Now that the verdict has been reached and Remy is guilty as charged, she will be facing up to 25 years in prison. And although we all know she won't be sitting behind bars for that long, the fact still remains that she won't be doing a Lil Kim bid; she might even end up doing at least 3 or 4. And 3 or 4 years from now, there might not be any rapping career to pursue. She might as well just throw it out the window.
[Remy] was found guilty on four charges, including assault in the first degree, criminal possession of a weapon and attempted coercion.Remy was then cuffed and escorted out of the court. As the door closed, she could be heard crying out, "Oh my God." A female officer rushed to calm her down.
Remy's brother hollered out, "This is bullsh*t," as the verdict was being read. The judge ordered him to be escorted out of the court room. Remy's stylist cried.
"We are very disappointed with the jury's verdict," [Lawyer Ivan] Fisher told SOHH. Remy wasn't ready for this. We plan to appeal all of the assault related charges."
"Remy didn't expect this," Fisher continued. "She didn't tell her 8-year-old son, who she left this morning [she would not be returning home]."
"They all lied," Remy's brother told SOHH in an outrage outside of the Manhattan court building. "They lied to the police and they lied on the stand," he added as he told a reporter to stop snapping photos.
All of that over $2,000 or $3,000 dollars? Was it worth ruining your chances at rap stardom? Was it worth losing your seed? A couple of Gs is really not a lot of money--money that she shouldn't have been walking around with in the first place. She's probably thinking to herself right now as she sits locked up awaiting sentencing: "I should've just stuck my foot up the broad's ass and cut off all ties." But instead she lost her temper, and lost control.
It's a shame, 'cause Remy's the only chick out of The Bronx to be trying to make any noise. On the bright side of things, it's a good look that Fat Joe showed his true colors before Remy hit hard times, so at least she won't be locked up wondering why she hasn't heard from him. It seems to be that that's how he rolls.
I'm being a little more sensitive about the subject being that she has a son who won't have a mother for awhile, but I notice a lot of other people aren't so thoughtful, lol. In the forums people are wishing her the full 25 years, while some even call her a "dumb bitch," adding "that's what she gets" and "sianara!" Can't forget things like "Good riddance!" and "Karma is a bitch."

Remy's Lawyers crafted up one of the most ignorant defense strategies I have seen since the Mike Tyson "Playboy" strategy approach offered in the Mike Tyson Rape case.
As oppose to having a leap of faith that a New York Jury would be so ignorant to believe that this was an accidental shooting; they would have been better off arguing self defense (which still would have been a stretch) or simply copping a plea.
However; the accidental shooting bullshit is an insult to the intelligence of anyone listening to the case. She really had bad representation. I also agree with Reckless that she will not get the full 25 but probably 7 to 10 and will be out in 3 to 5.
Any yes, her career is over. In fact it never really got started. I thought that she came in the game sort of cocky and sure Joe could have done a better job handling her but folks also have to know their place and also be willing to wait their turn.
If she would have had good people in her camp they would have told her to "fuck it - 3 g's isn't worth the problems that clapping this chick will bring."
I remember about 10 years ago Exhibit lost like 10 g's in a spot in NY. He was fucking around with some sistas and they picked his pocket to the tune of 10 g's. Well in response to that "vic" move he didn't clap up the club...he just took the lost.

Actually that is one of the points I tried to make (not as forcefully) too. She really wanted Joe to "Blow her up" but that is not the way the game always work. This shit requires more grind and more patience then she was really ready to put in.
I mean don't think Joe is laughing at her this morning but he probably shaking his head like "I try to show that dumb bitch how to get on but she thought i was trying to rape her." Same thing with that dumb nigga, J hood. He was so ready to leave D-Block because he thought wasto blow up and now he has nothing but an added feature to his lack luster resume which says he is a rape victim (by a man).

I agree. She should've taken a plea immediately IF one was offered. She did it and there was no way around it. People are tired of ignorance and there's no more patience. She's looking at a 2 to 6 at the very least. Not good.
She went from saying she's innocent to the girl shot herself to now it was an accident. I was really hoping this was nothing but another hip hop stunt gone bad and it would somehow get resolved before coming to this.
Normally, I'd have no sympathy but Remy is a woman and a mother so it saddens me.

I just think that arrogance and ignorance landing this chick in jail more than anything else. Even when her counsel told her that were going to go with the "accidental shooting" defense it was ignorance and arrogance that made her think that that shit would actually work. According the news reports Remy was in a state of shock when that guilty verdict came back.
Honestly, humility and common sense can take you much farther than arrogance and ignorance.
I don’t know the particulars of the case but I can’t understand why her lawyer used the defense that SHE SHOT HER BUT IT WAS AN ACCIDENT(case closed)this is not a battered wife syndrome case the prosecutors was alledging that she shot another girl.

You never admit your guilt unless your agreeing to a plea bargain no matter what evidence they say they got against you.
this might fuck up her appeals now,unless she can find a loop hole in the law or argue that her lawyer was incompetent but I doubt it.
IF rem did it,she made a conscience decision to bringing that gun outside or using it knowing full well the consequences…

Yeah; it really is sad. Copping a plea (if one was on the table) was probably the best way to go.
I also think if a person is signed to a vet in the game then they should listen to their counsel. They should learn more about the business and then break out on your own (once you really know the game) if you feel that is what is needed.
One thing that I really do respect and admire about 50 is that he got in the game and became a tireless student about the business aspect of the game. He became a scholar of the business aspect of the game and through his studies he made huge and very impressive business decisions. However, in the beginning he never rejected the counsel and guidance of em and Dre. He sat by their side and said I am going to learn how to become a millionaire (a million times over) and build empire just like they did. I remember 50 on an interview on MTV saying "All I want to do is not mess up with Em and Dre and learn everything I can from them." I saw the humility in him. And he did that and look at how huge he is now.
So I say to these young cats if you get on and a vet brings you on then listen to their counsel. They did not stay in the game that long by being stupid. Learn from their experiences.
I was so disappointed when cats were dissing Ja Rule when he writing blogs for sohh. My disappointment was not because I am a Ja fan (which I am not) but because this is a cat who has close to 10 years in the business and several plat joints- why not try to pick his brain for the knowledge he recieved.

I think one innocent person in prison is too much. However, throughout the years I've seen guys cop out to crimes they didn't commit, (lack of funds coupled with criminal history) beat cases they should've lost and lost cases they should've won but I have yet to see a person who leads an honest crime free, law abiding life get charged and convicted for something they didn't do. I'm not saying it doesn't happen. I'm saying for it to happen outside of the parameters I provided are extremely rare.
Let me also say before the e-thugs get at me. LOL! I've been wrongfully accused of felonies on no less than 6 occassions. And though I didn't commit THOSE crimes I would never have been a suspect if my lifestyle and circle were different. The police once told me I was lucky for beating so many cases and I responded, "on the contrary, I consider myself UNLUCKY for being wrongly accused so many times."
All I'm saying is each and every one of us has to fiercely protect our reputation by being mindful of our actions and associations at all times. You'd be surprised how those simple preventative measures can keep a person out of harm's way.

On one hand I feel bad for Remy, jail, although I have never been, seems like a place no one would want to go.But on the other hand she shot someone, what if she had missed and hit someone inocent? what if this girl really didn't steal her money?
It seems like stars think they are above the law, with all the DWI, the drugs, etc, and to a point they seem to be, but this is I think a good example of justice. Remy admitted to shooting her, accident or not, you had a gun, that in all likly hood wasn't registered, I only say this b/c they never found the gun, and what was her plan? to just scare the girl? Well that is still against the law, with T.I getting convicted, Remy, I hope it starts a trend, not of more people going to jail, but of more people using their heads.

We KNOW she did it because that was her defense.
Those "men" who were with Remy on that night are losers. No way were they supposed to let her emotions get the best of her. Instead of cheering her on they were supposed to be MEN and take control of the situation. There's even allegations one of them gave her the gun. I didn't like when 50 went on the radio talking about Remy put more work in that Fat Joe. That was an ongoing case and confirmation of her guilt. That wasn't cool but it's the nature of hip hop these days. Nothing is sacred. People who get paid to talk never know when to shut up.
I have to disagree with some of these 'Women & Men" comments.
I agree that her friends men or women should have been giving her better guidance, but not as "a man taking control", that is just backwards thinking.
Women are a pillar of any successful community, without them their really would be no community.
We as a community have to start to respect women as equals, and as a way to become closer to nature and or god if you so choose to call it that. Remy had bad people around her, but to say the men should have taken control is just silly, she should have taken control as a human being, and been responsible for her own actions, opps I guess she is now.

I don't think Remy is a criminal who deserves to be put away, but our laws are designed to pick up where unfit parenting and bad homelives left off.

Prisons are filled with people like Remy...who react first and think last. The immature state of mind is reflected all in the music. A generation of people are under a false sense of reality because they don't have any real influential support systems at home or abroad that encourages them to be knowledgable enough to make responsible adult decisions.

Social irresponsibility is widely accepted and often celebrated...giving the strong arm of the law the opportunity to step in and handle it anyway they see fit. Then when they do step in everybody cries foul and feels targeted failing to realize that you and your community practically handed you over.

I guess I'm just old school. I see men as the head of the household. That's how it is in my house and that's how it was in my parents house.
Women are more emotional than men so in situations where emotions flare it is a man's duty to intervene. Who knows what time of the month it was.
Although we are all equal we are not all equally made. That's why we all have our roles. They are not and should not be interchangeable.

Before I even consider anything that has to do with Hip Hop, street code, people going emo or postal, I place at the forefront that a human being was nearly killed and instead has been seriously assaulted to the point of needing 3 surgeries so far. On that note, all I'll say about Remy is "JUSTICE SERVED."
Sure, nobody wanna get locked up (especially with their kid at home). But a crime was committed. F#ck the "street code" and f#ck people losing their temper over money that was allegedly stolen. That's what the police are there for! (Yeah, I said it.) All of you who claim to be on that "Don't Snitch" campaign are as dumb as Cam'ron!
There are a few things that would show some character at the end of this class-less situation:
1) If Fat Joe calls Remy to say, "Nevermind our bickering, I'm sorry that you're going away for a quarter of a century." Beef and all that ish is just dramas and soap operas. A jail bid is real life. Grow up, y'all!
2) If Curtis Jackson stepped forward to say he'd do something to help make sure Remy's little man was taken care of. Forget the fake gangsta/mobster personna. Being a parent is real life.

I did mine and I'm good. I'm also in the law books for overturning a conviction at trial. That's right, went to the apellate courts and WON. You won't believe that either but it doesn't matter. I only sparingly mention my history to give added weight to the knowledge I try to share. Some people can't Jay walk without getting arrested. I've done a lot worse and I'm using that experience to reinvent myself. Some people are good at what they do and some are lucky. I happen to be both.... Carry on.
