The Game Needs to STAY IN HIS NECK OF THE WOODS

First and foremost, TO ALL MINORITIES IN NYC, PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THE BELOW TEXT MESSAGE/EMAIL-CIRCULATED ALERT:

"We are shutting down NYC on Saturday, May 3. We urge all minorities not to spend a single dime anywhere in NYC on Saturday; no gas, no food, and NO CLOTHES. RIP Sean."

sean_bell.jpg

I respect the fact that The Game went and made a record in protest of the NYPD acquittal in the Sean Bell case. We are all very upset and deeply disturbed by the judge's decision, so although "911 is a Joke" is a joke itself-- as it sounds to me like a mediocre record and desperate attempt at controversy-- there are a couple of a lines I do agree with. But this arrogant asshole, who seems to carry this reeking, nasty, I-run-New-York attitude every time he steps into town, is getting a bit besides himself. Apparently he's still holding on to that "300 Bars" joint that preceded the Jamaica Avenue G-Unot billboard.

"Man if that happened in L.A., do you know you could see smoke form the hills?" he asked. "You look into the city, you'd see smoke and everything would be on fire. I don't know why New York is so quiet and I don't know if New York being quiet isn't the right thing to do."

First and foremost, this is NOT the 1992 L.A Riots. We know you think you were a part of the looting that Dr. Dre rapped about in "The Day the N*ggaz Took Over"... but you're not. Second of all, L.A has it's own issues. Instead of talking about what South Central would be doing had the Sean Bell incident occurred there, you might want to talk about THIS (very graphic) VIDEO that hit the net a couple of months ago.

In it, the LAPD is caught on a camera phone chasing and shooting numerous bullets at an unarmed black man on L.A's Crenshaw Boulevard. And on the ground you can see him viciously kicking and squirming on the pavement. I can't even count how many bullets I heard pop off. And in addition to that, while these cops were aimlessly and sloppily busting caps at homie, they totally and completely ignored the fact that there were innocent bystanders-- and drivers-- in the mix. And loose bullets have no name on them.

The victim, named Maurice L. Cox Jr., died after being hit with several bullets-- from several guns. And the family is filing a multi-million dollar lawsuit against the LAPD. And you can bet they'll lose. And if they took the cops to court in hopes of giving them time, they'd lose that battle, too. And L.A wouldn't do a thing about it.

"Police shot Cox multiple times in what the family's attorney, Carl Douglas, called "contagious fire," as Cox tried to flee after his pickup struck a tree on Crenshaw Boulevard, near Slauson Avenue, on March 1. Douglas said that when officers heard other officers shooting, they opened fire as well."

Sounds all too familiar. And nobody's saying anything about this, now are they?

Son... mind your neck. And take care of your own hood. Nobody cares about what you think of New York City and what we're doing. It amazes me of how important this dude thinks he is. Take that wack record and flush it.

Meanwhile, I'll be hoping that people remember Saturday.

And it was a shame that only 50 protestors showed up for the Sean Bell protest in front of Madison Square Garden Wednesday. They should have advertised it a little better. But on the flipside, AMNY also reported that ex-pimp Al Sharpton is organizing a bigger and better rally. Let's hope this one is a turn-out.

This is why people think New Yorkers are a bunch of arrogant fucks.

If you look at the video on Game's website, you'll see Game say that he was too young to get involved on the L.A Riots in 92 and now he's able to get involved with the Sean Bell case.

By the way, "911 Is A Joke" is on point.

Though i agree that the overlooked case you highlighted is a point of makes Jayceon look like a hypocrite .... or at least a Dead President Idiot ...

The issue he's still raising Reckless, which you stated yourself was that only 50 Protestors showed up in front of Madison Square Garden ... 50 ...

The point he also made was there was levels of apathy or acceptance that were undermining any sort of community action ...

Then again ... this isn't the first time Rap's Anti-Hero has said something stupid ...

Ironic 5-0, 50, and police co-operation go hand in hand .

QUICK HIT...

1) While I'd like to give him the benefite of doubt that he's being sincere, this sounds much too much like the rhetoric of an ambulance chaser. (Dayum, I thought that was reserved for the Jesse's and Al's!)

2) A protest and public display is fine; but no one should advocate rioting and looting. The fact that "Jayceon" does that proves how ignorant he is.

3) I'll repeat myself by adding that LITIGATION is the best way to go about this. The ruling has to be appealed to a higher court and the cops should at the very least get charged for wrongful death. But litigation against the NYPD needs a dream-team of attorneys plus some endorsement from local and state politicians.

So that means MONEY. If "Jayceon" wants to work toward a real solution, let him (and other entertainers) throw money at the Bell family for a proper legal team. Meanwhile, the rest of us should begin pressing the politicians to express outrage over this. Let the protests continue to keep this story on the front pages.

On that note, if either Hillary or Barack were smart, they'd add the Sean Bell case to their political stumping. Where's Barack's promise of change now??? THIS is the type of change the country needs. BUT THOSE 2 WON'T LIFT A FINGER BECAUSE THERE'S NO PRIMARIES INVOLVED... and the Black vote is already "in the bag."

This is going to take some real tenacity and perseverance

NYC look like punks right know

U can't tell people a WEEK prior to not buy anything and expect it to work..Especially something not to spend ANY money ...Don't get made @ game cuz he was right..You're so emotional and wanna get on here and talk about him,but what have u dont about the situation itself ?? Probably not a damn thing

I have to agree with Game.In L.A this would have been a different story.New York is soft. The niggas that consider themself real in Ny is Bloods N Crips, they usto be trendsetters but now they r just saps.NEW YORK FELL OFF.

@Reckless

You also forgot to mention that the ex-new york city police commissioner william Braton, now runs the LAPD and is employing the same tactics that he used in ny in LA.

LA dudes would like you to believe that they have the patent on killing each other, but the fact is that their crime rate has dropped dramatically.

The last stats that i saw,LA's murder rate was 12.0 while new york was 8.1

While places like newark,ny atlantic city,nj camden,nj irvington nj detroit baltimore philadephia saginaw,mi youngstown,OH etc. All have murder rates hovering around the 40.0 mark...

Hell, even places like Rochester,NY(22.0) and Buffallo,NY(23.3) have higher murder rates than LA...

The most murderous places in cali is inglewood, richmond, oakland, and compton.

I think game was attempting to call new york p*ssy while trying to get attention.

The fact is,before Guliani New york was crazy.

And what Game is bragging about is utter stupitidy.

LA rioted and burned up their own neiborhoods and killed their own people.

What did they accomplish with that???

As for Al sharpton,i sure wish he would attack our self hatred with the same aggression that he uses to rabble rouse and attempt to be a mini MLK in front of the cameras.

Again, these stats have been stated before.

Blacks make up 12% percent of the population and account for 50% of the murders.

Of those murders,96% percent of them were committed by another black person.

Given those stats, doesnt it appear to look like that we dont value our lives even more than cops do?

I blame Al Shady Sharpton and the people at national action network for blowing this case.

The Bell family and the defense witnesses were not only following the advice of Al Sharpton and his screwy lawyers but they were also getting financially supported.

Now you have the DA coaching them to do this and say that on the stand, then you got Al Sharptons people in their ear telling them to do and say somethin else.

I think the Bell family, the victims, and the witnesses might've made a big mistake by blindly following Al Sharpton.

Let this be a lesson my dudes.

Dont drink when your in public, and stay away from sh*t hole places that are frequented by the scum of the earth!

Is this what you really think would work, or just what you think you're SUPPOSED to say. "Let's go burn down the city and loot the shops and set some cars ablaze... and set the entire city back financially... and harm or kill your fellow man... or better yet attack a cop and get your own set of 50 rounds'."

Rioting will release the rage, and yet not accomplish a damn thing. It won't bring the cops to justice and it won't improve the Bell family's situation.

do you really think you will make a difference...

AND WHERE'S OUR NEW YORK SENATOR A.K.A. HILLARY CLINTON???

Political pressure should be applied to her so that she would, at the very least, "express outrage" over such an incident as well as promote a move to take this case to higher courts.

Politicians play the public like some puppets. They'll say anything when the timing is right. This would be a good opportunity for the Black community to force Clinton into some statements and responses on something that means a lot to us - especially if she's fighting for the Black vote; especially since the Democratic party has trained the Black population to believe that they're on "our side."

Dont get mad cuz The Game said something right about the situation. Just cuz hes from The West coast doesnt mean he cant have an opinion on the situation. If this happened in Houston where im from you would see Quanell X and the New Black Panther Party and others picketing and standing up for the people. You are right this stuff happens all the time and you cant help every situation but when the case is this big and national you have to do something. Not spending money is the best yall can do? They dont give 2 shits about if you dont spend money.

The point Game made was there was levels of apathy or acceptance that were undermining any sort of community action ...

First of all,i dont believe that there was any acceptance of this.

Number 2. Why do people equate loud emotion arousing TALK and marching with ACTION.

Thats the 60's way of doing things.

We must work quietly and infultrate/assimilate the system and make it work for us from the inside.

Dont get me wrong,im all for hopeless a$$holes gettin put in the dirt,i can understand that.

But We must also reject criminal behavior against one another and stop thinking its cool.

This is the only statement I agree with this morning! As far as Game goes, he has a right to say what he wants. Maybe he's sincere. Who are we to say that he isn't. The fact is, no NY supposed "king" or relevant artist has said one word about this case from the beginning. That's why some of you that get so heated over these rappers and their personal business, financial portfolio, record sales and the b.s. they spew should just fall back. They only subscribe to one thing and that's the almighty dollar. That's why all these
Clinton supporters need to open up their eyes to what she really cares about. Winning plain and simple. She'll continue to focus on insignificant junk like Rev. Wright and riding in trucks with middle class whites in Indiana like she's ever lived that kind of life. Meanwhile, her state just lost a governor, the Sean Bell case is being swept under the rug and even Bloomberg is about to back Obama. Game has a right to think and say what he wants. Whether he's sincere or not is not for us to judge. At least he's saying something. Where is Mr. N**gger or S.Dot? How about 50 who runs NY or KRS? Chuck D is too busy trying to get his label off. I say all of that to say this: stop making these guys leaders. They are only voices that need to eat just like me and you. I'm out. This blog has gone to heck with the stans. Reckless step up your game and stop acting like a crab-in-the-barrel. Peace to the real!!!!

These pseudo revolutionist make me laugh...

Half of them wouldnt bust a grape in a fruit fight.

And what are they suggesting?

Do they want us to go out there and shoot cops and get all of us killed?

Where are all the pseudo revolutionist at when the issue is black on black crime which a much more serious problem?

Where are they when these little girls and kids keep gettin hit with strays and dieing?

Where are they when innocent people are getting robbed raped and assaulted?

Peace to React and Atheist.

The mindset of some people is embarrassing. It's easy to see how some successful blacks become aloof. It looks hopeless at times. Game is an azzhole. The real problem in this instance is entertainers and people who never accomplished a damn thing in their life that benefitted someone other than themselves have too much say so in our community.

Why do we listen to Game or 50 or Pac as if they're experts on anything besides making music? ENTERTAINMENT and ENTERTAINERS for the most part have no serious solutions for ANYTHING. They can't even figure out how to sell records anymore so why would anyone care what they have to say about anything else?

Then you have preachers who talk about EVERYTHING besides spirituality. Does anyone know how to stay in their lane anymore?

No matter what the topic the focus will always shift to what someone else did or should do. Our responsibility and accountability never comes up. That's the quickest way to lose support. (you mean WE have to do something? f*ck outta here!)

The LA riots was a convenient opportunity for bums and losers to pillage and burn their OWN communities some of which still haven't recovered. Furthermore, it resulted in roughly 70 black deaths and not one police officer was killed. That really showed them we mean business didn't it? I bet they were busy killing each other for the stolen goods while settling gand beefs all in the name of police brutality.

I'm tired of talking. There's really nothing to say to people who can't differentiate between victory and losing, good and bad. Maybe it's because people who don't have a clue on how to win are left with no choice but to glamorize losing. Hence, doing time in prison, having children all over the place, selling drugs, getting shot, stabbed, or murdered are all things to brag about among the ignorant.

And lets not forget to look as scary as possible with the tats, dreads, muscles, mean mugs and gold teeth while we're drowning in quicksand. We might not be able to pay our rent but we sure can scare whitey. They know not to f*ck with us... We're baaaaad. LOL!

Just running through my early route and saw this blog and I think it is great. Let me offer this and then I am done. Reckless and other New Yorkers I think that you are reading too much into Game’s statement. You are looking at his comments literally. What I get from his comments is “where is the NY Sean Bell organizers and supporters’ follow up to the verdict. Why does there appear to be stagnation at this point.” Now he is from Los Angeles and so his reference for similar injustices is the LA riots and so he said in LA “Thus and so would have happened.” It does not mean he is advocating people in New York riot. I am a New Yorker too and I wondered where was the follow up at as well. I don’t care if Al is out front or a no name Bill of some sort is out front. I don’t care if the usual National Black figures (Opportunists or not) are leading this initiative or the no name grassroots people are leading the initiative; the question remains: where is the follow-up. Whether this follow up is by way of economic boycott, civil disobedience; political activism or the outright ignorance of f*cking up your own community and local business; where is the follow up.

On Monday before I left I asked the question how many of the bloggers who lived in NY have got involved with his situation and not one person said “me”. So Reckless targeting Game for asking a legitimate question is Reckless of you. It amazes me how on this blog you cats let personalities become impediments to you and to the fact that you dismiss the principle all together. What is the difference in Game saying this and Chuck D saying this. Where is the follow up. Where is the plan. As ignorant and self destructive as the LA riot was it did generate a federal case against the LAPD. So as oppose to writing a Blog to Kick Game why don’t you Kick Al Sharpton (in this case it is needed if he leading this effort) or whoever has failed to move this thing forward. Beating up game for asking a legitimate question appears to be the P8ssy way of addressing the issue.

This is great blog today, Reckless but I disagree with your point a view of it. To kick Game for asking a damm good question based of an observation that many outside of NYC have is crazy. The other thing Game loves NY. He wasn’t disssing NY. He has been d*ckriding NY since he became a rapper.

Stop deflecting and deal with the issue which is Al Sharpton and everyone else APPEARS to be sitting on their ass and just like I said last time will soon forget about out as these folks wait Negroes out so that anger dissipate like they always do.

This is the only comment I will make on this topic but I will check back in periodically to see what you cats have to say. I think this is a great blog.

Boycott Saturday and pay me Sunday, Negroes...

I don't know how not spending money in NYC is going to solve anything. If I could understand if you are talking about organized protests in front of 1 Police Plaza or in front of city hall or even in front of the Judge's house but store boycott, makes no sense. If you think this is crazy, here are just some of my reasons for feeling this way.
1) It is not going to cripple the city.
2) You are going to hurt minority store owners my doing this.
3) People are just going to buy there things on Friday or Sunday, negating everything that the post was for.
4) If it does "criple" the city, it is just going to trickle down to cuts in Transportation, Services, and the Education System, where mainly minorities go to .
5) not everyone has a car so they can't go to Long Island or Jersey if they really need something.
6) Too short in notice and not well organized or thought out.

Listen, I think the verdict was a disgrace and a travesty like anyone else who has a heart rather but, this is not going to get the results that we need. I mean come on, the mayor, you could tell thinks it is bullshit. We need some of the young cats beside Sharpton to step up and come up with a boycott that would produce results, is just, and makes total sense. This don't mean a person like the Game but rather someone that has sense and is respected as such. Where Chuck D or Krs-One.

Where were you Reckless? Cause I know your self righteous azz wasnt down at the courthouse for the ruling, so beitches that live in glass whore houses shouldnt throw stones, eh?

B.T.W. A lil tidbit about the Lame's "diss track" to the LAPD (Love the NYC "Dead Presidents" clown make up too ya faggit) was another track he just renamed and changed the hook on for this sean bell case cause theres 9754438775430958213 rappers doing Sean Bell songs for shine. Game dosent give a crap about Sean Bell and his statements about Cali "seeing the smoke from the hills" is some ignant sheit. "Lets all go burn down our minority owned shops / cars/ homes and loot them because some cop shot a minority" Yeah, that sounds like it makes a whole ton of sense huh? Pshaw! Theres the same thing happenin in Cali erry day and Game aint sayin sheit. Fact is he has an album comin and needs some publicity, when what he needs to do is quit hangin off of 50s nuttsack constantly. I mean seriously "Thisizgame.com" man, getcha own ideas you lame. Game is stupid. Listen to the tracks from Termanology and Papoose and the other REAL cats who made REAL tracks for Sean, not these re-hooked premade tracks for some publicity like the lame and NY-Ghey-Oiler.

Peas to the real, u kno the deal.

I'll give you props for making an attempt to "clean up" Jayceon's comment. But unless the whole article which these snippets came from clarify it as not being literal, and if we're reading and commenting on the same thing - there's nothing "lost in the translation."

Reposting, it reads: ""Man if that happened in L.A., do you know you could see smoke form the hills?" he asked. "You look into the city, you'd see smoke and everything would be on fire. I don't know why New York is so quiet and I don't know if New York being quiet isn't the right thing to do."

There ain't nothing symbolic or metaphoric about that. The city in smoke and everything on fire.

And since it's clear that he's advocating actual, literal rioting and looting (burning of property), I'd say his comments are ill-advised.

And look at how the rest of the "goons" on this blog took it. They believe we have to respond with physical violence and disruption or else we're "soft." So in my book, NO, Jayceon doesn't get a pass.

I wonder why Game has anything to say about Sean Bell when MS13 and Surenos are randomly killing blacks in LA. Game, Snoop and all the other "gangsta rappers" in the west avoid that topic like the plague for fear of upsetting the eses. Why is it I always here same Cali rapper making overtures to Latinos when all they get in return is a brown azz to kiss?

New york rappers all prostitutes.. The same elitists that aquitted the murderers of Sean bell, Are the same Elitists that cut Jay z, 50 cent, Nas, and all the rest of those sellouts checks.. Ya'll know it too.. Everybody is just so obsessed with this material world movement to even see whats poppin.. New York... Ya'll Lost and are losin for this right here homey, this isht right here transcends these cotton club rappers homey.. Whats poppin with the black community right now. All sharpton is a Freemason... Ya'll gonna have that Uncle Tom organize a rally to make ya'll feel better for being complacent cowards, who care about nothing but timberlands boots and true religion jeans.. y'all are sick.. Even Game who was a former male stripper is callin ya'll bluff... SHAME.. NY ya'll lost

Heres what your boy barrack obama position on the sean bell verdict at a time when hes mired in racial contraversy and hurting for working class white votes...

By Alec MacGillisINDIANAPOLIS(AP) -- Sen. Barack Obama weighed in today on the acquittals of New York City police detectives charged in fatally shooting an unarmed black Queens man, Sean Bell, saying he believed that the verdict needed to be respected and urging those who disagreed with it not to resort to violence.

That would be "completely unacceptable and counterproductive," Obama said.

"Well, look, obviously there was a tragedy in New York.

I said at the time, without benefit of all the facts before me, that it looked like a possible case of excessive force.

The judge has made his ruling, and we're a nation of laws, so we respect the verdict that came down," he said in response to a question at a gas station in Indianapolis, where he was holding a news conference.

"The most important thing for people who are concerned about that shooting is to figure out how do we come together and assure those kinds of tragedies don't happen again," he continued. ...

"Resorting to violence to express displeasure over a verdict is something that is completely unacceptable and counterproductive.

"The verdict, which has touched off a storm of protest in New York, arrives at a delicate time in the campaign for Obama. After his loss to Sen. Hillary Clinton in the Pennsylvania primary, some Democrats are quietly worrying whether Obama's difficulty in winning over working-class white voters could pose a problem for the party if he is the nominee.

Mind you, there hasnt been any violence reported in new york!

Does this sound like political posturing for the working poor "captain america" middle american rural whites to you?

I understand what Game is saying but at the same time i still think it is ignorant. Burning up our own community serves no purpose, more black bloodshed serves no purpose. These cops are itching to pump bullets in some more negores. That is NOT the answer. what we need are strategic plans. Our "black" radio stations need to announce when these boycotts or protests will be periodically throughout the day. Hot 97, 105.1, 107.5, WBLI we need THEIR voices to get to our people. the same way they broadcast about these concerts or buying cars, let us know whats going on. All these websites need to advertise as well when these protests will be. Its almost like we have no voice. if you can put up nonsense about which celebrity is doing coke or F'kn who, then you can alert us as to when these demonstrations are going on. How do we format letters to send to our local politicians? Provide us with the addresses, a lot of people dont have computers to just "look up the information". Cool Herc is mad about losing some building in the Bronx, well get mad at an unarmed black father and husband losing his life.

Let us start with an agreed premise of F*ck Game. Let us say that Chuck D made the comments and ask the question remains- where is the follow up.

Game said he talked to Al and al didn't have a F8ckin clue of what they were going to do next. Now Al is not a dummy - perhaps he was keeping his cards close to his chest in fear that Game was using this as way of promoting his ablum or maybe Al really doesn't have a F8ckin clue.

So what I talking about when i say personalities as the impediment to the issues or the Principles in a given situation I am saying that we let Game; Al; Farrakhan; Obama or anyone else become the issue for us and forget the real issue. Why spend days on end saying F&ck these cats while not developing anything as the alternative. I say F8ck Game's motivation: the question remains - where is the follow up!

You and I know that Game is out of his element. However it doesn't change his fundalmental question of what are we going to do now. Reckless and others can try to bait and switch but to outsiders it still does speak to our collective paralysis regarding this case.

Sh*t Farrakhan or Al or Jesse don't have to lead. If you have a better plan and way get out there and move the people. Why are you wasting all this time kicking them. When some one or something is ineffective them move it out your way and make it better.

To be honest with you I think NYkers are pissed because he asked the question and that sh*t hit a nerve - well if it did then i say great for Game - Maybe him embarrassing us will now make some of us get up off our @ss and do something!

I don't have a probem with anything Game said. The truth hurts sometimes.

To his credit Obama didn't OVERTLY invoke race in this campaign. Unfortunately, once the genie comes out the bottle it's hard putting it back in. Have you been checking the drudge report? Despite all the Jeremiah Wright furor in our "little world" the power brokers are steadily abandoning Hillary and defecting to Obama.

When the topic of race comes up it has a paralyzing effect on our community and that point is used against us masterfully time and time again. It's not that I don't think it exists - it's that I see the race issue being our Achilles Heel. We become so predictable when race is involved that our every move is anticipated and trumped in advance.

This is chess not checkers. I want that brother to win. Not because I think he's going to do anything tangible for blacks but because perception in itself is EXTREMELY powerful. The perception alone of a black man running the most powerful nation in the history of the world is a pleasant change from what we've been promoted as over the last few decades.

That's enough for me. Anything else is just gravy.

@ Everyone:

And see Reckless has effectively created a Bait and switch situation. By a show of hands - who gives a F8ck about Game?

Ok!

Now how many of you give a F8ck about the Sean Bell case let me see your hands?

co-sign. Good posts by both you and React this morning! I feel that it doesn't matter who says it or where it's coming from. Someone needs to ask the question. If it's going to be his contradictory butt then so be it. But, ask the question.

Also, co sign Nimrod's thoughts on Barack Obama. I know we have to be careful with the race dialogue but the idea of a Black person running the most powerful nation in the world is such a pleasant idea. What if he picks Bill Richardson as his running mate? Wow!

I'm definitely out now, time to go over to the plantation.

There is a follow up and concern for the sean bell verdict.

Just because theres not your usual loud talking doesnt mean people are not using the proper channels available to them to handle the situation.

The only thing that can be done now is to try to lobby for a federal investigation and try to make sure that the nypd improves and follows their own policing policies in the future.

And those efforts are in motion now.

There also needs to be more blacks in law enforcement.

@ BIGUP2BK

Nuff respek! Yeah, of course you couldn't stay away! This blog is like crack... might as well sit down next to the rest of us and get do them lines... LOL!

1) I still think the type of "follow-up action" Game is suggesting is pure ignorance. But like you said, he's out of his league and (I believe) he's just being opportunistic.

2) As far as the answer to "what are we going to do now" or even better "what CAN we do," I'll refer backto my earlier post: litigation, raise funds for the litigation, pressure on local and state politicians, etc.

3) I agree with the comment on personalities/celebrities becoming an impediment on real issues - but my clarification is that we're not the ones who are choosing to focus at these clowns and away from the matter at hand. Rather, it's the opportunistic and attention-grabbers fault for stepping into the spotlight and making this into a "me" situation.

4) You wrote: "To be honest with you I think NYkers are pissed because he asked the question and that sh*t hit a nerve - well if it did then i say great for Game - Maybe him embarrassing us will now make some of us get up off our @ss and do something! 1st off not spending $ in NY is a good move! Not that it will cripple the city but it shows unity in the minority community! Thast the point! thats whats needed most! We need to unite as a people and stand together! I encourage every1 in NY to take part & show that we can come together for the worse! 2nd, Game is right! NY artists should be standing and speaking up about this incident, & if not themselves then fund those artists that are active in the community (like Immortal Technique) and help them to be heard nationally! Just do Something!!! All U suckas wanna be passive and apathetic til it happens to u or 1 of ur loved 1's! Thats a true bitch!

@ ATHEIST

I agree with you 100% on federal investigation and the need for more Blacks in law enforcement (as well as the judicial system). But too many of our people have been programmed to believe that "real Niggaz" need to get out and burn sh*t to really show they've got Sean Bell's back.

And thanks for posting that article on Obama's initial reaction to the Sean Bell case.

@ NIMROD

Great assessment on Barack Obama. And as shown in the article that Atheist posted, he is crippled on what he can say and do due to his predicament. As far as his support, something very interesting is happening. CNN has been reporting that his national support in the polls has dwindled - he went from an 11 point advantage to a 1-point lead. Yet he's getting more and more Clinton defectors to join his camp.

All this means to me is Hillary aint going to quit anytime soon.

what up homie u made the comment that surenos and ms-13 run l.a that my brother is 80% false yea they deep but they don have a stronghold on the majority of all the blk communities in l.a. as always the media blows everything out of proportion or tell half truths which i hate. in all my years of living on this earth i only seen maybe 5 hispanics go after a well known blk gangmember. but usually they always target innocent blk people which is stupid 2 me or i hate 2 say it ricans when they come 2 visit. and with the ms-13 and sureno's only got a semi truce right now because they realize that its so called bad for business 2 be beefing which is a strategy some of our blk gangs need to do around here.

but trust me the sureno's and ms-13 as well as the nuestra familia will quickly kill each other before they start targeting blk.

as for the riot issues well that's us its in our nature i can't approve it or i can't deny it what can i say us l.a. dudes stay pissed off but i admit it doesn't give us an excuse to go burn up stores and loot.

Yeah but we have to be careful that we don’t become militant Uncle Toms. Kicking Al and Jesse and Farrakhan, is fashionable today. These are men in the late 60’s and early 70’s who are in questionable health. I have a friend from college who is in the Nation and he tells me that Farrakhan is in the hospital a great deal and is really struggling with his health. He has almost died several times over the last five years for what he tells me. So Farrakhan is focusing on his health right now.

Jesse has really been a mute since Bush dropped kicked him in the nuts by exposing him as lying cheating adulterer and a hypocrite when exposed him in 2001 for having a baby with another woman who isn’t his wife. Al is old and some wonder if Al was and still is a paid informant for the government. And when people look back on the Black Panther and US conflict people wonder if Malana Karenga was and is a paid informant. Some people refuse to celebrate Kwanza because they see that as the pacifier and a suppressant to black militancy.

So the Militant Uncle Tom has a great data base of missteps of our leaders and they can cite these things for the purpose of breaking your belief in these cats and hope out of Black leadership deprivation that they created in your mind that you will now choose working within the system for progress. Well that is your choice of which you are going to line up with because following those cats in 60’s or 70’s or working through the system both will result in failure. It is just a matter of what vehicle you want to drive to failure the point is that both roads will lead that way.

Anyway’ I don’t think that it is necessary to move them out the way because I don’t think that they are in the way. They are elderly and are just trying to manage their health at this point. I certainly don’t see Game as an issue for Black folks. I hope that Game’s sincerity or hypocrisy will force the other rappers to change their lyrical content to be politically- lyrical with their songs. I hope Game’s album sell 20 million because if that happens all of the other appers will become political in nature with their music. It will be born out of hypocrisy but so what!

Finally; I always make run through here when I am at work. I just got tired of arguing with cats. I have been writing a lot of blogs on 360 and that is much better because you don’t have stans breaking up the continuity of the blog. So that is where I am at but this Game topic I thought was great so I wanted to weigh in and then get out.

Lloyd Banks: Two times in the last two years he wanted to kill himself.

Yayo: Pull the trigger what is he waiting for?! Just pull the goddamn trigger. I’ll celebrate.

Llloyd Banks: Look at me [looks at camera], next time you’re in your crib in the dark, right, and you got that joint to your head, just do it. Blow your noodles out all over the nice wall and get it over with. That’s not even a good message to be puttin’ out their either, what the f**k kind of s**t is that? Kill yourself?

Nimrod, you need to chill. You have NO idea what youre talking about, no idea what goes on out here.
You sit at home and watch media reports, and you yourself said the media is sensationalized.
There aint no racial tension, its gang violence.
Same ol' gangbangin the way its always been, its not no latinos "pushing" blacks out of our own hoods, some of us have "come up" and moved out, while latinos keep movin in, so of course they got numbers, and this is LA, so they use that to a gang advantage.
If you DIDNT know, la is mostly latino, its a few hours away from mexico, so to be in la is to know latinos, which is why most gangsta rappers show love to the eses, cause you aint in the streets if you dont cross paths with the eses, they everywhere. Disrespecting eses in LA is like disrespecting Puerto ricans in NY or blacks in Chicago or Detriot.
You dont know anything about gangbangin, so i cant explain to you whats really goin on, and you not dismiss it, but trust, its not that serious out here.

BUT HOLD UP. BACK TO THE AL SHARPTONS AND JESSES, ETC....

You know, come to think of it, people like them could be of use if they only knew how not to hog the spotlight but instead actually be productive.

1) Part of what I see as the solution is the necessity to keep this in the public's eye and force a reaction from the politicians. So these guys, with all of their connections and sway, should organize demonstrations. BUT IT MUST BE DONE WITHOUT THE BLATANT ATTENTION GRABBING ANTICS. There is a way of effectively and productively organizing these events.

2) Action definitely must be taken. But one thing which is certain is that THOSE GUYS ARE IN A POSITION TO DO MORE THAN ME AS AN INDIVIDUAL. The tragedy is the spoil the opportunity. For instance, I as an individual can't get the ear of a big name politician or corporate owner, but they can. Trust me when I say that the Black community doesn't need these fools to act as our super-heroes. But what we do need is a SECRETARY and A MIDDLE MAN WITH CONNECTIONS. And that is to do something.

3) Most of what I surmize as solutions or a plan of action can and should be performed by an established, nationally recognized, and politically significant organization. BUT MY GREAT FRUSTRATION is that we do have such already in place... BUT THEY DON'T DO SH*T!!!

These are the things that the NAACP should be spear-heading. But they're too busy selecting the next recepient of their "image award" and trying to acquire the film rights to "Soul Train." And what about the Congressional Black Caucus??? We're getting congressional hearings for roids in baseball and are prosecuting pitchers and physical trainers!!! Where are the hearings on the pattern of police brutality by the NYPD and LAPD.

So, don't blast me for not doing enough as an individual... cause I can only do so much. But those who have the opportunity to do much more are doing little next to nothing. That's very frustrating.

I'm out for a while. Good convo, y'all. Peace to the grown and intelligent.

I'm going to say this and I don't think anyone will agree with me but I have to say it nonetheless.

Sean Bell's death is a tragedy but it's not a turning point in history. He is but one casualty on the battlefield of life. I don't know what can be done about his death at this point. The cops can go to prison and the victims and family can sue. After they get their millions with our support will they remain active in the struggle or will they do like Abner Louima and ride off into the sunset with saddle bags filled with money to balmy Palm Beach? Where are the past recipients of our collective support? To whom much is given much is required.

I say that to say as wrong as what happened to Sean Bell is much of it is PERSONAL. What I mean by that is - is it really an attack on all blacks when 2 black cops and a Lebonese officer use excessive force aganst an individual who happens to be black? Was it an attack on all blacks when a group of kids who happened to be black beat up so white kids in Jena Tx about a hangout spot under a tree? Is it an attack on blackness because Rev Wright has been attacked for putting his foot in his mouth on more than one occassion and got called to task on it? Is everything racial or do we make it racial when another race is involved? I'm just asking. Can a white do anything to a black and it NOT be racial? I'm wondering.

I'm interested in changing and passing laws that will positively affect MY quality of life and that of my loved ones and neighbors. I'm interested in having laws meant to protect my rights enforced to the fullest. I'm also interested in learning from our mistakes so we don't repeat them. We can't bring back the dead or change history but if we're honest in identifying the choices within our grasp that can affect the outcome, and make them intelligently, much can come out of this.

I won't march with Sharpton because I don't believe in his tactics. I don't believe in them because the success rate is too low. Simple math. All business. Nothing personal.

Nim, homey, are you carribean or african or something, because you speak like you dont know, or you choose not to, acknowledge history.
America is not fair, it wasnt meant to be, its not some shining beacon of hope for the world, homey.
How are laws gonna be passed to help us, if black people take a conservative approach??
Conservative negroes are worse than white people, because you side with people who wont side with you. Just because a couple of the cops who killed Sean Bell were black, that doesnt mean New York City doesnt have racist policies!
Thats like assuming that since blacks work in the entertainment industry, its okay for us to be stereotyped. Its not US that needs to change, sir, its THEM.

Cops beat teen over link to Ryan Harris case: lawyer

May 2, 2008Recommend (4)

BY ERIC HERMAN Criminal Courts Reporter eherman@suntimes.com
Police pummeled an 18-year-old because they knew of his link to the infamous Ryan Harris case, in which he won millions from the city after murder charges against him were dropped, the man's lawyer said.

Elijah Henderson, of the 8400 block of South Carpenter, is charged with aggravated battery to a police officer for allegedly punching a cop in the chest on Tuesday.

When Henderson was 8, he and a 7-year-old friend were charged with killing Ryan Harris, 11. The charges were dropped, and in 2005, Henderson's family won a $6.2 million settlement from the city.

According to prosecutors and police, officers went to the Henderson house after his father was seen not wearing a seat belt and refused to stop for police.

At the house, family members became physically combative with police, officials say.

When police arrived, Henderson was "sweating and removing the clothing he was wearing," prosecutor Lorraine Scaduto said. The officers thought Henderson had helped his father flee, she said. An altercation followed, and Henderson hit an officer, she said.

Police arrested six people, including two juveniles. Among those charged with a felony is Henderson.

"I believe when they got into that house, they knew who this kid was," defense lawyer Andre Grant said of police.

Henderson's lawyers said he suffered a severe beating while in police custody, including cuts on his face and foot and possibly a broken jaw.

Appearing at a court hearing on a video monitor, Henderson appeared to have a bruise on one cheek. Judge Adam Bourgeois set bond at $5,000.

The Independent Police Review Authority is reviewing the incident.
...............................

That is commonplace in every city in the nation. This stuff happens everywhere. Sean Bell is not a turning point in history. Lynchings have been occurring for a long time. It just happened in NY where most things are blown out of proportion because of the overwhelming presence of the NY press core.

@ Dre, did you hear about this. Now Weiss is trying to give the cops M4's to combat crime. What help is that when the crime is already committed? I'm definitely out now. This blog stuff sure slows you down.

I responded to Game's comment which is the topic of the blog. This was not a personal attack on you so don't take it that way.

The fact is MS13 and Mexican gangs have murdered blacks indiscriminately not just in LA but in other parts of the city. I find it strange that GAME, who I was talking about, promotes black/latino unity and never discusses the green light issue. Neither does Snoop the way. You may live in LA but that doesn't automatically make you a gang expert nor does it mean no one can talk about gangs in detail but you.

I cant believe yall havent noticed the fact that "NO CLOTHES" is in all caps!

Simpson explains, "We'd go to sleep and we'd wake up, and the maid wasn't even here, but sunglasses, my Sony, my favorite Wireseal hat, all this stuff, my favorite make-up bag (was gone). We were like, 'Where is everything?' We asked the hotel and they said that the monkeys like shiny things. That monkey has some serious designer clothes."

@ Bigup2bk.

I know I need to clean up that last post, but I'm multi-tasking and wanted to speak my peace before I bounce. To summarize:

a) Action is needed, but it doesn't involve rioting and looting.

b) Anyone on this blog can criticize me for having ideas but not doing much, but...

c) In my position, I can only do so much. That's why we are supposed to have politicians, community leaders, and social activists. The problem is the current crop are "none of the above."

d) It's a shame and I really wish the hucksters knew what an advantageous position they were in and how much potential they had. If only Sharpton could see the light! If he only refrain from turning these issues into "photo-ops" and properly used his resources.

e) But he doesn't, and that's why I dudes like NIMROD will say that they're not attending their demonstrations. One good way to explain Sharpton's counter-productive antics is to look at the Boondocks episodes on "Hunger Strike." They nailed him dead-on!

TILL THE P.M. Y'ALL!!!

I'm not a part of the crowd that gets emotional and vocal only to have to repeat that process at a later time.

You are sensitive about anything that you misconstrue as an attack on your "hood" and I attribute that to your age. I'm bigger than that. I don't claim any of these "hoods." I simply point out hypocrisy and in this case it came from Game. Cool yourself. I'm not your enemy.

You make a lot of assumptions about me Kush and I don't believe we;ve personally met. You don't from angle I speak.

No disrespect homey, its all good.
I didnt mean to assume anything, im just tellin you whats good.
I WOULD consider myself a gang expert, because i grew up around it, most my friends are in gangs, and its been an integral part of my life.
But, I get what you saying, they ARE killin innocent blacks, but its not a "race war". The issue is simply the eses not being able to distinguish who bangs, and who doesnt.
For years, BLACKS were pickin on latinos, i know this from first hand experience, we were robbin them, makin fun of them, jumpin em, just punkin em in general.
Now they have numbers, and they playin the game, THATS IT.
And if youre waiting for rappers, who arent even in the streets themselves(if they ever were), to speak up, it wont happen.

The world ain't fair. Now get over it. That's not just America. That's everywhere.

I don't side with anyone. I side with TRUTH and COMMON SENSE that gets RESULTS.

I know you're not my enemy, im trying to get you to not hate your own people based on their choices.
We are who we are, we were made this way, thats my point.
Big brother(the gov) got us like this, we have to succeed in spite of the obstacles, not because of them, because america aint fair.
Its not even fair to white people, so its REALLLLY not fair to us.
We need all the help we could get, thats why "hood" n*ggas get mad at somebody like Bill cosby, because he's from the hood, so he knows how it is, so his p.o.v. should be to accept our flaws, and lets get it!!
We dont have to change OURSELVES completely to assimilate, just change the criminal mentality and actions, because THEY have to change, they enslaved us, they passed laws to hold us down, not the other way around, so they should cater to us, and anything less is unacceptable!!!

Peace 2 The Usuals!

I can see where Game is coming from with his comments, it took an L.A. cat 2 speak out, however, rioting, looting & burning up the hood will only bring more problems, & marching definitely does'nt solve anything, just more TV time 4 "A Pimp Named Sharpton".

game just said what the rest of the country is thinking because you hear these new york rappers and activists talking tough about their city but now they are doing anything but laying down and taking it.

@ React:

One thing that I have learned about Black leaders is that a person must be crazy if they want to be one. We are ungrateful; critical of anything black; don’t even finance our own struggles we let Jews do that for us and we are mentally weaker than those Black folks who discovered the art of breathing before us.

I actually do work in the community. Everyplace I have ever lived I got involved. No-one can accuse me of not being active. I paid my dudes in the classroom because I know that you have to gain access to policy or become a policymaker to create meaningful change and this white man respects credentials. As a Black person, if you are going to work in the system then you have to understand that it is your credentials and/or money that will give you a level of access to policy and nothing else. You also must change the attitudes of the people in order to create change.

See for me Al and the others are not beyond criticism but at least they are out there. We are a cynical and confused group of people who are programmed to self hate so our people will always question the intent of those who are Black and say they are here to help. This is why I say you have to be crazy to want to be a Black leader.

At the end of the day I don’t care what cats promote because it doesn’t impact me personally. I am an educated man who lives a comfortable life. I make it my business to do what I do. This blog is a sounding board. It means nothing if you are not out there. It is just the modern day Negro rhetoric and con jobs that cats accuse the old heads of.

If you want to make change will where is your check book? Jesse Jackson can effectively raise money. Jesse knows how to twist the arm of Corporate America and government and make them pay up. That is a needed quality in struggle. Farrakhan through his followers and friend abroad finance his movement where most Black movements are financed by Jews. Al has the ability to get a camera on him. You can move anything if you don’t gain exposure for the purpose of creating a consciousness and an awareness of the issue.

George Bush made Colin Powell an accomplice in the murder and slaughter of 4,000 American troops and over 200,000 Iraqis. Colin Powell was able to sell murder to the world because he was perceived as credible. Now his legacy is sh*tty. No one has asked for him to run for president like they did in 2000. The Obama shine was suppose to be Colin’s shine. But to the eyes of many he was the propaganda-ist who laid the foundation for Bush to commit mass murder. However the fact remains that if he holds a press conference today everyone will show up and here what he has to say.

In leadership you need someone can draw the lights and camera because the lights and camera are the perfect vehicle for articulating a message that will create awareness and consciousness. So because I study leadership of all kind I respect leaders and what they do and face. They really are sacrificial lambs. All these hypocritical King supporters would have parted company with King in 67 and 68. Hell the way the beat up Black people King would not have stood a chance with them as he oppose the Vietnam war and called them hypocrites. They would have called King a poverty pimp; a con man and a hustler; a swindler and a lying communist and adulterer. I mean the Negroes and Militant Uncle Toms of his day called him those things. Once he was killed and white folks embraced him and started handing out jobs in corporate America and making Negroes Mayors of failed cities and letting them into their schools and suburbs to live - Negroes and Militant Uncle Toms changed their tune about Dr. King. Sh8t what did they care now – King was dead and YT was giving them crumbs of appreciation.

Leadership of any kind is difficult but Black leadership is exceptionally difficult. Most folk are not on the battlefield they just kick those of us who are.

@ BIGUPBK

Bruh, there are tons of things in your post that I'd like to comment on (agreeing, disagreeing, adding my nickle's worth), but no time... unless I do it later in the day.

Just read on CNN that the famous Barbara Walters had an affair with a married BLACK senator. See, them white weemen can't leee a brutha alone!!! WHY DID THEY MENTION THAT NOW??? Cause of Obama... LMAO!!!

"Ay, Nigga Barack!!! Juss wait till you get into da big house... it's on!!! Be breakin Bill Clinton records an sh*t! Hahahahaaaa"

@ REACT,

okay, how about "A Pimp Named Rev. Goodlove"

Barack Obama said: "When elected president, my first presidential act would be to make the young lady known as 'Obama Girl' as my personal assistant as a way of thanking her for all her support during my campaign."

Obama-Girl.... hmmmmmmm.... that sh*t is a scandal waiting to happen! You see how Barack was trynna keep from smiling with his wife next to him??? HAHAHAHAHA. He's gotta be all, "Honey, it's just a silly girl who's excited about politics. Come on!"

Now THATS motivation right there, ya heard!

Bigup2bk says...

This fool has been indoctrinated with racist anti american rhetoric from the white mans educational system and he doesnt even know it.he benefited and prospers under the white mans system that he despises because of the impact that "militant uncle Toms" made.what a joke, and what a hypocrite.

@Kush

I don't hate MY people. Perhaps we use two different definitions of who our people are. LOL!

Man, any attempt to catergorize me on this blog is a waste. All my role models are black men. I never date outside my race. Despite living a legitimate life for the past decade I still refrain from talking to police for any matter. I live in an all black neighborhood. I receive at least 6 calls a month from lifelong friends doing hard time all over the country in the federal system. Some of my friends have made national news headlines as I once did. So tell me Kush, how did I get to where I'm at ideologically? That's why I said you assume too much. How conservative can I be if I want Obama to win and he's a Democrat?

Here's my deal. I know the hood all too well so I don't buy into the bullsh!t. I've been all over the country kicking up dust in MANY hoods. For a long time I was part of the problem on a sunstantial level so I speak as an INSIDER not someone glued to CNN. LOL!

I love black people but I've come to the conclusion there's a portion of our community who serve no purpose other than to make things bad for everyone else. We have to give them an ultimatum. Change your ways if you want our support or you're on your own. There's no two ways about it. That group expects us to run to their aid simply because they're black no matter what they did wrong. I don't suggest we outright turn our backs on them but there should be stipulations that come with our help and support. I don't think that's asking for too much. Is it? What's wrong with making people earn WHATEVER the receive? They'll appreciate it more. I guarantee that.

I'm out for the day. Peace to all.

This fool has been indoctrinated with racist anti american rhetoric from the white mans educational system and he doesnt even know it.
