If you guys have been paying attention,there hasnt been that many major label hiphop cd releases from northeastern rappers this year.

As much as i personally would love to hear how a jadakiss or saigon cd would sound,it would appear that hip hop is dead commercially,or at the least SLOW/in a draught...

You know I'm not surprised. The funny thing is when you tell people the truth they say you're hating. They rather believe lies so they get fed a steady stream of 'em. LOL!

Jada can spit as much heat as he wants. It doesn't matter. The minute the onus shifted from talent to gimmicks the genre was on a slippery slope. It's far deeper than artists not selling. We're talking about jobs in urban radio, TV, magazines, endorsements, executive positions, black entertainment lawyers, etc., all at risk with the loss of interest in hip hop MUSIC.

They acted like N*GGERS and tore each other down for the amusement of the check writers and personal profit every chance they got. The fans are no better. They hate people they don't even know because they're from another part of the country. Like Nas said on Stillmatic. Time to destroy and rebuild!

Keep it on the down low

It was 40 years ago today that Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated by the CIA, and what better way to mark the anniversary of the death of the civil rights icon than to cast aspersions on another black man’s sexuality.

No but really, has anyone else been following the sh!t with this kid SOHH Gyant? I don’t follow the blogs over at SOHH too closely, just because I don’t think they’re very good. I know blogs are extensions of people, and thus it’s somewhat Hitler-esque to suggest that some blogs are better than other ones, but… well, that’s my opinion.

It just seems like, more often than not, they stick the names of some celebrities into the titles of their posts to hook you into reading them, and then when you do, it’s just a bunch of bullsh!t they probably read at Media Take Out or somewhere. And maybe a YouTube video.

Otherwise, they seem like nice enough people, and I don’t have anything against them. If I felt like the information was especially good, I’m sure I’d even head over there more often to “borrow” ideas for posts. Like Noz does over at okayhater.

I was over there the other day conducting some research for my post that ended up dying in its infancy, as if it was James Brown’s twin brother (or was that Elvis that had the twin brother?), and I came across this video that was supposed to be of Bun B going at some bloggers, as is his wont.

I figured it might be another one of these videos where he was going at me, like that Shocking Online Moments video where they went around and asked various artists what was the craziest thing anyone ever said about them over the Internets. I was mentioned several times in that one.

And I’m not gonna lie, I still think about Cassie’s appearance in that video some nights before I go to sleep. She couldn’t even bring herself to say what she’d read about herself online, but I think we all know what it was. What a delicate flower of a woman.

But as it turns out, this clip was of Bun going at this kid SOHH Gyant, whom I guess somehow managed to run afoul of the lcd rap legend.

If only he’d waited a few days later to make his remarks, or done some research on this kid beforehand, like I’m sure he does with his stock portfolio.

When I had my own initial run-in with Bun B, he was all ordering me to shovr things in my ass, as if I was some kind of fudge. Meanwhile, I think we can all agree that I’m one of the straightest guys there ever was. (Ladies, feel free to call my bluff.) This kid Gyant, meanwhile, might actually be on the DL.

Now, it’s at this point in the post that I’d like to note that I don’t know this kid Gyant from Adam, though I am friends with him on Facebook (nhjic), and that it could very well be the case that he’s not a DL pillow biter, and this is just some sh!t people made up because they were upset with him.

God forbid one of the girls in management should have to hit the kill switch on one of my posts for the second Friday in a row.

Intrigued (nullus), I checked out a couple of the guy’s posts. I’d say the content was roughly par for the course as far as SOHH is concerned, but it was the comments section that struck me. Comment after comment consisted of mofos telling this kid Gyant how he’d just gotten ethered.

It was like deja vu… except they were also suggesting that he was a fudge.

So I did some research, and it turns out he may or may not have been arrested for violating a restraining order that had been taken out against him by showing up to a house party thrown by some DL brothers. The guy who took out out the order was supposedly an ex-lover of his and called the cops when he arrived.

Supposedly, this had all been revealed in some police documents someone had dug up and posted to the comments section of his blog at SOHH, after people had become suspicious when he up and disappeared for a three days in a row last summer.

(What kind of nutjob just up and disappears from his blog for three days in a row?)

When he returned, he claimed that he had spent three days in jail behind some sort of mix up. He was at this party, and some guy attacked him, and he ended up getting arrested, and the police somehow forgot he was in jail for three days.

Hmm…

I haven’t actually seen the documents myself. I only read about them the other day over at Sandra Rose. She’s been running a series of expose articles on Gyant, I guess because the two of them have been beefing with one another.

I went over both of them myself with a fine-tooth comb, but I can’t actually claim to know what the origin of their beef is. Whatever it is, it escalated recently when Gyant published a post, which has since disappeared from the Internets (noticing a trend), in which her called Sandra Rose a lonely lesbian and fantasized about her receiving a beatdown. Which I believe is what prompted this series of expose articles.

But apparently, the two of them had once been friends and confidants, Golden Girls-steez. He used to provide bodyguard protection for her at events down in the ATL (where all of the trannies live), and she introduced him to some people or whatever.

Now that they’ve had this falling out, it seems clear to me that Sandra Rose has it as her goal to throw this guy under a bus. Take for example the second post in her series, in which she suggests that Gyant may have been involved in leaking a track by a prominent producer. Which could obviously carry with it a certain degree of legal liability.

That said, who knows whether or not any of this sh!t is true. What do you fruits think? Is this kid Gyant on the DL, or is Sandra Rose making this sh!t up? Also, would you find a hip-hop blogger that much less credible if you found out he was a closeted teh ghey person, or should his sexuality not matter one way or another?

You know Reckless. I find it great that you talk about different MCs, and not just the usual or the same rappers over and over again. As much as Jadakiss has been one of my favorite MCs. I really wish youhadn't said anything this time (not that you can't, it's your job). Because all you're going to get, is a bunch of negativity, from these so-called Hip Hop fans (who i think are fronting as all get out, because they ain't true). Right now, all they going to repeat is. He never blew up, he never sold no records. He broke, he ain't got no money. That's not what "Hip Hop" is about. Hip Hop is about teh art and the love of the music. None of these so-called new breed Hip Hop fans respect that anymore.They let the bilboard charts and soundscan dictate what's suppose to be hot to them. That's what's wrong with Hip Hop now. The music isn't important and doesn't exist anymore. It's about your "celebrity" now. If you're not part of the "popular" crowd, and they can't eb a fan of you yourself, then you don't matter to them. They only care about your status in the game. Right now, all they going to repeat is. He never blew up, he never sold no records. He broke, he ain't got no money. That's not what "Hip Hop" is about. Hip Hop is about teh art and the love of the music. None of these so-called new breed Hip Hop fans respect that anymore.They let the bilboard charts and soundscan dictate what's suppose to be hot to them. That's what's wrong with Hip Hop now. The music isn't important and doesn't exist anymore. It's about your "celebrity" now. If you're not part of the "popular" crowd, and they can't eb a fan of you yourself, then you don't matter to them. They only care about your status in the game. Wasn't he on "All About The Benjamins?" Stop it already. Accept that he's not hot and hasn't been hot in nearly a decade. I did see a couple of items on the book over at, you guessed it, SOHH, but they didn’t reveal any juicy tidbits. Nullus. The fact that SOHH Teh Gyant apparently has yet to get his hands on a copy (you know he’s interested) suggest to me that the publisher might be playing this one especially close to the hip. Um, nullus.

2. Whose generals are most capable?
3. Who can take advantage of the benefits of heaven and earth?

5. Whose army is the strongest?
6. Whose troops have the best training?
7. Which army’s rewards and punishments are fairest and strictest?

The answers to these questions and reliance on the principle, “know thyself, know thine enemy” help to determine success in waged war. Barack, and his enemies, knew that Reverend Wright was a liability because he did not embody the submissive, emasculated, harmless Christian pastor that would make White people comfortable. While Barack campaigned as a uniting force, the enemy knew that his close association to Reverend Wright, who personified the Angry Black Man, would severely damage Barack’s chances. Wondering if Barack secretly harbored Reverend Wright’s views is a risk most Whites, even very liberal ones, would not be willing to take. It was only a matter of time before the Reverend Wright situation would be played out.

The greatest fear of White Americans is that somehow, someway, Blacks would exact revenge, or even pursue real Justice, for the harm done to them for over 400 years so the fight for the White House by a Black man is nothing short of war. Propaganda furthers the goal of psychologically convincing civilians that “this is for your own good and we’re only here to help” before armed takeovers.

Sean Hannity’s relentless harboring on “The Real Barack Obama” did not fall on deaf ears. He was rallying the troops against Barack and his pastor until the other news networks finally took the bait. This is one area about Whites that Blacks could take a lesson - even if every one of their groups disagree on tactics or principles, they work in tandem to further their objectives as a race.

The civilians happily feed from the main stream media and have not cared to know anything about the Black church, Black existence, or Black struggles. That is, until Barack Obama. Even Barack’s supporters were taken aback by their cluelessness in Black issues. They too were shocked in hearing sound bytes of Reverend Wright. Isn’t the Matrix grand? Who cares if it is all a hoax? Just hug me, kiss me, and tell me lies.

The “Farrakhan Test” is an easy one for them. In conversation, they regurgitate news commentators with phrases like, “he’s a hater, he’s anti-American, he’s an anti-Semite.” But, how could this crazed Reverend Wright on the video loop be our Beloved Barack’s pastor? The diehard Barack supporters who investigated further realized the job the mainstream media has been doing on Black folks since it began.

While we write and complain to the mainstream media about their inaccurate accounts of us, we should keep in mind their objective. Why waste anger and effort when they are doing what they are designed to do? Why not create institutions that further our own objectives?

A caller on WVON’s Cliff Kelly’s show said that, “we need to sound the alarm.” The alarm, dear caller, was sounded in 1965 with the release of Message to the Blackman. But, because the media had stigmatized Elijah Muhammad, Blacks turned him off and refused to listen. We didn’t know we could find value in something different while not agreeing on every point so we threw the baby out with the bath water. And, what happened?

We integrated and got what? We had our own media and now have what? We heard our music take a depraved turn and did what? We had our own movie houses and now have what? We had our own businesses and now have what? We have a Black candidate for president and he had to do what? We have thousands of Black churches and they do what? Alas, the message Do for Self was lost and we are now paying the price.

Barack has now shed the baggage of major names in the Black community. He already maintained distance from Jesse and Al and now, he and Reverend Wright have parted. He even went further on Farrakhan by saying that the only man who called two million men to Washington, D.C., including him, is not an important voice of our century. Dr. Cornel West criticized him for not going to Memphis for the Dr. King event and he is facing increasing criticism from Black civilians. Especially for dismissing the U.S. Special Virus Program which many believe created AIDS to kill Blacks. This turn has deeply affected his Black supporters but, Tavis and all of the other haters are probably loving it.

Whether these disassociations does him any good with White voters remain to be seen. What is clear is that, based on warfare, this will not be enough for his enemies. The protective hedge has been removed from Barack and his enemies are licking their chops because they got to him. They unnerved him. They manufactured a rift between he and the closest man to a father he had.

I was at the National Press Club and saw Reverend Wright first hand. His appearances on Bill Moyers Journal and the NAACP should not have been negated by the vast contrast in his demeanor. Jeremiah Wright was in the same room with the same people responsible for raking him over the coals for over forty days. If truth be told, the National Press Club was the courtroom of a hostile and unfair prosecution where Jeremiah Wright was the hostile witness.

A man sitting next to me raised his voice while describing Wright as a wacko who caters to wackos. Even Greta van Susteren was sitting a few seats away from him. Remember when someone interrupted him? It was the same reporter from Fox News who tried to ambush Father Pfleger in front of St. Sabina. For me, just seeing these people in person made my blood boil.

FATHER OF 3 | Family says he was shot after quarrel with co-worker

A 28-year-old Chicago man was shot to death Wednesday at the West Side factory where he worked, authorities said.

Santos Rivera, a married father of three children, was shot just before 2 p.m. at O&G Spring & Wire Form Specialty Company, 4500 W. Division.

Police were questioning "a person of interest."

Rivera's family says Rivera and another employee quarreled sometime earlier Wednesday.

Police could not confirm that account.

Dozens of grieving family members, including the man's wife and oldest child, a 12-year-old boy, gathered outside the factory, looking for answers. A company spokesperson could not be reached for comment.

Rivera was a 10-year employee at the factory, which makes springs for major appliances and electronics, according to family and the company's Web site.

The same can be said for us too. Why the outrage of Sean Bell and not the thousands of black murder victims killed by blacks. Where's the outrage for all rape victims? We only seem to get riled up by alleged rapes committed by whites. Race is a sensationalist dream. It sirs emotions while compounding ignorance no matter who is behind it.

Yeah man, but U know how it is with the media, they shed some light on the fact that 30 something people got shot, then it's on 2 the Rev. Wright/Barack Obama grudge match, which should not even be a factor.

I'm not looking at the end result alone. I'm looking at the WHOLE picture instead of the parts that support any one point of view. Picking and choosing what we notice is called PROPAGANDA. A common practice nowadays.

For every person who complains about the programming on BET there's about 5 who think it's okay.

I believe in conspiracies in some cases but not to the point of promoting flava of love as a means to keep us back. LOL! Do you know what the ratings were on FOL? It was the highest rated show in VH1 history. LMAO!

I produce for TV and I pitch ideas all the time. I pitched a show to Frontline about the impact of Hip Hop and they didn't care about it. You know why? Because I was taking an unpopular stance at the time to visually document what critics of rap have been saying for years.

More white kids are negatively affected by rap than blacks because it is they who buy 85% of the albums and they still don't care. All these people care about is the bottom line. End of story.

They don't cater to blacks because they don't know how to extract our money and they therefore assume we have none. That's why we aren't respected. They're scared to give us loans because statistics show we're not likely to pay it back. They're scared to open businesses in our neighborhoods because statistics show we have very narrow interests. Do you think the reason there's no bookstores in our neighborhoods is because nobody wants us to read? No bro, it's because not enough of us buy books. Instead we buy BOOTLEGG books from sidewalk vendors. LOL! Getting money from the black community is like getting water from a rock.

Before you convince yourself that there's some complex reason for everything involving us just follow the money. Sure we voice displeasure at everything but what do we DO?!

For real, we're all too known for complaining. I just wish we'd be known for getting sh!t done.
