Popular turntablist DJ Green Lantern spoke to Rhapsody in regards to MTV’s “Hottest MCs†list:
"I hate using the word 'hot.' What the hell do you mean 'hot'? Popular? Relevant? Talented? Be specific. I see what it is, which is an attention-getting thing for MTV. Alright look, everybody look over here and comment. I’ve been in this game so f*ck*ng long, I’m not about to have a heated argument over whether Jay-Z or Lil Wayne should be number two or number three. They’re all very successful. I just love the fact that motherf*ck*ng Andre 3000 is on that list. He’s hot to me ‘cause he’s a super-lyrical dude. Sh*t, I would’ve put Devin the Dude on there."
50 told MTV:
"I shouldn't even be on that list. To be honest, I shouldn't even be categorized with them [other MCs on the list]. It doesn't even matter. Look at the people who are actually creating the list. None of them have made a hit record or [borne] the pressure of doing it.
“Not necessarily the artists now. Artists who have previously created hit records, that understand the art form. You got a bunch of people who, because they interviewed rappers, they feel that they know. Because they read XXL or The Source. They don't understand."
Green Lantern said this list (that they’re obviously aiming to push annually) is an attention-grabbing mechanism. But I look at it as something to brush off your shoulder. Why is this stupid list deemed arguable and valid? Because it’s coming from the staff of MTV? Some of who don’t even have any say on what goes on in there? Riiiiiiiiiiight. That makes a lot of sense.
This whole “Hottest MCs in the Game†is a joke. Some of those artists aren’t even “MCs,†but "rappers." This is why random people need not to be formulating the grounds for debate; they don’t even know what they’re arguing.
I don’t care about what artists did or did not make the list. Just change the list to “The Hottest RAPPERS in the Game†for next time.
My only issue with the list was that it included Rick Ross...The fact that he was #4 overall was the most ridiculous sh*t I've ever seen!
man those list are crazy. i mean they pick like one hit wonders for most of the list . plus why the hell do they allways pick andre 3000 to fit in the list??? when was the last hit he had?? plus he doesnt belong in their anyway.and one of the dudes try to put soulja boy on that list, haa i mean really i know they try to pick the hottest songs that hit the charts during the past year. but over all they need to put in the top 10 the rappers who done and work and lot and made REAL songs in the past 5 years and pick the ones who get the most props and love.that list is a itch that keeps killing hip hop.

Lupe – A real lyrical MC – almost a throw back to when you had to have skill to where the title of a MC
Rhymefest – He is another Chicago MC with really strong Lyrics. Cats don’t like him because his sound scan numbers sucks (What idiots).
Cassidy – He is a fuckin lyrical beast! He is the best free styler in the game bar none.
Beans: Beans flow always reminded me of Cube. Plus Beans is hustler that doesn’t have to tell you he hustles which is the mark of a true hustler.
Black Thought – This kid is one of the most underrated MC’s of all times. He has always been a problem on the mic. One of the dopest niggas of his time.
Jadakiss – I mean come on- this kid is ill.
Styles P – He crazy; sun! Styles has always been a problem
Nas – No comment needed you already know
Jay Z – No comment needed – you already know
Ice Cube – No comment needed – you already know
The Game – He really is a good MC. He is such an @sshole at times that it makes not like him as an artist but I do this he is talented.
Common – This kid has been consistent for years. A true MC.
Talib – One of Brooklyn last true MC’s.
Wu Tang - f8ck yall – they are still dope!
Outkast – They are creative. F8ck yall – I like those N8ggas.
Immortal Technique – The last conscious hip hop act alive
And that is basically it. Every one else is mediocre to completely sucking @ss.
So I mean really that is it for me. Real Hip Hop is dead and has been for about 10 to 15 years now.

No, I didn't read it but I have to and will read it. Thanks for the referral. And as you and I both know Wayne is not the best rapper alive. Everyone on my list is a better rapper than Wayne. However where I think Wayne is unique and deserves alot of credit is the he is original. He has his own lane.
I mean Gillie tried to say that Wayne bit his sh*t but Gillie sucks. They try pushing him here in Philly (where I lay my head from Sunday through Thursday) on their local radio stations but he is weak. If anything he sounds like he is swagger jacking Wayne.
Anyway; I give Wayne credit just because he is original and he has a hunger. And I don't believe that he sucks as an MC. I think that he is ok as an MC and mainly because he one of the few cats who do have his own unique lane.
Anyway; he is not one of my favorite cats but he is ok but him being that greatest rapper alive sh8t is some straight bullsh*t. He may be the most popular rapper in America alive but that is the best I can give him.
I think when these networks come up with these "hottest" lists they are talking about who's hot at the moment. Not necessarily all time greats. I personally think I would need to compile a top 20 or so. Lakers goin to the finals!!

The list should really be titled "MTV's 2008 MC's Whose Dicks We're Going to Suck This Year"

I don't get a chance to watch much TV. I make time in my schedule to watch sports because I am a sports addict. I also love the National Sunday Morning News shows but just about eveything else I catch on you tube.
Right now traveling between Philly and BK has almost totally eliminated me having any real time at home to chill, relax and watch TV.

McClellan was one of the president’s earliest and most loyal political aides, and most of his friends had expected him to take a few swipes at his former colleague in order to sell books but also to paint a largely affectionate portrait.

Instead, McClellan’s tone is often harsh. He writes, for example, that after Hurricane Katrina, the White House “spent most of the first week in a state of denial,†and he blames Rove for suggesting the photo of the president comfortably observing the disaster during an Air Force One flyover. McClellan says he and counselor to the president Dan Bartlett had opposed the idea and thought it had been scrapped.

But he writes that he later was told that “Karl was convinced we needed to do it — and the president agreed.â€

“One of the worst disasters in our nation’s history became one of the biggest disasters in Bush’s presidency. Katrina and the botched federal response to it would largely come to define Bush’s second term,†he writes. “And the perception of this catastrophe was made worse by previous decisions President Bush had made, including, first and foremost, the failure to be open and forthright on Iraq and rushing to war with inadequate planning and preparation for its aftermath.â€

McClellan, who turned 40 in February, was press secretary from July 2003 to April 2006. An Austin native from a political family, he began working as a gubernatorial spokesman for then-Gov. Bush in early 1999, was traveling press secretary for the Bush-Cheney 2000 campaign and was chief deputy to Press Secretary Ari Fleischer at the beginning of Bush’s first term.

“I still like and admire President Bush,†McClellan writes. “But he and his advisers confused the propaganda campaign with the high level of candor and honesty so fundamentally needed to build and then sustain public support during a time of war. … In this regard, he was terribly ill-served by his top advisers, especially those involved directly in national security.â€

In a small sign of how thoroughly McClellan has adopted the outsider’s role, he refers at times to his former boss as “Bush,†when he is universally referred to by insiders as “the president.â€

McClellan lost some of his friends in the administration last November when his publisher released an excerpt from the book that appeared to accuse Bush of participating in the cover-up of the Plame leak. The book, however, makes clear that McClellan believes Bush was also a victim of misinformation.

The book begins with McClellan’s statement to the press that he had talked with Rove and Libby and that they had assured him they “were not involved in … the leaking of classified information.â€

At Libby’s trial, testimony showed the two had talked with reporters about the officer, however elliptically.

“I had allowed myself to be deceived into unknowingly passing along a falsehood,†McClellan writes. “It would ultimately prove fatal to my ability to serve the president effectively. I didn’t learn that what I’d said was untrue until the media began to figure it out almost two years later.

“Neither, I believe, did President Bush. He, too, had been deceived and therefore became unwittingly involved in deceiving me. But the top White House officials who knew the truth — including Rove, Libby and possibly Vice President Cheney — allowed me, even encouraged me, to repeat a lie.â€

McClellan also suggests that Libby and Rove secretly colluded to get their stories straight at a time when federal investigators were hot on the Plame case.

“There is only one moment during the leak episode that I am reluctant to discuss,†he writes. “It was in 2005, during a time when attention was focusing on Rove and Libby, and it sticks vividly in my mind. … Following [a meeting in Chief of Staff Andy Card’s office], … Scooter Libby was walking to the entryway as he prepared to depart when Karl turned to get his attention. ‘You have time to visit?’ Karl asked. ‘Yeah,’ replied Libby.

“I have no idea what they discussed, but it seemed suspicious for these two, whom I had never noticed spending any one-on-one time together, to go behind closed doors and visit privately. … At least one of them, Rove, it was publicly known at the time, had at best misled me by not sharing relevant information, and credible rumors were spreading that the other, Libby, had done at least as much. …

“I frequently stumbled along the way,†McClellan acknowledges in the book’s preface. “My own story, however, is of small importance in the broad historical picture. More significant is the larger story in which I played a minor role: the story of how the presidency of George W. Bush veered terribly off course.â€

The racial tension between Black and Jews that exploded in the New York City neighborhood of Crown Heights in 1991 has resurfaced with a vengeance. In recent weeks, a Black man was severely beaten, and an Orthodox Jewish teen was attacked. The latter incident prompted Jewish residents to hit the streets with signs like “Jewish blood is not cheap!†and “Every Jew a .22,†The Associated Press reports. The DA called a Jewish street patrol a bunch of vigilantes and likened them to the Bloods and Crips street gangs. “One small incident could escalate into something beyond our grasp,†Richard Green, head of the Crown Heights Youth Collective, told AP.

He says the collective encourages people “to interact instead of react.†Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly has been in Crown Heights recently trying to suppress violence. The young girl who allegedly appears in a sex video with R. Kelly visited the R&B star's recording studio regularly, did her homework there and once brought an overnight bag, Kelly's former personal assistant testified Tuesday.
Lindsey Perryman, now a recording company executive, said she met the girl at Chicago Trax Recording Studio one night in 1999 as the girl arrived with her parents and brother.
"She had a pillow and an overnight bag with her," Perryman said.
The girl "would come there after school and do her homework," Perryman said.
Prosecutors contend the girl appears in a 27-minute video depicting her engaged in sex acts with Kelly. The 41-year-old R&B singer is charged with child pornography and has pleaded not guilty.
The girl, born in 1984, would have been 14 for most of 1999. Prosecutors contend the tape was made between 1998 and 2000.
Perryman, 27, worked for Kelly off and on from 2000 to 2006. Her duties ranged from picking up meals to acting as liaison between the singer and his record label. Sometimes she would pick the girl up at school, she testified.
Perryman, who said she thinks "so highly of Mr. Kelly and his family," nonetheless identified the female in the videotape as the underage girl and the man on the tape as Kelly.
Under cross-examination by defense lawyer Marc Martin, Perryman admitted she could not identify either of them the first time she saw the tape.
"I was in shock. I wanted to be 100 percent sure" before making the identifications, Perryman said.
Earlier Tuesday, another witness seemed to confuse the prosecution's chronology by testifying the girl had braces on her teeth after the videotape was made.
Tjada Burnett, a friend of the alleged victim's family, said the alleged victim had braces after the time the sex tape was made.
But defense lawyer Sam Adam Jr. showed jurors a photo of the alleged victim -- looking younger than the one on the sex tape -- wearing braces.
Later Tuesday, prosecutors showed a 1998 music video featuring the alleged victim in which she has no braces. The girl appeared in the video while part of a singing group with other family members.
One member of the group, Bennie Edwards Jr., testified the female in the sex video "favored" his relative, and that the man "favored" Kelly. But under cross-examination, Edwards admitted he wasn't certain about the identifications.
Also Tuesday, state's attorney investigator Alexandra Guerrero testified about photographs she took of a mural in a basketball court at Kelly's former North Side home. Based on the movie "Space Jam," the mural shows Kelly playing basketball against the cartoon Tasmanian Devil while Michael Jordan referees. In the stands sit other Looney Tunes characters, including Yosemite Sam, Elmer Fudd, and Foghorn Leghorn -- who holds a sign reading "Go R. Kelly!"

I'm back. I am done with the incompetent stan. However there are a couple posts that did strike my interest; the first one is the McClellan post. Man; the whole Rove-Bush Neo-conservative doctrine of “we will make every one in the world bow to us through our military force and then rob them blind of their resources†was actually hatched up by Rove in 1996. McClellan was a kool aid drinker who didn't know any better until they showed him the real agenda. This was also so true of Colin Powell. They had no idea of the true agenda of Rove, Bush, Cheyney and Rumsfeld so they were simply pawns who were made to lie and push some bullsh*t that was allergic to their soul and very being. To their credit this is why they both resigned. Bush totally wrecked Colin Powell's legacy.
The seocnd post was the Jewish- Black coalition thing - that struck my interest as well. I think that Farrakhan described that relationship so accurately and he did it with one sentence. As he said “The Black –Jewish relationship is a Landlord –Tenant Relationship and they are lanlord and we are the tenant.†He is right. People present this so-called coalition as if there has been a long friendly and equitable relationship and that is not the case. ATLANTA -- A new cable news channel concentrating on African-Americans will be carried in Atlanta.
Black Television News Channel signed an agreement with Comcast to show BTNC in Atlanta, Philadelphia, Washington and Baltimore.
APPLY: For Jobs At BTNC
BTNC is the brainchild of former U.S. congressman J.C. Watts.
"Our unique and vast content partnerships with African American newsmakers will provide our viewers live access to the stories and people in whom our viewers have a special interest," said Watts. "With this agreement, Comcast continues to demonstrate its commitment to working with independent programmers with diverse points of view."
Watts said BTNC will be a 24 hours a day, seven days a week "news network providing original news programming with a distinctly African-American perspective." Its headquarters will be in Washington, D.C. and is scheduled to launch in early 2009.
At least one news report on the new channel called Watts the "black Ted Turner," after the founder of CNN.

I often wonder how such an overtly pro black BLACK woman could raise a son who went that way. Makes you wonder what was discussed in that household. Before someone harps on that, let me say I don't necessarily feel that's wrong but it lacks consistency and makes me ask why?
Harry Belafonte is the same. He talks that talk but his kids marry outside the race. There's a pattern of highly intelligent and successful black people, regardless of ideology assimilating their GENE pool. If they don't do it themselves their offspring surely do it. I can't really see myself having children with someone outside my race because I want my kids to look like me.
People get excited about the most surface level things. I don't know of any black owned publishing houses or publishers except Ebony and dig deep enough and we might get a surprise there. LOL!
That's not a knock for the hypersensitive racialist on here, that's just a harsh reality.
I think there's only one of two options. 1. Find a way to make the system work in our favor or 2. Separate ourselves completely.
Any talk of using the system to strengthen us to take on the system is laughable and I don't know how we can go about option 2 without a homeland, language or culture to call our own.

I totally agree. Man; if I wasn't on this blog I would tell you some other stuff that 100 % supports and endorse every word you said about Cathy and the Hughes Family. Noticed I called her Cathy. She is one of the biggest and most loyal Republicans in the country. You wouldn't know that by her public acting job. It is just what you do when you are your 20’s. I still do it….lol. I look at BKB and say “that is my dude†because I see him as I was like 5 years ago when I was 26 years old. We are very much alike. I agree with many of his views but I am not sure if he completely understand your views because I know I sure didn’t….lol….but I have a better understanding now.
I have learn with you that you have to look at the issue you are stating fully and not quickly react. Once you told me your true beef with the NOI, I immediately got it. I didn’t before because I was looking at it from a different view point but once you helped me adjust me lenses so that I could see your perspective then I got it.

Do you know why I really come on here? It's to provoke thought and expose young bros to other possibilities NOT force my ideology on them. Being a father made me aware of the influence hip hop has on our youth and I became concerned. My son is 17 and he graduates this year. I received custody 4yrs ago. I'm HARD on him but with a PURPOSE. Fortunately, he responds well.
I'm proud of him. I know what you mean about young dudes not getting it. I lived well beyond my years so I have the experience they do not. I'm giving the game up for FREE so it won't take as long for the youth I come into contact with to get to where I am mentally.
Somehow MY perspective always becomes the issue because I'm asked certain questions meant to provide insight on my thoughts. Dudes wanna get in my head and sometimes I let them get a glimpse. I'm a strategist Bigup. I told you before I only had one job on the books my entire life and that lasted 2yrs. Even now, I am an independent contractor. I live on my wits and balls. I ain't never been scared to bet on ME. My every move, thought, word is calculated. I KNOW it's not a game out here.
I don't hate Tupac but I use him the same way you use 50. I'm sure you don't give 2 sh!ts about 50 but you see him as an iconic figure leading the youth in the wrong direction so you go right at the source. Because I'm older Tupac represents the same thing to me that 50 does to you. I was around him on a couple occassions and I know people who were close to him. I'm aware of things people who listen to his music don't know.
I discourage the worship of ANY man. Even a righteous one, much less some modern day minstrel prancing around on stage for pennies on the dollar.
I see that as a problem with our people. We are encouraged to pin our hopes on everything and everyone but OURSELVES. I don't like that. We're always looking to someone to save the day. It ain't happening.
Brooklyn B was correct. I do go harder at blacks. Not because I despise my people but because I am more affected by their choices and actions. What poor whites in W.Va do have very little bearing on me so I am not concerned but the behavior and actions of young blacks can cause or be the excuse for a cop to treat my young black son as a common criminal if ever they cross paths so I speak up NOW rather than later.
People don't like what Bill Cosby says but Bill has donated in the neighborhood of 50 million of his own money to historically black Universities and to programs assisting inner-city students. Whether you agree with him or not he's earned the right to say his piece. There are people who we give that right too who haven't done a damn thing but use our predicament to their own personal advantage yet we love them and uphold them as leaders. If Bill truly hated blacks he wouldn't have given that money. He's old and frustrated and don't know what else to do to change things. He could be like Berry Gordy and take his Millions and fade to black but he doesn;t and negroes still talk sh!t.
Lastly, over the wknd I met a black Red Cross volunteer. He descussed the different responses for black and white areas that suffer from natural disasters. After outlining the differences which were vast, he then shared his thoughts on why it happens. At first I said oh boy, here we go but surprisingly he pointed out that he's only met one other black volunteer in all his years of volunteering and that black donations are practically nonexistent. He said some other interesting things but it comes down to the same thing all the time. You get out what you put in. There's no gimmes in this world. Sometimes you're not even guaranteed to get back what you put in much less if you put in nothing. I know some will say what about slavery and I'll say is don't hold your breath.
I try to share these principles with people who desperately need to learn them.
If you think education is expensive just try ignorance.
AN INSPIRATIONAL EXPERIENCE, AS WELL AS A CONVICTING ONE
As busy as work has been this week, I took time off today to attend the commencement exercises of CUNY/Baruch College which was held at Madison Square Garden (a friend's daughter was graduating). Although they made up a minority, I took a look at the many young Black men and women who were graduating among their White, Jewish, and Asian peers and I was simply floored. Just to look at their sense of accomplishment was worth more than money. And to hear the faculty address them as young adults who have been equipped to take their place and make a difference in history was exhilarating.
As proud as I was for them all (and their families), I felt such conviction for the many, many, many young Black men and women who have been deprived of such a rich experience.
Our modern-day minstrel shows exist because people have not been intellectually nourished and challenged - the way a college career would do (even just 4 years of undergrad).
There were a few things in particular that stood out for me at that ceremony.

Food for thought I see. I was on myspace last night and there is a meeting going on about the Sean Bell murder this week. It is taking place at a Church in Downtown Brooklyn. The objective is to determine if a special prosecutor is needed in this case and other similar ones. Eric Adams, co-founder of 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement, is scheduled to attend. I'm sure other notable figures will be there as well. I'm gonna go back online and get the exact address and name of the church and post it here later on. Peace!

I skipped over that article because maybe in the back of my brain i was thinking that that would be the next step anyway.
In fact,i was surprised that they didnt use WMD's in the first place.
There were reports that troops were coming home with all kinds of medical problems do to "the air" in iraq during 01.
So i found it rather peculiar that they didnt use WMD's in the first place,being that they all were supposedly linked up with Iraq.
I use my own common sense.
Do people realize how easier it is to use WMD's here rather than guide two airplanes into two buildings???
Hint: look at whats going on with our borders....
Theres definately something going on with the powers that be but since i dont fully understand the mechanics and logic behind their plans for this world(because im not in the inner circle)i've decided to stop judging them before the picture becomes more clearer to me.
I do know that theres a concern about the worlds nations not being on the same page,and over-population.
I also think that there is an arrogant,elitist attitude that may or may not be justified.
Im young and still learning like every other human being is.

Stretch's death had nothing to do with Tupac. I don't believe in coincidences but his murder 1yr to the day after the attack on Pac at Quad was actually a coincidence. LOL!
Stretch and his boys who called themselves the "Young Guns" were engaged in a local beef with some dudes from Hollis. Older dudes who were in prison and came home to a new order and didn't like what they saw. That beef saw real drama comparable to any Boyz n the Hood movie. Dudes were getting tore up with AK's by people wearing disguises and in drive-bys. Rumor has it Stretch was killed in a late night car chase where somebody was banging at him out a car window with an AK that caused his MPV to crash and turn over. It was like the wild wild west. When dudes like Kush City talk about gangbanging what they don't realize is that hood beefs go on all over the world. LA didn't invent that. They just incorporated those silly rags but it's the same lame story.
I don't know for a fact who did what but I doubt you have to look any further than that little hood to get the answers.
Stretch became a target because he was the one who could take the YG's to the next level with his entertainment ties. Not only that but real street dudes don't like entertainers getting involved in their drama. The entertainer almost always becomes a primary target just to teach everyone a lesson and to hurt everyone who relied on them.
Bottom line, dudes felt Stretch was fronting and by hurting him it would be a major blow to their adversaries. And they were right. After Stretch's death that crew became like a rudderless ship. E Money Bags rap career (if you can call it that) took him on a path that cost him his life. That fool was smashed listening to his new demo in Prodigy's truck. If he had been paying attention to his surroundings like he should he would've gotten a chance to fire his own weapon that he never got to in time.
Pac was such a fraud he encouraged people to believe he had something to do with Stretch's death the same way 50 encouraged people to believe he had something to do with Hommo's death. 50 is a virtual carbon copy of Tupac. He studied Pac and learned from his mistakes. These rap clowns are the biggest impostors, impersonators, delusional actors you'd ever wanna meet.
BTW, I believe Stretch was foul with Pac. Maybe it was justified but I can't see how. Pac was a big mouth punk who smoked too much weed and started believing his own press clippings. Believe it or not 50 is just a tad bit more street certified than Pac who had no street props. 50 is also much smarter and disciplined than Pac. 50 knows he's a punk so he stay's insulated. That damn weed had Pac thinking he was a G and it cost him. I bet he was high the night he got smashed.
