up
that way maybe people will anitcipate a "G-Unit" cd if he brings collabs wit other artist
no t-paynes and justin timberlakes either
so real hip hop artist
@ GUNOT Killa:
Yeah worldwide I THINK 50 outsold him but to be honest I really am not sure but I will take your word for it but in the states where it really counts he got crushed.
what up people
as regards to the person who says what defines a classic he has a point what does defines a classic everybody has a different opinion on what a classic album is i for one thought 2pacalypse now is a classic but some people say all eyez on me was the classic i honestly perfer bigs life after death over ready to die but those are my opinions. my conclusion is this wayne is not doing nothing new that somebody hasn't done already if u think its a classic cool if not cool me personally i don't think its a classic but its a decent album but it won't stay in heavy rotation with me like n.w.a and 2pacalypse now cause i like those albums.
Sales
Curtis sold approximately 691,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release, which was the fourth highest sales week for an album in 2007[14] (originally topping Linkin Park's Minutes to Midnight which sold 625,000, but later being outsold by the Eagle's Long Road Out of Eden, which moved 711,000 units[22] and later Alicia Keys' As I Am bringing in 742,000 copies[23]). However, Curtis brought in the lowest first week sales of 50 Cent's career, with Get Rich or Die Tryin' selling 872,000[24] and The Massacre moving 1.1 million copies.[25] As of December 27, 2007, Curtis has sold 1.2 million copies in the United States.[26]
Curtis debuted at number two on the United World Chart, selling approximately 921,000 copies worldwide in its first week.[27] As of November 17, 2007, Curtis has sold approximately 1,728,000 copies worldwide.[28] However, Vivendi contradicted the United World Chart's claim, stating that Curtis sold nearly two million copies worldwide in less than a week after its release.[29]
-
Graduation sold approximately 957,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release, becoming the highest sales week for an album in 2007 (topping Linkin Park's Minutes to Midnight, which sold 626,000) as well as West's highest sales week to date, topping his 860,000 opening week of his previous album Late Registration. In addition, it became the 15th highest sales week for an album since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking data in 1991, and the highest sales week for an album since 50 Cent's The Massacre opened with 1.1 million in March 2005.[4]
Graduation debuted at number one on the United World Chart, selling approximately 1,153,000 copies worldwide and now is at 2,500,000 as of March.[5] As of January 15, 2008 , Graduation was certified 2× Platinum by RIAA.[6]
Tha Carter 3 aint no fuckin classic but its a solid albums. The thing i like about is the beats dont even sound like Cash money beats. Anyway in order 4 an album to be considered a classic u have to be able to bump it years later, just like how i bump Dre's 2001, Its dark and hell is hot, college dropout, it was written, only built 4 cuban linx, midnight marauders and reasonable doubt. every track has to be flawless!
Ya'll are reading way too much into this. Diddy is just playing the game, trying to get some Wayne features for his artists. That's it.
If there's one thing Diddy isn't (that we all can agree on), that's stupid.
Homey knows how to make money, he knows what sells, and right now that is Wayne. Tomorrow he'll be on someone else's nuts, because he's ALWAYS been that way.
Why so surprised?
I aint surprised at Diddy's comments. Hiphop been sold out! Money gets you way more respect than quality...its been that way for a minuite now. Diddy is just one of many who will soon be hopping on the 'Weezy is the greatest' bandwagon. However, The Carter III is NOT a bad album. It's actually one the best overall cd's in recent years.
2 me a classic is a cd u can put on 5 yrs or 10 yrs later and still bump ya head and respect the lyrics

DIDDY IS ATTENTION WHORE. SINCE HE GETS NO MORE LOVE FROM TV AND RADIO HE GOES ON WEBCAM AND TALKS STUPID TO GET ATTENTION.
DDDANNNGGGG....my girl KSH said "throw some Too Short" in that mix.

I heard that....there ain't too many of Short Dog's CDs that wouldn't play from front to back.
-
It's been a long time....but that "Shorty the Pimp" and "Get in Where You Fit In" is the JOINTS! CLASSICS!
First off, congrats to Lil Wayne, dude went in these last few years and seems to really be concerned with Hip Hop first as opposed to most heads out here concerned with "swag" or street cred. That being said, I think he's the beneficiary of 1) Force feeding the masses (the amount of songs/cameos he's been on is almost stupid) and 2) an era in Hip Hop with tremendously low standards. More and more Hip Hop fans, particularly 90's babies, are seemingly rejecting or just not relating to the Kings of the 90's (Jay-Z, Nas, Wu-Tang etc) no matter how good an album they release and they really don't know much about that era or the ones before so their standards are a lot lower than ours (I'm 24). Growing off Illmatic, Low End Theory, "The Purple Tape", 36 Chambers, even joints like The Sun Rises in the East or Word...Life it and being a fan of PE, Rakim and BDP it's hard for anybody whose familiar with those periods in Hip Hop to be in awe of Lil Wayne. I honestly don't think he would've held up in say '95
when cats was spittin nasty enough to not have to release 100 songs in a year. I'm not hating, hell I went out and bought C2 based on what people were saying and it was straight, nothing really mind blowing to me, and in my opinion mentioning him amongst those other albums is laughable at best. Puffy's last credible MC was Shyne and just because he signed Biggie doesn't validate his opinion anymore than mine, anybody with ears could hear Big's potential. Another thing that confuses me is how he's leapfrogged lyricists in the South. On no level is he fuckin with Luda, 3000 or even Killer Mike or Phonte from Little Brother. He's being called Best Rapper Alive when everybody who should be considered aren't.
http://www.missinfo.tv/index.php/2008/06/20/50-cent-addresses-the-young-buck-beef-and-the-game-chimes-in-too/
The Low End Theory, Flesh of my Flesh, Blood of my Blood, Run DMC, Raising Hell, Im Bad, People's Instinctive Travels, Me Against the World, To the East Blackwards, Born to Mack, Quik is the Name, Whut the Album, Black Star, Like Water for Chocolate, Graduation, Long live Kane, Marley Marl in Control, Criminal Minded..........The Carter III. It just doesn't fit.
Those are classics, this isn't there yet.
Feel free to post more. I'm looking through my playlist on Windows Media.

Out of all the CD's he mentioned I only have The Chronic in my collection. He also failed to mention Doggystyle, but hey, that's just me. I'm an old school Cali gangsta rap fan. Anyway, I got the Wayne joint and their are 3 or 4 songs that made my head bob, but that's it. I'm really happy for Wayne, but the album is not a classic by any means. Not even close.
carter 3 is not on the same level as any album in hip hop that u cud possibly consider a classic , not even in the same zone as any of em crazyyyyyyyyy
yo who ever posted this blog is a ignorant m*therfucker by saying "those under 20 don't respond because u know nothing on the classic albums" im barely 16 and i have heard "illmatic" "the Chronic" "all Eyez on Me" and "life after Death" and i also have heard "paid in full" and the great Andventours of slick rick.....so plz age has nothing to do with this ....and as 4 the carter 3 it's would be a nice album but the songs dont flow or have any order and to b considered a classic album every song has to b really hot and on the carter 3 there are bout 4 songs that are wack ...so the carter can not b considered classic

Have u ever noticed how much g-unot killa contradicts himself. First of all a g-unot killa is a killa of all members of g-unot. Which last time I checked is The Game and black wall street. So why the hell is he promoting a gunit diss track by the game himself. And another thing, it seems to me the why he posts he doesn't give too shits about g-unit or 50 cent. He only cares about spider loc. So why are u bangin g-unot killa shouldn't u change your name to something more pro sider loc. Jackass
Why would 50 Cent be upest at lil wayne's numbers? He has been there and done that. The only niggas that dislike 50 are broke niggas, which means you hate real niggas with money.
Diddy, is a shrewd businessman.
He is blowing smoke up weasels's @ss to try and get him affiliated with Bad Boy in some way shape or form.
He also likes the way weasel kisses other men, and wants a smooch himself.
come on diddy, not even close

Diddy's trying to get with Weezy, some of that jail house lovin
But the CD's tight, nothing to go crazy about, but a good listen, i'm not mad at Weezy, he did a good job...

@Nimrod
I had jury duty these past couple of days so i had a chance to get in to Brzezinski's book as i sat there all day waiting to get called(i didnt get picked).
That man is brilliant, but i cant understand why he's revealing these things in books.
I've been watching whats going on with the presidential race too,and its pretty much a wrap,Obama is our next president,im 90% sure.
Obama's gonna raise too much money, the media loves him,the economy's is bad under our current lame duck republican president, and John Mcain is gonna be playin himself during the whole entire race, because he's not gonna have enough money and people already know what he's about.
People dont know about Barack's record that much, and what their going to find out during the election is that Barack's small voting record is tailor made to undermind Mcain's positions in debates...
A prime example is that Barack was one of the very few to vote against the war in iraq(a critical issue in the democratic debates).
Hillary had no legs to stand on with this issue because she voted for the war.
I believe these people have been plotting Barack's lame duck presidency for a minute now.
I must say that it is going to be interesting to watch "Barack's" moves knowing what i know now.Im going to get all of Brzezinki's books now, especially the one he wrote in 2007.
The more and more i read about the reasons why they want a one world government the more i agree with them.
The more i read about why they have to make the moves they make to accomplish their goals,it kinda makes sense to me.i just think its f*cked up that innocent and sane people have die to achieve the ultimate goal of saving humanity from itself.
@Atheist
Your eyes are definitely open. Barack's been handpicked and groomed for this along with several other people in case one should falter I suspect.
The truth is a heavy burden so these dudes on here stay in their comfort zones. They've drank the "kool aid" and like the taste. LOL!
Brzezinski is brilliant and if man was perfect I'd say the end would justify the means but absolute power corrupts absolutely so after his goal is achieved, if it's achieved there will be those who will become as gods in this world. That's a lot of responsibility to place in the hands of the few.
I also suspect he put the books out to win over people like you or I or anyone capable of seeing the benefits of what he proposes, and the benefits are fantastic. It sounds like heaven on Earth OR Pie in the Sky.
Ultimately, people who don't get it or who are consumed with frivolous bullsh!t will be doomed by virtue of their own ignorance anyway. Those who get it will either support it or violently oppose it. Maybe the dissemination of info is the beginning of the weeding out process. I don't know.
I am for population control and even depopulation but I believe in checks and balances. No ONE entity should be in control. There should always be rivals to maintain a balance. I believe that's why the Rosenberg's leaked the A Bomb secrets to the Russians. There are always people, great thinkers, people not blinded by race or any of the other instruments used to keep people divided, who see the big picture.
I believe that man is "spiritually" underdeveloped making it easy for wickedness to prevail Atheist so I don't even trust myself with absolute power. The temptation to do wrong would be too great knowing there are no consequences.
I believe that's why religion was created. That's why I don't care for religious debate. Some people get it and some don't. Some don't need to. Ya dig?
As far as the innocents and sane, you have to understand that the true duty of LEADERS is to relieve the followers of responsibilty of decisions they lack the constitution and courage to make. Being a leader is not about fiery rhetoric and protest. LEADERS are the ones who make it possible for the "sheep" to sleep easy at night knowing all will be well even if they cannot fathom how.
Anyway, I'm glad I was able to expose you to something you deem worthwhile. I'll mostly be on here on the wknds if you wanna holla. I'll let hip hoppers do their thing during the week.
Peace.

I respect the 90's Puff Daddy but when he became Diddy, he just changed for the worse. I like only like what 1 song from him as Diddy. I like his songs when he was Puff Daddy like Cant Nobody Hold Me Down. Now he says that the game has changed.

IF YOU LISTEN TO REAL HIP-HOP/RAP THEN YOU WOULD UNDERSTAND ME.
Personally I dont care what Diddy says. Lil Wayne is definitely hot right now and congrats on him going paltinum so soon. I havent heard carter 3 and I dont intend to buy it. I highly doubt that this album is on the level of some of the classics. For pure lyricism thats gimmick free, log on to www.myspace.com/layerissolidarity!
I downloaded the Carter III but im actually going to go out and buy it ... its pretty damn good ...
I think what Diddy may be referring to is that the Carter III has a perfect, and i mean perfect album structure ... and that makes it 'classic' in that sense.
Carter III is no Illmatic, its impossible for any album to be 'Illmatic' except 'Illmatic' itself, so trying to compare semantics Reckless is SOHH reckless, at the very least you dig ...
By far, Carter III has to be the best Hip Hop album released this year by far ... yes ... i agree its a classic album ...
^^^^ cont'd
and yes Reckless, thats in light of easy 4 star cd's from Sheek Louch and a fairly decent (i know i'll be shat on for this anyway) Fat Joe album ...
I got some info for Reckless he might like..On MTV Jams, they got this horrible mini show called "Hood Fab" where they pit regular dudes and rappers in a "rap jeopardy" of sorts. So anyway, this particular segment had DJ Khalid against Flo-Rida, and the final question they asked Khalid was "Which DJ/producer started the Juice Crew?" mind you this is DJ Khalid that they are asking, and the so called "we the best", "we the greatest", "we global" couldnt even answer the question!!! I aint even gonna post what he said cuz it aint fckin worth it. How the Fck you gonna call yourself a DJ and you dont know about DJ Marley Marl????
everyone has put their 2 cents into "real" hip hop, wack artists, hip hop is dead, etc so i guess its my turn. hip hop/rap as we know it today will NEVER be what it was in the 90's. The 90's was made up of 70s babies with 70s problems. we were still fresh off the civil rights movement, vietnam, etc.
There was so much going on in the world, and america that this still young thing called hip hop could thrive on. Injustice, poverty, police brutality, racism. I know, the same things are going on today but the difference is our society. You see back then it was still us vs. them and that provided the fire and motivation you hear on a lot of records from that time. You had your Pacs, your Big Daddy Kanes, your NWAs. You also had your Kid and Plays, De La Souls, Busta Rhymes (wait, he's still here,...lol) and countless others. But one thing was certain. They each had their own lanes and weren't ashamed to represent them. There was no doing what the next person did just to get accepted. It was "keeping it real" in the truest sense. Enter the year 2000,.....
Hip hop/Rap was heading into its 3rd decade after many said it wouldnt last half that long. The biggest influence in the world was your favorite rapper. Kids (and adults) all over the world wanted to "be" their favorite rapper. People in power (white music execs aided by black a&r's i.e. puffy, andre harrell) began to really take notice of this and thats where hip hop/rap began its downfall. It was no longer about artists doing music they felt and wanted to do. It was about what sells. It all became glamorization. If you dont believe me, ask your child what they'd rather be, a rapper or a doctor. High school dropouts, drug dealers, and worse were repackaged as rappers and exploited to make it look like its ok to be one of the above mentioned because if you can make all the dumb sh*t you did rhyme you could be a millionaire and famous like the people you see on tv. I'm not knocking anyones past because i am FAR from perfect but whereas pac and nwa said f*ck the police until they give us peace, now its just f*ck the police with no explanation. the message is gone. drug raps existed in the 90's too but there was something to counter it as well. theres no balance now. you cant be mad at lil wayne or any of these new generation rappers. Its not their faults. I personally like his music because if nothing else, it's different than most rapper's songs i hear. we say lyricism is dead but whose fault is it? the same artists we pine and root for are the same ones we dont support. when was the last time you heard dead prez or common going a gazillion plat like 50 r jeezy etc? if thats what we want, we should support it. why cant we like jay z AND wayne? jeezy AND nas? why is it either or? i dont wanna hear nas all day. same with wayne. I wanna hear what i wanna hear when I'm in the mood for it. Different music puts you in different moods. Problems is most rappers out today are biting so much from what made the next man hot that it leaves an overall bad taste in your mouth for all of it. I could go on forever but i'll close by saying this. Lets not be hypocrites. Everything must have a balance. We wouldnt appreciate good music if we never knew what bad music was. Times have changed. New generations have been born.we should all accept and embrace that. Rap cannot stay like or go back to what it was. It needs to and has to evolve or it will end up like blues and jazz (still fans but nowhere near the amount when they 1st started). No excuse for making trash music but the only constant is change and we should realize that and make the best out of it we possibly can.
why did i mention civil rights and vietnam etc? because we were direct products of that and it reflected in our raps and our mentality. We weren't afraid to voice it and the audience wasn't so attention deficit that they couldnt listen long enough to voice it with us. We were involved in so many movements. Say no to drugs, LAPD brutality, Fight the power, Self destruction, Stop the violence, Eazy E died and the AIDS awareness was born. Movements. The only movements Ive seen lately are Stop snitching, Do not snitch, and You better not snitch. We have become so numb and desensitized as a community and society (thanks to internet, 24 hr news, etc which by the way are all things i love just nature of the beast) that nothing really moves us anymore. Nothing surprises or shocks us. Therefore, less outrage, less organization, less movement. And when someone is foolish enough to speak up/out we ridicule or criticize them for "worrying about somebody else's business". As a nation we've become completely self-absorbed. Who cares you say? Apparently you do when the number one complaint about rap is "all they talk about is their cars, money, and women."
If our music is dead, its our fault, not the artists because we showed them through record sells what we wanted. Its not their fault we chose to overdose on bullsh*t.
And oh,......go cop that Carter III, Gym Class Heroes, Lupe, Little Brother, Bun B, Scarface, Kanye, 50 and whoever you like. Load 'em in your cd changer or Ipod and put it on random/shuffle. You hear that? I do. It's called variety. And its music to my ears,...............
wayne is not capable of making a classic like nas big jay or pac he just isn't good enough. besides i have never heard a great record from himand don't say a mill because if you do i will slap all the way from minneapolis and by the the way we got white cats out here that would slay lil wayne
@anonymous... you said rappers from the 90s are 70s babys..well a lot of rappers and 1990 hip hop fans arent all 70s babys a lot of them where from the 80s. a lot where born in the 80s or late 78 or 79 and by the time they where 10 it was allready like 1985 so most of them dont even rember the 70s..and you said also people should listen too any type of music they want. I AGREE.. but the last 9 years the radio video channels and ect has been playing mostley only one type of hip hop and we all know what that type is.i think their should be all types of hip hop played cause we have all dif types of fans.but also come on lets cut to the chase 75% of people ant feeling that wack souljaboy crap.from young kids to older people and from black too white. go all over the u.s go to blogs. you tube youl se or hear how people feel.and yea i no "if you dont like whats on the radio listening too a cd" .. yea but people dont want hip hop too become all wack crunk songs a lot people who listen to hip hop dont want hip hop too even be played like that weather you listen to it or not. and from what i was talking about before with the 70s babies thing.also younger people are dressing like the 70s and 80s and just acting out a time that they where never apart of. so its the younger kids who are bring back 70s problems.like thos
