This is the snippet {listen} for what they say is one of the joints from off of Nas’ N*gger, called “What It Is.†And I like it. I can hear this banging in the whip, blaring out a window on a summer night in the hood, bumping out a stereo live at a barbeque, and flooding the floors in the club. The beat is hard, lyrics on-point as always, and the hook is very…not-cliché. Damn they should have let the hook ride a little bit longer.
Being that this was ripped from off of that DJ Khalil listening session, the quality is bad, but you get the gist of it. Question: if this is one of the joints, I wonder if the rest of the album will measure up to, surpass… or sink below.
Please Nas… deliver. You’ve made it clear at the Grammy’s that Kelis is more articulate than you in terms of conversation. So do what you do best with the ink and pad, and articulate well.
And by the way… is anyone checking for yet another Papoose mixtape (Props to Bronxrap)?
I’ll admit he had me optimistic after I heard that “Who Shot Ya†Uncle Murda dis, but then I went on the SOHH forum and saw all the corny Pap punchlines all his haters posted, and suddenly felt very uneasy. SMH.
I mean, is Pap plotting and scheming another mixtape massacre? He kept the streets fed well back in ’04 and ’05, but that was then. What they’re saying now is the buzz is dying down, so at this point it doesn’t matter what he does. Only time will tell.

You know I agree with the balance issue in rap. It's amazing how people think their personal preference in music is what's needed to "save" hip hop. Like yourself I like a variety of music from a variety of artists for a variety of reasons. I can be critical of artists who make music I like unlike so many on this site. It wouldn't be bad if there was a bunch of HS kids on here but the majority on this site are GROWN.
For instance, I like Illmatic and Stillmatic but I don't think naming an album NIGGER is a good idea. The BLIND loyalty to individual artists and to a large degree hip hop is indicative of today's "cult of personalty" fans who endorse ignorance in the name of riding with their region or artists. Please grow up..
Also, this site needs new bloggers. It's the same perspective of the same topics. How many times are we gonna talk about Nas' album. This is the NYC blog but there's a consistent rotation of about 7 subjects.
This should be a place to share knowledge of the business, promote ideas and yes, prostrate at your favorite rappers' feet if that's what you're into as many of you are. LOL! A bitch is a woman who a man cares nothing about, doesn't hold in any regard, on any level OR a woman who acts on a level below the standard of a WOMAN. A hoe is a woman used strictly to solicit sex or for the purpose of having sex. Just becuz Oprah is in high society and cannot look left/right and see a bitch or a hoe doesn't mean they don't exist (in the hood, there's plenty of em, trust me I know).
