Today I'm keeping it strictly news.
Termanology is from right outside of Boston (Lawrence), BUT! NYC has nothing but love for the kid who teamed up with Preemo to bring us "Watch How it Go Down" {watch vid here- and peep the Pun tribute}-- perhaps one of his most notable joints thus far. This track, called "It's the ST," features his crew ST. Da Squad, and is produced by Statik Selektah. "It's the ST" is from off the upcoming mixtape as displayed below, which should be hot in these streets some time this month.

Papoose seems to be stepping closer and closer back to his original style. It seems as if leaving JIVE has brought him back to square one; major labels these days do nothing but sabotage real MCs, so to be released from a potential "better built cell block" (in Mos Def's words) must be a relief, and a wake-up call. I bet Sai wishes he had that luck.
I don't really feel this joint as much as most of his old stuff, but this joint is definitely mixtape style... the mixtape style many of us used to love. Check out "Ambulance," something Uncle Murder should have on repeat in his iPod to remind him of the body he could have been that night.
If he can even afford an iPod, that is. SMH.
AZ first came hard with the Styles P-featured/ Large Pro-produced "The Hardest," and is now pushing his buzz even harder with this joint, "Fire," {listen} from off of his upcoming disc, Undeniable. This isn't as hot as "The Hardest," but the production is smooth, and the lyrics are on point. I can't help but to always hear that young-ass voice on Illmatic everytime I hear duke rap. LOL.

It's already been 8 years since we lost the late, great Big Punisher. So I figured I'd devote this entire week with a video from the Bronx lyricist since I prepared a post for November 9th... and then forgot. Posting during all hours of the night does that to you.
Big Pun, who lost his life to a heart attack on February 7th, 2000, wasn't around long enough to prove his spot as one of the top five. And if he was still around, The Bronx would definitely be on top. Just as Brooklyn would be running things had Biggie not passed, and Cali would still be holding it down if Pac was still alive. Trust me. When there are leaders in the game, EVERYONE STAYS ON POINT.
Which is why the South is sloppily sh*tting all over the rap game as they please, not aiming for the toilet, but pissing every-which-a-way. I've never seen anything so disgusting.

Pun was hot. Most new rappers with talent have hot 1st albums. They're new, sound different and are therefore refreshing. We'll never know what Pun could've done. I know his live performance was nowhere near his recorded material. On his albums he "punched" his vocals relentlessly. Live, he simply didn't have the breath control to come close to repeating flows like the Little Italy verse which was super hot by the way.
Also, I've seen the Terror Squad out back in those days. Those dudes always struck me as having a chip on their shoulders at best or racist at worst. Just check their man "Handgun" Pete aka the fake Pistol Pete. He's a racist Puerto Rican who bragged about stabbing everthing black in a prison racial war on his DVD. Just imaging if any black rapper had people in his crew bragging about knocking out Latin Kings in the penile and Reckless was PR. There's no way Big would get love but leave it to niggas to always yearn for acceptance from people who despise us.
Since Reckless is from the Bx I'm sure he's used to kissing Boricua ass but that shit don't go down nowhere else in the city.
As nice as Pun was I don't like the company he kept and what they stood for so I will never promote his music or him.
Truth be told Pun had one decent album and anything else is fantasy. The reason people go crazy over it is because no one expected a Rican to spit like that. He was the first.

What you said is definitely a part of the problem but it's a little more complicated than that. From a distance people emulate blacks all over the world BUT when they get to America and witness our true status the fixation dissipates. Once they realize the white man doesn't hold us in high regard they no longer hold us in high regard. Let's be honest, people come from countries where they don't even have paper to wipe their asses and look down on us. I believe the minute they realize we don't call shots they lose all fascination with us. So yes, Self-respect goes a long way but without that white stamp of approval we're not gonna matter much in THEIR eyes anyway.

As far as the thread is concerned, pick up the latest National Geographic. It discusses the Black Pharoah and their influence on Egyptian culture. It broke down due to a lot of in fighting, warlords taking over kind of like Rome. They also saved the Jews from being destroyed by the Assyrians. Shit's deep. America and the entire European world has worked to destroy our history. We should continue to read about it as much as possible.

If doing so helps us get off that stumbling block and get focused on what's important...then it is what it is.

I agree...the image of Christ so popular today is one of the greatest stumbling blocks.
Yet again, more evidence that matters of separation of race is deadly and divisive.
It sucks that the image has become what is most accepted when the name "Jesus" comes up.
In the drama we do, we even use a Willy Nelson looking Jesus. But I dare say that doing so is more productive than not having a Jesus character at all and not telling the story, because the color is not THE story being told.
And you right, it sucks that if we were to put a black Jesus up there...that it would take away from the story. And by that I mean that the youngsters would leave that drama asking their parents "why was Jesus black" and miss the whole story of the saving power of Christ because the story would take the whole left turn towards race.
It's a double edged sword. But see...that's why God said in His word that it is God himself that saves. He needs no man, and there is nothing that we can add to His saving grace. We are to tell the story and share the love and God does the rest. The devil grabs every hold he can, and slips in every crack He can to break down and try and steal from the truth.
I do want to recreate this same drama, and do it with a mexican Jesus, a black Jesus, etc. Just to get the point of cross that regardless of color, the story is the same. Who is God to you? That is the question to be answered and whose answer dictates your eternity.
But the idea of believing that Christianity is making a willing conscience effort towards perpetuating "a lie" is an irresponsible one for us as Christians to take. When we attack the church, we are attacking ourselves because we are the church. If we feel a lie is being told, then we need to be out there breaking it down from this side of the fence...not that side. We not straddlers and he spews the luke warm from his mouth. Thus sayeth the Lord. LET'S GET IT!

According to science MODERN man has been in existence for 100k yrs. Roughly 10k years ago man's development took a quantum leap in AFRICA. I don't know when the mutation took place but I know it took place some time prior to that.
I don't know what map you have but Africa and Europe aren't connected on mine.
The Mediterranean sea separates the two continents. People from both sides have been know to make the trans-mediterranean journey.
Let me also say this. I don't push the African 1st concept as a means of black supremacy. Race never meant much to African peoples which is why we accecpted Greeks and other white skinned people and shared knowledge with them. The problem then is as it is now. People want the next man's shine and will steal it if they have to.

Part of the reason that I don't ride with Christianity is because it's a subjective frame of mind. There are a lot of "only" and submissive tenets to it's doctrines. "The only way to God is through his son", "The only way to live comfortably is by following the word of God", so on and so forth. If all of this is true, then why were we given free will? Why give us the ability to seek out our path in life if the ultimate goal is either eternal life or eternal death? The concept is almost asinine. There has to be more. Why author so many different nations, religions, cultures and people? Why allow the Roman Catholic Church to get their influential hands in the formation of the Holy Bible as we know it? Why have so many books been left out of the Holy Bible? Why is Jesus and most Jews painted white by European artists when their indigenious region features so many dark skinned people? Why does it matter whether Jesus is white or black to so many prominent clergy members? Many questions, no answers.
However, I do have an answer as to the origin of the caucasion. It's long but follow it please if you're interested.........
Oculocutaneous albinism (OCA) is a rare, genetically inherited condition passed on by both parents to their offspring, resulting in a significant reduction in or absence of pigmentation in the hair, skin, and eyes at birth. Individuals with albinism are very fair-skinned and fair-haired, with (most often) blue eyes that can take on tones of purple or red in bright lighting.

Part of the reason that I don't ride with Christianity is because it's a subjective frame of mind. There are a lot of "only" and submissive tenets to it's doctrines. "The only way to God is through his son", "The only way to live comfortably is by following the word of God", so on and so forth. If all of this is true, then why were we given free will? Why give us the ability to seek out our path in life if the ultimate goal is either eternal life or eternal death? The concept is almost asinine. There has to be more. Why author so many different nations, religions, cultures and people? Why allow the Roman Catholic Church to get their influential hands in the formation of the Holy Bible as we know it? Why have so many books been left out of the Holy Bible? Why is Jesus and most Jews painted white by European artists when their indigenious region features so many dark skinned people? Why does it matter whether Jesus is white or black to so many prominent clergy members? Many questions, no answers.

The Egyptians are the most prolific record keepers of all antiquity and they have no record of Moses or Hebrews being enslaved.
Does that mean those men didn't exist? Possibly but what I tend to believe is those weren't their names. Most stories in the bible have similarities to stories told by various cultures in the region which predate the Bible. Perhaps the bible is a collection of oral history put on paper by people who chose to personalize the stories. I don't know but that's one explanation. Actually, that's EXACTLY how it is. I think I was one of the only people to actually grow up in a family where Puerto Ricans actally embraced their African Heritage. Maybe it was because they didn't have a choice. They aren't the 'mixed' looking Latinos. You can't tell my grandmother's family from any other Black people until they speak. I'm from Brooklyn and I see your point. You're on to something when it comes to them being a minority in certain places. I grew up in Fort Greene projects and the Puerto Ricans I grew up with there was just like anybody else. You didn't get that air of superiority from them. I'm pretty sure in the Bronx the attitude is totally different. But one thing we can say is that at least in New York things aren't as bad as they are in places where it's Blacks and Mexicans killing each other like in LA. That at least makes me feel better about our relations here in the northeast because things are worse with Black Americans and Mexicans in other parts of the country. Even though both groups have our differences, we are more united than Cubans and Blacks in Miami too
BTW: I looooove Cubans from the island but the Miami ones are some wannabe white Latino versions of Uncle Toms. They are so jaded by that whole white is right bullshit. Cuba is actually a predominantly Black country. You wouldn't be able to tell that by visiting Florida, though.
