A lot of people would not have expected this out of Alicia, but if you look at a lot of her interviews and hear a lot of the things she's said, she has an old soul. So while I was kind of taken aback with this particular conversation she had with Blender Magazine, at the same time I'm really not. But a lot of people are surprised, and are calling her "an idiot" for making these kinds of remarks.
-------> “Gangsta rap was a ploy to convince black people to kill each other. Gangsta rap didn’t exist.â€
I can't co-sign that statement. Not with "angry black men" such as Ice Cube inking rhymes for N.W.A. If you listen to a lot of gangsta music, they weren't only rapping about what they were seeing in the streets of L.A; the lyrics in the music-- particularly "F*ck Tha Police"-- provided encouragement to fight (and kill) the enemy. To add to Alicia's statement, however, a lot of people say the late gangsta rapper Eazy-E was purposely injected with HIV via the request of the angry FBI and others behind the scenes. Others say he was just getting around. But at the same time, at least eight of the women he had relations with were said to have tested negative for the virus. That doesn't mean everything he was hitting got tested, either. But still, the question remains.
Alicia then went on to say that the deaths of The Notorious B.I.G and 2Pac were carried out “by the government and the media, to stop another great black leader from existing.â€
I'm here nor there. But why haven't both murders been solved? Why haven't a LOT of hip-hop murders been solved?
From where has Alicia's new way of thinking evolved?
Keys, 27, said she’s read several Black Panther autobiographies and wears a gold AK-47 pendant around her neck “to symbolize strength, power and killing ’em dead."

Nimrod,
What do you think of this?
DRE GUEVERRA IS A MONKEY MOUTH MAN MILK GULPER.
Why G-Unot Killa begins his day with hate will always be a mystery to me. Alicia Keys is a ryder for sure though!!
You need to step your sock game up G-Unot Killa before i send your ass back to the motherland. Get at me, Im back niggas.
Peace Reckless - Ahh seems like Alicia Keys agrees with me regarding Biggie and Pac and governmental intervention. Maybe she read my comments on SOHH NYC….lol.
Look, music and its content are dangerous and must be monitored by all world governments. This is because music communicates with the masses of the people and especially oppressed people and it influences behavior. My intelligence and judgment were questioned when I suggested that there were some government intervention in the Tupac killing but I seriously think that people are too trusting of the government and have short memory about her past evil deeds.
Anyway music can excite and agitate. These people have the finest psychologist and sociologists the western hemisphere has to offer. Also they know the danger music impose on a society. This is why some nations band western music all together. If you look at Toussaint Overture and Dessaline in Haiti it was the drums that spearheaded the beginning of the slave revolt. It was what people call these ole Negro spirituals that spearheaded escapes and land navigation during the era of American institution of physical slavery (because the mental still exists). The government and FBI both had files on many artists and actors during the 60’s and 70’s.
So I am always amazed who people on the blog who are clearly intelligent are so dismissive of the idea that there is governmental intervention in an Billion dollar economic entity the Black male’s participation is dominate and their influence on both white and Black children and young adults is immeasurable. So anyway, I am not getting back into that argument but I do believe that government and particularly this one still engage in covert assassinations and the assassinations of those individuals who have immeasurable influence over Black youth who has always been the policy of America to suppress.
This is why Black males making up only 6 percent of the population represent more that 44 present of America’s prison. This is why in New York City 54 percent of Black males between the ages of 18 and 59 are unemployed. This is why less than 48 percent of Black males graduate high school in 4 years. This is why Black males are the leading cohort in terms of victimization as it relates to both violent crimes and homicide. So for me to look at America’s most engaged species and troubled group - and to look at those who communicate and are influential of the behavior are not under the watchful eye and are exempt from government assassination to me is ridiculous. I bet you all those Black Panthers like Assata Shakur would Geronimo Prat probably also think that it is ridiculous.
Now Reckless I agree with your NWA comment. NWA initially was really the West Coast response to Public Enemy. There lyrics at times were coonish and misogynist but they also were political at times as well. However both NWA and PE were controlled by Jews as are these cats today are controlled by Jews. And conscious Hip Hop can’t get a sniff of primetime urban radio and definitely not on these white oriented top 40 stations.
So yes, I believe that this so-called Gangsta rap today does have a very ominous intent behind and believe the puppet master behind all of this are Jews. However that is an argument and topic that most Blacks don’t want to touch because they are scared as hell of Jews.
Anyway, Alicia is a critical and analytical thinker. She went out there on the edge but she knows the spirit of the truth it not the truth and its totality on this position. It amazes me how our women always step up to plate and lay out and so called hard rappers and I have to say it like HOV (sorry Brooklyn), 50, Puff, Nelly, Lil Wayne, Game and some other commercially successfully artists who are financially secured for life who too cowardly to tell the truth. Big up to Alicia Keys maybe some od these popular N*ggas who have gotten fat off our ignorance will one day find the courage to speak up on real issues and tell the truth even if it is going to make white folks and Jews mad at them. One can only hope that one day that day will come but don’t hold your breath.
Great Blog today, Reckless
Peace to the real – yall know who you are

Honestly, what is your purpose for this at this point?

Yeah i am sure that you are right? Just like the Tuskegee Experiment was BS. Just like the Government trafficking Cocaine in South Central, LA was BS. I am sure there is no basis at all for Black people to be weary of the Government. They are all nuts for being so distrustful of the government.
@ Bigup2BK
Wattsup, breh.
With all possible anonymous-blogger respect, I'd have to very strongly disagree with you (and Ms. Keys') conspiracy theory that Big and Pac's murders were government related. I mean, come on!
You wrote: "Look, music and its content are dangerous and must be monitored by all world governments. I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WORSE WITH THIS BLOG...
(1) That this is what we have for a topic (an R&B chick's half-assed theories)
(2) The artists formerly known as G Unot Killa reprising his role and sh*tting on the blog so early in the day...
(3) Or that anyone would actually buy into that conspiracy theory at all.
MY VERY BRIEF REBUTTAL IS THIS (I'm shocked that I even have to address this, but...)
- What kind of "leaders" were Big and Pac ever going to become, except for has-been rappers touring Europe well past their prime? What kind of social uprising did they ever insight, or even hint at with their music?
(If anything, the government should've kept them niggaz on life-support because they were doing much more harm than good to the Black culture.)
- If the government was ever really interested or intimidated by a socially-active rapper, why is Chuck D still alive??? Did either Big or Pac ever have such critical records directed at the government (and so many of them at that)???
No diss fam, but this is all some BULLSH*T and a waste of time... a waste of one of the most popular blogs on the net... and a waste of your typically logical and intelligent commentaries, mayne!
Oh, and Alicia still look good though! (She can believe in little green men from Mars, for all I care. She can still get it!)
Hey Gunot killa. Don't get mad cuz fif said you off the label after June. You wasting time and energy on this blog. You washed up nigga. I was the guy in the Gunot shirt on 4/8/08/ I aint seen non of you niggas. Man up and make another time to meet and I'll find yo bitch ass.
@ Bigup2bk
Trust me when I say that I'm not deceived by the government and all of its institutions. There are certain assertions of secretive government foulplay that I adhere to. (In fact, I heard even Oprah of all people is doing a program on how the government tried to sterilize Black parents in the wellfare system many years ago.)
But there is still a logical base as to WHY the government would do some of these evil deeds. They want something or are intimidated by something.
When it comes to government's evil intentions against Blacks and other minorities, GANGSTA RAP IS JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED!!! All of those coons are fulfilling the government's would-be intended purpose against the Black culture.
Tell me that the White and Jewish record execs are purposely exploiting the Black artists to promote a negative stereotype of Blacks in the public's perception. That makes perfect sense from their end. BUT WHAT TYPE OF THREAT DID BIG AND PAC POSE???
Sometimes I believe we point to conspiracy theories either because we need excuses or we need a more interesting scenario than the truth. But the fact of the matter is Big and Pac were killed for obvious reasons (the bad mix of crime, money, egos, and music). And their murders have not been solved for even more obvious reasons (the anti-snitch code). Case closed. Now back to mundane reality.
The answer is simple - no snitching.
Thats the culture of the hood and thats why these murders dont get solved. Jay got killed and there were 9 (!) witnesses, nobody saw anything - right.
Busta Rhymes shooting, dozens and dozens of EYE WITNESSES - nobody saw anything.
Then those fools go around and say DA POLICE DONT CARE - the truth is that you don't cooperate to BRING THE MURDERER OF YOUR HOMIE TO JAIL - where murderers belong, no?
2Pac shooting, how many witnesses again? How many did cooperate though?
There you go. Alicia Keys is fuckign stupid. Easy E was a moron, fucking around and he died. Thats it.
Peace to Brother React:
See this is where I think people miss the boat. You don’t have to be a leader to be a target of the government all you have to do is be influential of the masses of oppress people. Tupac made a song in which a cop was murdered and the murder suspect’s defense (which was BS) was that Tupac’s song influenced him. Tupac was also the off spring of the Black Panther who the government said that they would not rest into they were destroyed the Panthers completely.
Now was Tupac a high priority for government assassination; no. He was way down and off the radar in terms of governmental priorities. However if the environment is right (and it was with this East Coast – West Coast) then they will move forward with and facilitate the hit. Does this mean they actually did the shooting? No. However it does mean that they prep the environment and make it riper for the spirit of murder to creep in and ultimately eliminate the target.
And you know that the FBI had files on James Baldwin, Langston Hughes, Paul Robeson and many more. I mean if I told you 45 years ago that the government Tuskegee experiment policy you would say that I was crazy. Would you have believed Assata Shakur's story. And if there is not a conspiracy how do you explain all of these ominious numbers regarding Black males.
Further (back to music) why did South Africa band Stevie Wonder’s music during the apartheid era. Make no mistake about it - the world governments monitor all of the arts. They would be fools not too. I would if I was a leader in Gov't. Art influences the behaivor of the masses. It is malpratice from a gov't perspective not to monitor it.
Correction:
Tupac was also the off spring of a member f the Black Panther. The government is on record as saying that they would not rest until the panthers were destroyed.
@ React:
I think Biggie's Hit was straight up due to Suge police are the Gov't - but i know - I want punk out like that - we are talking about the big boys; the fed gov't. I don't believe that the feds killed Biggie. I believe the LAPD killed Biggie.
Also I don’t think that Tupac was a priority but I do believe he was an opportunity that fell in the gov’t's lap and they went with it. They made the environment perfect for murder to happen. I believe they intervene so that it could happen.
Sorry again - rushing - correction
@ React:
I think Biggie's Hit was straight up due to Suge and police corruption. Now the police are the Gov't - but i know - I want punk out like that - we are talking about the big boys; the fed gov't. I don't believe that the feds killed Biggie. I believe the LAPD killed Biggie.
LET'S PLAY DEVIL'S ADVOCATE
@ BigUp2BK
Nuff respect, Black.
Alright, I'll be the evil government for a second. Let's take the murders of Big and Pac. Please tell me...
(1) What makes those 2 standout from a host of other rappers that had much more critical and inflammatory records against our institutions.
(2) How I went about creating the beef between the two artists. Did I pay off one to fire the first shot at the other? Was I involved in Pac's studio stabbing that seemed to have escalated the situation? What propaganda did I use to make thugs from the two entire coasts to have animosity against one another?
(3) How did I infiltrate the two camps and then convince their peoples to take out a hit on the other?
(4) Wait, is this all about the "hip hop police"?
When it comes to some of these theories, what people tend to do is take things that actually did happen and automatically assume and/or use them as evidence for everything else. Some of your statements may fall under that category.
For instance, take this quote: "Now was Tupac a high priority for government assassination; no. He was way down and off the radar in terms of governmental priorities."
So, you happen to know that an assassination list of famous Blacks exists? And where Pac ranked on it??? Okay, where did you get this information? Was it in a book or some "official government document" that someone leaked to the hood?
Also: "Further (back to music) why did South Africa band Stevie Wonder’s music during the apartheid era." That's no different to how Communist and Muslim countries censor music that is promotes ideas that are contrary to their beliefs - throw in Cuba, China, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, etc...
But what's the correlation between Stevie Wonder (of all people) and the murders of 2 gangsta rappers???
I love Alicia Keys. I admire her willingness to address such controversy. I think gangsta rap has been allowed to prosper because it has been an undeniable destructive to our progress as a people.
I will never believe the government was involved with the deaths of either Biggie or Tupac. People who believe that have fallen into the trap of equating rappers with historical figures which shows tremendous ignorance.
Conspiracies need not be micro managed to the extreme some suggest. It merely requires understanding of those you seek to manipulate and assisting them in doing what comes natural to them.
By being so PREDICTABLE as a group we've proven to be easily manipulated and steered in the desired direction.
Of course someone will say we're not the only ones who fall for the trap and I'd have to agree. It's just that WE are MY primary concern.
Hip Hop has become overwhelmingly negative but so many us are so caught up in skin color that we stay silent out of fear of being seen as "not down with the movement." People actually see hip hop being synonomous with blackness and view any attacks on it as an attack on blackness.
Nothing could be farther from the truth.
Hip Hop went from something that made you dance and boogie at the summertime BBQ. To something that makes people who don't even know each other argue on internet sites.
-
The powers that be don't want us to uplift, so the artists that have a real message will never come out.
RECKLESS, YOU OUTDID YOURSELF ON THAT ONE...
"To add to Alicia's statement, however, a lot of people say the late gangsta rapper Eazy-E was purposely injected with HIV via the request of the angry FBI and others behind the scenes."
???????????????????????????????
You actually believe that??? That sounds less believable than your standard "alien abduction" story. What, the government scooped him up after a show, took him bound and gagged, and put a syringe in his arm? Then drove him back to the hood and threw him out of a moving vehicle???
How did he know that those goons (allegedly) were Feds? Did they whip out their badges and tell them, "Look here you black nigger you. We're the FBI and we're gonna inject you with HIV because we're afraid you're going to become a leader and run this country one day!"
If you're just bored and are looking for more upsetting scenarios, TRY THE PRICE OF GAS! It's nearly $4/gallon and I'm PISSED! (That's real talk, dawg!)
IGNORANCE IS CONTAGIOUS! Wash your hands before you start blogging on this site!

(1) What makes those 2 standout from a host of other rappers that had much more critical and inflammatory records against our institutions.
Tupac was raised under the Black Panther philosophy. His godfather is Gerinomo Prat. His aunt is Assata Shakur. His record was deemed to be the motivation for a cop killing and he had some skirmish with the cops in Atlanta.
His actions were much more inflammatory than his lyrics. He was not a priority for the gov’t but a headache that if you could remove relatively easy they would and they did.
(2) How I went about creating the beef between the two artists. Did I pay off one to fire the first shot at the other? Was I involved in Pac's studio stabbing that seemed to have escalated the situation? What propaganda did I use to make thugs from the two entire coasts to have animosity against one another?
Again, the above organically happened. Pac accusing Puff and Big of the hit organically happened. However once the foundation was set I believe the government pushed the environment along. They knew he was targeted to be murdered. They knew; exacerbated the conditions and watched the execution of the hit.
(3) How did I infiltrate the two camps and then convince their peoples to take out a hit on the other? Come on you know that is easy; really easy. Too easy. The government have infiltrated foreign nation’s intelligence agencies. Infiltrating Death row and Bad Boys is kids play for them.
(3) Wait, is this all about the "hip hop police"?
I don’t see how they are applicable?
So, you happen to know that an assassination list of famous Blacks exists? And where Pac ranked on it??? Okay, where did you get this information? Was it in a book or some "official government document" that someone leaked to the hood?

There is none. That is a peripheral point to say that World gov’t monitor art and art they don’t agree with they will react too. Again from a gov’t perspective it would be malpractice not too.
And stop acting like you don’t understand peripheral reasoning…lol.

my bad.
I think what is fundamentally at question is people's belief and gov't. I respect these brothers on this blog and I think there are intelligent i also think that they are exceptionally naïve to the role of governmental intelligence agencies and their purpose. They are blind loyalists and followers and to me to do and be that represent an indelible and unrelenting and pervasive ignorance that is as deep and wide as the Atlantic Ocean.
@ Nimrod
Allow me to consolidate your statement for you (into what I think and agree it means to say).
You wrote: "I think gangsta rap has been allowed to prosper because it has been an undeniable destructive to our progress as a people... Conspiracies need not be micro managed to the extreme some suggest. It merely requires understanding of those you seek to manipulate and assisting them in doing what comes natural to them."
Some Black artists chose to act the fool... Record execs who already had a low estimation of Blacks enjoyed the minstrel show and thought it would be great to use it against the Black culture.
But it takes two to tango. Ignorant, stereotypical music wouldn't go anywhere if there were ignorant stereotypical fools that consumed it. And because most of the other cultures desire to emulate the Black culture (Whites, Puerto Ricans - that was for my manz "muscle simmons", etc.) it has become big business to put the Black man in the worst light possible.
There you have it, the origin of Gangsta rap - as long as it is clear that it was CREATED BY BLACKS (a few ignorant and gullible ones at that) and then exploited by others against the Black culture as a whole. None of that "Gangsta rap was created by the government as a ploy... it didn't exist before that" bull-ish!
I'M LATE!
I need to see the entire article before i pass any judgment on the statements however, I feel there is some truth to what she's being quoted as saying. I do believe that music , movies, and videos are somewhat responsible for the images our youth try to emulate. i also feel that Tupac had the potential to be one of the great leaders of our time. There's no telling what he would've been at age 40 or 50. And with his following he may have been able to help people see that most of the bullshit we're out here fighting and dying for isn't worth it.

You know what else, Brother - if you just go into the gov't data base (the one that is open to public) and comb the stas regarding Black males you would have to agree that something is at work that is bigger and more systemic then some of the kool aid drinkers on this blog would have you believe. Any conscious Black man at any level is a threat to the Gov't.

She's right, actually. The money behind Eazy E is what made NWA possible...
Follow the money. The success of NWA opened pandora's box, so to speak. Remember Eazy was invited to Bush's White House?
Eazy was on a leash and as soon as he started causing problems, he was laid to rest.
It sounds crazy, I know, but truth is straner than fiction. What was the perfect counter to the pro black movement that rap was spawning with groups like PE? Music that encourages black folks to destroy themselves. Oh, crack is wack? Well here you go niggers, here's an album full of catchy crack jingles!
Why do you think Cube left the group. He knew waaaaaaaay more than he's letting on. It wasn't just about money. Remember his album title after he left?
The dots are obvious to connect to anyone paying attention. As fans we tend to miss so much of the symbolism in the music and focus on the literal. Music has always been about multiple meanings.
As far as 2Pac, Suge was used to pimp him. Do you think a man like Suge would have been able to breathe in the white corporate world, if he wasn't wanted? C'mon folks. When 2Pac was locked up, he talked about it being the first time he was able to think clearly, being away from the drugs and alcohol. And who do they send to save him? No one thought it was fishy how Suge bought his freedom?
2Pac was on the verge of becoming our next Malcom. He was at his turn around point. He was afraid of power with his first movement, due to all of the government attention and power he wielded at the time (T.H.U.G. L.I.F.E.), but he was determined to make some changes. Well, that was until they sent a lower demon, flamed up, to "save" him.
Anyway, I could go on with this all day, but look at how much Pac knew at a young age. He had a deep knowledge and an old soul. Of course, he wasn't perfect and had plenty of weaknesses, but he had SO much potential. THEY knew that and silenced him.
Pop culture is a distraction used to sedate the masses while the powerful go about their business. It's comparable to a narcotic. Just look at the rap obssessed people on this blog. That's not normal.
There's not a single case of music or art stimulating the masses to revolt. That argument about music inspiring people to oppose the government is full of malarky. Sports and entertainment were devised as an escape from reality and evidently some have receded so far from reality they no longer no longer can tell the difference between fantasy and reality.
I fully understand the government is capable of conspiring against people deemed malcontents and therefore valueless. I just happen to think rap aids that agenda so it doesn't make sense for the government to stop it.
Why do you think so many ignorant people are allowed to amass so much wealth? Who wants to be an architect or lawyer when you can be on TV and famous like flava flav? LOL!
Hip hop has become poison. Right before NWA everyone was on some pro black sh!t. That was 20yrs ago! We've been on a slippery slope since. The negatives of rap outweigh the positive by megatons.
For all those who really believe the government killed Pac or Biggie or Malcolm X or any other unsloved crime involving black people, I want to know what are you prepared to do about it? If I believed as you do I'd be on some serious militant actiivism.
I more believe the government uses our negative qualities against us. That way we destroy ourselves and absolve them of responsibility. They are sophisticated. In other words we play into their hands everytime. Instead of worrying about them why not take responsibility for our own role in our demise. It couldn't happen without our help and participation.
That is truth but not many have the nerve to say that so they become professional apologists for stupidity and ignorance. We're so afraid of splitting the community by calling folks out. I say to hell with the people who don't want to do right. They've become dead weight. It's like the Panthers said. You're either part of the problem or part of the solution. I wonder which one a famous offspring of Panther ideology like Tupac thought he was by promoting "Thug Life" and throwing up "W's."
Lets see who's really naive.
THIS IS ALL BECOMING VAGUE AND AMBIGUOUS...
and it only looks like people are gonna try to top the next dude with their own "conspiracy theory." There's a need to make the main points of this discussion concise and clear.
Allow me to pose a question for all the regs on here, which I believe will help lead to a clear understanding for all:
WHAT IS BLACK POWER?

1) The conspiracies are based on the notion that the government fears and is intimidated by Black Power. What exactly are you conspiracists referring to (or think you're referring to)
2) How do these entertainers weild this "Black Power" to the point that the government has an assassination list of them?
3) Speaking of the Black Panthers, what exactly did they define as "Black Power" / how did they believe it was to be exercised / what constituted as victory in their estimation / and (drum roll please)... was any of it logical/feasible/applicable in society (whether in the 60s or in 2008).
I just want us to lay down the foundation so we can proceed properly.
@Nimrod,
I agree with most of what you're saying, but you're wrong about the government not being active in keeping us in check. I know first hand how drugs come into this country. Believe it or not. I can't speak on it too much, but I've seen the TONS that come in and how they do it. There are billions of dollars put into keeping us violent, drugged up and ignorant.
As far as militant activism, wars aren't planned or won overnight. The strategy now, is education. That's the first phase, an education that counters the gov-sponsored filth that kids are given at so called schools. It's going to take a few generations to make this happen.
People need to realize that this problem can not be solved by violence. The chaos that a physical confrontation would cause, would set us farther back. They win that fight easily.
Easy E never went to the white house. He attended a fundraiser for Rebublicans where Bush spoke. It was a publicity stunt orchestrated by Jerry Heller.
This is the type of fantasy that provides the basis of much of the fantasy involving hip hop's importance to black America. The hardcore fans of rap seem so delusional at times.
How many people believe in the mothership Farrakhan teaches about? He says Elijah isn't dead, he's on the mothership. LOL! He even mentioned the specs of the mothersip being that of the mother plane in the movie "Independence Day." Maybe he should cancel his Netflix subscription. The fool said this at the Million Man March with the whole world watching nonetheless.
I say all of that to say people better be careful of what they accept as truth or risk looking like the fool the world has quietly taken us for, for quite a few centuries now. Stop living down to people's expectations. Enough of this nutty psychobabble! WAKE UP!
I'm out. My flight is about to take off. I hope people start THINKING. Rap is just MUSIC. Stop designating ridiculous relevance to it. It's almost sad watching how easily and effectively some of us have been duped. It's damn near a lost cause.

I'm not coming at this in an argumentative tone or anything like that. But I believe nearly 75% of the conspiracies are clarified when we asks ourselves what that thing really is which we have believed people are trying to shut down.
"What is Black Power?"
Thanks, y'all
I personally think that militancy as a strategy for Black people is idiotic. I think that people are so limited in their vision of how to effectively respond to government oppression that they really have nothing to offer us except ridiculoius solution or conformity and capitulation to oppression. To me to advocate violence against white folks is to put your self right up there with some the world greatest mass murderers because to advocate for people to employ militant tactics againt white folks is to be a proponent of having Black folks killed wholesale.
There are thing that we know are true like in the middle passage the white man killed over 100 million of our people (I am sure everyone is aware of that) but to advocate a militant response against white people makes a person a traitor to black people because in advocating for you to do that is call for our people to killed in numbers untold. So I reject that as an approach and would hope all others would too. It is traitorous to our people to advocate such.
I have repeatedly advocated Black Nationalism. I think Black folks should pool their economic resources and rebuild their communities; influence political elections; make Black colleges stronger and create new ones; provide health care services and awareness to our people; regain farmland; gain control of our arts and create our own media outlets free of white, Jewish and Uncle Tom Negro controlled ; develop and design pedagogical paradigms that don’t enslave us or make us kool aid drinkers of the governmental propaganda; teach men how to be men and women how to be women; engage in international trade; develop Black businesses; create more black law firms and much more.
This to me will effectively make Black folks an international force that can influence both domestic and international policies and not be kool aid drinkers who advocate the mass murder of our people with irrational and reckless proposition such as attacking white folks physically as a response to white and governmental oppression and sponsored governmental assassinations of Black people. I mean you see how eel that turned out when King was killed (smh).

COULD BE ANY MORE VAGUE THAN THAT? That definition could apply to ANYONE. What, which race of group of people isn't trying to educate themselves and better their financial and social status in the world???
Should we also have the terms "Asian Power," "Indian Power," or "Mexican Power"???
Please, I'm not trying to diss but think a bit more deeply on your answer. And you can refer to groups such as the NOI or Black Panthers who have used the same terminology. What did THEY mean and is that what you believe as well?

Reckless accusations devoid of response or counter actions. I respect intellect but what are any of you willing to do to stop the VICTIMIZATION of our people as YOU understand it. Your actions or reactions do not match your conclusions. Are you waiting for N Korea, Iran? The Chinese? I'm sick of black men whining about perceived injustice and/or real injustice. Homey React posed a good question. I would say black power is when us as blacks can behave as we actually are, not as we are programmed to be, ya dig?? When kids DONT have to consider selling drugs or joining a gang AT ALL in their lives.
When ALL of the older generations can encourage, enlighten and protect the community.
Plus, the hood gotta get cleaned up,the blacks with money need to buy the hood back for rebuilding and we gotta stop fuckin up our own lives outta anger.
I think when we can rediscover OUR identity, not the identity they told us to have, then thats black power, because everything starts from there.
Knowledge of self, knowing where u come from. In general, black americans typcially dont dont know anything about our history prior to slavery.
How can anyone expect people to do better, if they dont know any better??
And these crackas (elite establishment) need to apoligize for their transgressions agaisnt our folks, real talk. 350 muthafuckin years of pure bullshit cant be covered up in 40 years. 1607-1968?, and its only 2008!!
We need all our people to grasp the idea that we are descendants of the oppressed, and understand what that means.
We need to stop using that as our excuse to fail, and us it as our reason to succeed. When niggas start thinkin like that, thinkin past the block and the hood and all the bullshit, then we're closer to black power.

You have to first start by showing people who restoration and reparartion is possible by citing the Asians and Jews as examples. Then you must educate them to be and love their Black self and not constantly sh*t on their own people as a solution. Black leaders must come together and preach the gospel of Black Nationalism and everyone must start to preach it and practice it in their homes; religious institution and every day life. That is the kind of revolution i am about. I don't believe in suicide missions. The only one that helps is the undertaker!
I'LL BE BACK TO ANSWER MY OWN QUESTION "WHAT IS BLACK POWER."
But already the first issue seems to be playing itself out (not that everyone has cared to answer). It would seem that many of us who claim Black Power as the reason for the conspiracy theories either CAN'T DEFINE IT or DEFINE IT AS SOMETHING SO GENERAL THAT IT CAN BE APPLIED TO ALMOST ANY CULTURAL GROUP.
That, then, begs the question, "Why do we get all worked up about something we're not certain what it is, or truly exists?" Are some of us simply rebels looking for a cause?
All that still doesn't say that I don't have a definition or interpretation of "Black Power." I'm just trying to expose the holes in some of the popular conspiracy theories against Blacks.
Again, this all started with my disagreement to the notion that 2 rappers were killed by the FBI because of the government's fear of "Black Power" or that they would've become powerful leaders had they remained alive.
Horsesh*t.
LOL @ THE OBVIOUS SAYS...
The answer is simple - no snitching.Thats the culture of the hood and thats why these murders dont get solved.

The Elite of the world are eliminating their competition, period. It started with the Native Americans and Africans and is now expanding to anyone they deem as inferior.
I'd like for a black power movement to arise and correct the problems we face as a people, but a larger problem looms for all people. If you are not in the upper echelon on the species you will be systematically killed by the food you eat, air you breath and water you drink.
The government which is really an enforcer for the true power elite, has a special hard on for black people because of how they were treated in the beginning. Whites were outcast and some have never let go of the hate that they developed for black Africans long ago...

I am sure the 5’s are put right up there with the Nation in terms of your belief system be perceived as screwy and unacceptable to some of kool aid drinkers. I don’t believe Black Republican kool aid drinkers see any value in 5’s or really any Black organization for that matter. Anyway; solutions is what I am after and I think what the 5’s have 2 offers are solutions.

@ Bigup2BK,
True indeed, we offer after school & educational programs 4 the youth, of course those hand picked negroes don't want anything 2 do with us because they only want 2 focus on what they percieve us 2 be, a separatist group, something that we're not.
@ Dre G:
I know and that is the plan. The approach is to blame Black people for everything. Blame them for white oppression. Blame them Malcolm X'd death. Blame the victim for being a victim.
Also De-value their leaders, cultural icons, culture in general, grass root organizations and surpress their anger to white oppression. Make their leaders appear to be crazy or crooks and con-artists. Do this so that people will not concetrate on their message of Black economic and empowerment. Purposely mix personality with principle so that you blurr the lines for people and after you get them to submit to your garbage give them absolutely NO solutions.
This is the job of the Black Republican. What the 5's have done for countless numbers of our people is honorable I have love for the 5's (now i am sure some one will make me a five). I have love for farrakhan and the Nation. I have love for the New black Panther PArty. I have love for the NAACP. I have love for the Urban League. I have love for Barak Obama. I love Black people.
Again, I find Black republican dogma to be offensive and i find anyone who advocates blacks to engage in arm to arm combat against white America as some one who hates Black people.
That is how i see it.
I sincerely believe the banking institutions having the issuing power of money, are more dangerous to liberty than standing armies.â€

“If the American people ever allow the banks to control the

Hmmmmmm jewels as usual!!! First of all I would like to read the whole article also as someone else stated. Agree or disagree it takes a lot of courage when you're a multiplatinum superstar like Alicia to make these statements!!! Its like when Kanye said George Bush doesn't care about Black people. That takes heart!! Most people, when they get rich and successful, conform and don't speak on the politics of the world. Much less issues involving our slain figures. And she may be correct or incorrect about her thoughts on Pac and BIG but just the fact that she is speaking on it is to be commended. And like Bigup said even if these theories are off base, SOMETHING IS GOING ON!!! Look at the jail statistics, education, average income, health, and other factors. We are being conspired against no doubt!!! Any country that could enslave and murder Black people for hundreds of years could work behind the scenes to keep us in turmoil nowadays. By the way I was gonna buy Alicias CD before but now I am for sure!!! I know I'm late, lol. Peace usuals

I co-sign and not only because we are an agreement but because you have cyclical gov't data that says "F*cking over Black folks and particularly Males is a policy of the US Gov't. This policy was long in place before Tupac or Farrakhan was on the scene or even born for that matter.
