I was wondering what the hell had happened to Dead Prez-- and then Onsmash finds one half of the duo. I peeped this a couple days late, but hey.
Stic.Man and M-1 had previously been working on separate projects but are now in the works of bringing together a DP album, entitled Information Age, which should be hitting stores later this year.
And you can dismiss that silly, so-called "review" Maxim Magazine gave N*gger, because according to Stic-- who has been working with Nas on the project-- the album is brilliant.
"We had a relationship with Nas from before," Stic told Onsmash. "He just reached out and said 'I'm workin on my album wanna fly y'all out' and we went out to Cali and just got it in. Actually, I'm on my way back out there to do a little more and put some finishing touches on some things and it's been great. I don't wanna let no cats out the bag but the album is hard! It's gonna make you think and it's some classic Nas with a little touch of that Sticky Icky here and there! What about DP's new music?
I definitely did a lot of beats and productionâ€"not just beats, but producing and arranging and bringin' in musicians to give this Picasso of our time the best platform I could offer. We collaborated on a lot of stuff lyrically but at the end of the day we're here to support Nas' vision and make sure he shines so we may have some things where we rappin' or it might just be our production but ultimately him and def Jam are gonna make that decision.â€
Dead Prez new record is an international sound, high energy nothin' but the truth on every joint and is nothing like any music we've ever done before. That's real talk! Me and M-1 been in the lab ain't takin' no showers seven days in a row, just goin' hard! We have not broken up. We not beefin', we workin'. We just growin' up as men. On the album we bustin' shotsâ€"in a positive way.â€
And BTW-- what Maxim review am I referring to? The one below... and Nas dissed the hell out of this mag:
RAPPER Nas was shocked when Maxim gave his new album, N*gger a 2½-star review â€" because it isn't even finished yet. "I'm finishing the album now, and it will be out April 22," Nas told [NY Post's] Page Six. Maxim has since apologized for the premature review, but Nas doesn't care. "I'd prefer [a review from] Playboy," the rapper said. "That kind of stuff doesn't reach my radar or effect anybody around me. I don't know what a music rating from Maxim is . . . I don't know what it even means really." Maxim also reviewed the Black Crowes' album, "War Paint," without listening to it in its entirety.
Those interns are bored over there. Stop letting them turn in incomplete projects.
Lmao... If I was an artist I'd call a review from Maxim as an insult to my work, an embarrassment. "PR folks: We're not paying you for corny press. You're fired!"

Check out the album sampler for Termanology's crew ST. DASquad... props to Dan Green for the link.

First in the house, nice to see DP back in business, and a Maxim review is nothing to anyone who would buy the album anyway, Nas that is, anyways i was birhted by Dead Prez, enjoy my music, UK What up,
http://www.myspace.com/deedashflow
I've been travelin for some time
With my fishin pole and my bottle of shine
On these long dark dusty roads
Lookin there's nowhere to go
I guess I gotta hide away, far away
Cause I gotta find a way, to find my way
GOOD FOR NAS AND DP. LOOKING FORWARD TO THEIR NEW MATERIAL.
TERMANALOGY IS A SICK MC. ILL ON THE MIC.
Last I checked Maxim had surpassed Playboy as the #1 mens's monthly with a circulation of +2 million in N. America.
They reach a lot of people who actually READ their publication and spend money. Not saying a bad review from them is the end of the world but a good one can only help.
I wonder how they got the album. Obviously someone sent it to them. They're not going to make things like that up and open themselves to a lawsuit. We're not talking about the Source or Hip Hop Weekly.
Yea that nas album mite be hard! I was worried til da prez gave a cosign, he bout to go there and get his bridge burn on! Now all he need is farrakhan on da intro and it's curtains! Yah bitch yah!
http://www.MIDNIGHTisHERE.com
RA RA RA RA RA RA REAAAAAAAL TALK IN THE MOTHERFUCKING HOOOOOOOOUSE, NIGGER.
-
Of course Pres is going to cosign the fucking album. He's getting a check from Nas. Wow, people act like an independent source, with no relationship to Nas, who happened to hear the music, said damn it's hot. Niggers that work as executives at Coca Cola will cosign Coke products too motherfuckers, but I bet their ass applied to work at Pepsi as well. Stop being ignorant niggers all your life.
-
Nas is lazy. This album is not going to have some message in it, other than what every other rapper drops in 1-2 of their songs, from Ludacris, to 50, to TI. Nas recycles beats and lyrics. His first single off this corny ass album is a recycled SONG, the WHOLE entire song is recycled, even the name, he just changed the beat. That is how much he cares about blacks. He isn't even nice enough to make original music for your $14.
-
FUCK NAS NIGGER. He's using you niggers. He needs to stack a few more checks since Kelis been on a spending spree.
Did somebody say all it needs is an intro from Farrakhan? LOL! For what?!
St. Da Squad got a nice lil crew there. And Term is a beast. Can't wait for the real album to drop.
That Nas album gon be fire. I hope he got some other good features on that bad boy.
Lmao word Nimrod. I just noticed that too. Niggers be fucking crazy.
I truly believe that Nas will surprise a lot of people who are dissing and hating even before his album drops. Dead Prez are great lyricists! I respect them a lot.
Real Talk your a fuckin hater. You obviously don't listen to real music and judging by what you say, you just type to see your self talk. Go sit your ass down somewhere!!!
Nas is a LEGEND, whether you or anybody else wants to recognize that. He has ALWAYS made music that HE wanted to make, not some bullshit that he thinks is gonna sell (i.e. your favorite rapper). He has consistently been one of the best rappers out there as far as lyrical content and overall talent. So respect that man while he's here, because years after he's gone you gonna be scratching your head wondering where all the real MC's went.
As far as Dead Prez go, those dudes right there are the TRUTH !!! I'm a mutha fuckin DP'z fan till the death! I cop all things Dead Prez and go to every live show they do in the area. M1 and Stic spit nothin but reality rap, not that fake street shit(i.e. your favorite rapper).
I'm ready for both these fuckin albums baby!!!
Nigger had to put my name in your mouth right. Nas is a legend, har har. Why is he a legend; because he's been rapping for 20 years? Is Fat Joe a legend? Fuck Nas. That nigger does make music based on what he thinks will sell. Who the fuck are you kidding?
-
Small break down without me even thinking on it:
-
1) Early 90's had that 2pac conscious but still a gangster shit happening, so what does Nas do? He raps the same way, uses the same style, but dresses in NY style of clothing.
-
2) Pac dies, Big dies, it becomes the Diddy flashy era. What does Nas do? He starts dressing like Diddy and making "hate me now" type songs. OHH SNAP, someone forgot about that huh?
-
3) Jay-z is on top and out of boredom takes shots at him. Nas uses ether (which wasn't as hot as people portray it) to come back and then wow, he jacks Jay-Z's style for an album.
-
4) People start saying hip hop is dead because of snap music, what does Nas do? He labels his song hip hop is dead, AFTER STREET DISCIPLES FLOPS because he didn't have anybody to jock that time around, and he uses the same exact beat.
-
5) Nigga is in the news because of that media guy and the basketball broads. Oh snap, here comes nigger Nas with the nigger album. Why is it he never innovates? Why is he always reacting to what is already stated or already in the media?
Ignore Real Talk..he has a secret Nas fetish. He dislikes Nas but is here everyday dissecting the man like a frustrated stalker.lol
Cant wait for that Nas-DP collab..gonna be fire.
Ignore Moresickfaggot, he's a Nas stan. If Nas pissed in a cup and told him it was holy water, he'd believe it because Nas can do no wrong.

What's good SOHH? Man Nas is my favorite artist and DPz are my favorite group!!! I can't wait for both of these projects!!!! Nas never innovates huh? Who's done a song like One Mic with tones fluctuating from low to high and low again? Rewind spittin a story in reverse? Bridgin the Gap tracing the roots of music? I know I can a positive message for the youth with not one curse, bitch, nigger or hoe on it? And he was droppin jewels in that last verse? Huh? Never innovates? He might have borrowed a few concepts but the man has creativity in him!! Get rid of that crab mentality!!! Dude its fine if you don't like Nas but which artist do you like? Who should ppl listen to as an alternative in your opinion? Speak up!!!!
~reloading~
Moooooootheeeeeerfuuuuuucker...Here's a newsflash, nobody should be "listening" to music for information on how to live their life. Are you kidding me? I never once heard white people claim that Britney was ruining their kids or that the way New Kids on the Block danced was making their daughters suck dick. It's fucking entertainers. Nobody said nothing about the Jackson 5 being teens running around singing love sings. Cut the shit. If you want a black leader, go out and become one, don't try to put rappers on a pedestal.
-
As far as Nas, he does whatever is hot. He's a politician. He takes advantage of the hot topic of the day. If right now if the news started talking about beef between light skinned and dark skinned blacks, he'd make that shit his second album and talk about unity, but he won't on his own just go bring it up and talk about how we should fix that.
By the way, you seem to completely ignore the fact that Nas does whatever will sell him. Pac was Pac from day one, Big was Big, 50 was 50 (yes even the so called singing can be heard on his old mixtapes), Dipset was dipset, Diddy was Diddy. Nas changes with whatever will sell. That's fucking obvious.
-
You can bring up any song you want and focus on the message in that song, but almost all rappers have 1-2 "motivational or educational songs in their albums. I never see niggers like you calling them the next Malcolm X, but with Nas you do. You ignore the real bullshit to focus on a few songs. The songs are just a day in his life, but the overall picture is his lifespan. Being good 1 day a week doesn't make up for the bad.
@everyone, watch how frustrated Nas stalker-Real talk aka nimrod will spend his whole day here on his anti-Nas crusade trying to convince all how bad Nas is and why he is not a legend etc,etc
Real Talk you need therapy ..why r you so obsessively angry with Nas? chill dude.
More propaganda from Nas lovers. If more than one person hates Nas online, it must be the same person. Lmao.
-
Nigger fuck Nas. He's the biggest kind of scum there is. Once a-fucking-gain, he is Al Sharpton. He is Jesse Jackson. He uses his own people for his personal gains. It's one thing to have a sneaker store and profit from that selling to your own people, it's another to take advantage of the race card and our desire for change to make you rich. He's that motherfucking preacher who has a building fund but never builds shit.
Dudes are funny to me. You're supposed to be from NY but here you are throwing stones at one of NY's greatest artists ever. I can see being critical but all you do is hate on the man. No credit for a man with a 14 year career who's made timeless songs and never sold less than gold to my knowledge. I bet if I went on SOHH Left Coast I wouldn't see westcoast post hating on Snoop or Cube daily. Or SOHH Atlanta and see one of them cats hating on Luda or T I constantly. This is one of NYs problems even among the artists. No unity. If you wanna hate on NYs elite so much go move to Idaho and buy a barn. I'm reppin NY forever!!! Youre a small thing to a GIANT!!!!!
Wait a minute, you mean to tell me he hasn't completed most of the album yet and he already has a release date.it doesn't make since... And if that is his release date, that means he's rushing to meet a dead line...
I don't know if I trust NAS with rushed music, especially after the last two DUDS he put out, there's only a few artist that can make hot shit In 2 weeks and turn it in to get mastered and pressed up(that takes a little time too)...
And now he's calling on other fake revolutionist/activist rappers so he can bolster his appearance of standing for something?
I like some of the messages they spit in there ryhmes but I've never been a big fan of dead prez's music, and you mean to tell me that all you gotta do is throw some bread and work at them and they'll co sign foolery, some strong pro black revolutionist they are...just because you go to mumia abu jamal rallys dont make you a revolutionist activist...
damn,I'm not sure if this album is gonna be as hot as people say its gonna be,and once again for the thousandth time, the issue is the ALBUM COVER,he's parading around like a fool on national tv with the word nigger on the front of tshirts for attention at the expense of black people,I see no other plausible reason or any intelligence for this...
Nas was Nas since before Illmatic!!! On live from the BBQ!!!! He doesn't do whatever to sell. His latest cds have had a msg. Hip Hop is dead which had a great video showing what the future of Hip Hop might come to. Nigger which a lot of you are speaking against him for when every third word out of your mouth is nigger?!? Wtf is going on here?!? Hypocrite anyone? A lot of you haven't even heard any material yet and are downing the man!!! Smh and last but not least... if you're feeling him WHO ARE YOU FEELING? Who's better than him??? Now respond
Layer if you don't shut the fuck up you ignorant ass nigger. I'm waiting for an excuse to smack the shit out of you. Talking about we should support Nas just because he's from NY. I can tell now you're some ignorant motherfucker, who THINKS he's smart because he wishes he was in community college, smokes weed all day, has dreads, and hangs up Black Panther posters. Just shut the fuck up. Rememeber, "The revolution will not be televised" OR PUT ON FUCKING CD NIGGER!!!
Anyway.
I just listened to a track from Termanology's crew. They got some shit with them. I Wonder if ST. gon stay indie or go through a major?
BigupB2k is a BITCH. HE DIDN'T SHOW UP @ MADISON SQUARE GARDEN BY THE TRASH CAN. I WAITED FOR THIS NIGGA FOR 2 FUCKING HOURS AND HIS BITCH ASS DIDN'T SHOW UP. WHAT A WASTE OF HUMAN FLESH IMMA CATCH YOU AND WHEN I DO ITS OVER FOR YOU BITCH ASS NIGGA G-UNIT CRIP 4 LIFE
*if you're not feeling him* pardon the typo
Side note... the Shawn Bell case is underway, may those cops receive true justice
@MoresicaMC
Please get off my dick. I don't post under different names. First you thought me and React were the same people now it's me and Real Talk.
I guess it's impossible for three people to intelligently argue their point in your mind so they must be the same person.
For the record, I agree with a lot of what Real Talk says about Nas but I also feel he may have an agenda for targeting mass.
Since you're on my dick so much and read my every post you should notice I discuss everything from religion to politics to economics to history to the hood on here. I'm not consumed with hip hop much less Nas. I leave that to mental midgets like you.
Now roast pork reverts to ignorance cause you can't engage me in conversation. You would NEVER smack me cause I would beat fire out of your punk ass you honky. That's right NY should stand by their artists you douchebag. You're a confused tranny who doesn't know if you want to be a CEO or a so called thug. I can assist you. You're the delivery boy at Papa Johns with the horn on your bike. Www.myspace.com/layerissolidarity!!!! Blazing hot mixtape material!!!! NY stand together
I hope those punk ass cops that murdered Shawn Bell get raped and killed in jail. We gotta start killing these motherfuckas that want to kill us.
Only reason I talk about Nigger Nas is because Nigger Nas gets mentioned in every blog. This nigger gets unlimited promotion here.
-
Layer, go to the 90's, go to the Sally's, go to Ocean Ave, go to any hood in BK and we can meet up. I'll even give you a fair one. Me and you dolo, I promise none of my youngins won't jump in or pop you. I'm going to beat the fucking shit out of you, big lipped ass nigger.
I am still encouraged by the product. To me it has already succeeded. On this site alone and on both sides of the issue we have talked about the content of this joint and his motivation and inspiration (rather it is pure or more ominous) and to me that is what Hip Hop should be all about.
When a heavy hitter like 50, Game or Ii or Wayne or one of those kinds of cats the first things cats says is "Is a dre beat on it. Is Swiss producing some beats? I heard em is going to drop a beat and may even spit on the joint". So the joint are discussed on a very low level (at least for me). It is all about what producer and what special guess will be on the joint but never about the content (In terms of purpose, mission, objective ...etc).
I think one of the reasons Hip Hop 2008 gives me gas is because all that shit sounds like one huge mixtape. These cats use the same producers and so the beats sound the same; the content with respect to lyrics is always “I am rich and fucking bitches and will fuck up any nigga in my area†And that us on the coasts (east and west). In the south those cats are more joyful. They are doing alot southern style party shit. I personally don't like it but I understand that is some regional shit that appeals to that region and some cats outside of the region. But here again; it is all about dancing and partying.
However if PE of KRS 1 or even Cube, Rakim or Pac or Scarface dropped a joint you really wanted to hear it because you knew that the bulk of their joint was going to have a black socio-political-cultural undertone and appeal to it. You knew PE was going take some kind of crazy off centered ill beat and make the shit a social-political banger!
So, I credit cats like Nas who has forced us to get to look at joints from point of view that we are. I mean who is the last cat on here that we have done that with. I will tell you; it was Nas' Hip Hop is dead.
So I welcome this. To me he has already succeeded.
I hope those punk ass cops that murdered Shawn Bell get raped and killed in jail. We gotta start killing these motherfuckas that want to kill us.
February 28, 2008 9:16 AM
Damn!
I respect Dead Prez jumping in on this joint. I'll say this and that's it. I'm waiting for it to drop. When it does and it's hot, then I'm co-signing. If it's wack, then I'm not co-signing. Simple.
Real Talk says...
Pac was Pac from day one, Big was Big, 50 was 50 (yes even the so called singing can be heard on his old mixtapes), Dipset was dipset, Diddy was Diddy.
Really! Pac was Pac on "I get around". How about when he was rapping with Digital Underground on "All around the world". 50 never switched up his style on any tracks? Really. How about "Candy Shop", "Magic Stick", "Ayo Technology"? Dipset's so called boss Camron came out with "Horse and Carriage" then he signed with the Roc and went street. I don't even have to go there on Diddy. He isn't a rapper, he's a producer with swagger. His pop ass invented some of this dancing bullshit we're talking about today. There are times young man when you're on point, then you say stupid shit like this. Like Nas said, "You can hate me now, but I won't stop now". You make it obvious that you don't like him so I won't bother getting into that discussion with either you or Nimrod. I'm just glad there are people here with their own opinions.
Just when Chi Town Bird Chest aka Beyonce wins the SOHH award for the biggest Dick Rider on SOHH, the NIGGER Real Talk comes in a steals the crown right off of Beyonce's head.

nigga YOU must be retarded
white people had a big ass campaige about how britany, jamie lynn spears, linsey lohan and that paris hilton bitch was gonna influence young girls. man shut you self hating ass up.
you go a hunit percent hard on a mc with a message but in the same sentence big up 50 cent.
For real Essex this police brutality has got to stop!!! 41 shots for Diallo, a plunger in the ass for Louima, and 50 shots for Shawn Bell and other cases!?! Dead wrong!!!

I HOPE THEY BURN IN HELL!!!
Nigger known as Brooklyn B, they only did that because of the OFF THE TRACK shit; because Lindsay was on crack and so was Britney and the rest. When there music was coming out selling millions, none of this came up. Don't confuse the two. Nice try though. Fuck Nas.
-
Ernest, well again, those artist were those artists from the start. Every example you cited where they slightly modified their style, was because of who they were signed too. Pac had to rap a certain way for digital underground to give him play, Cam did with Mase, etc etc. Listen to old 50 mixtapes, he always had songs about fucking girls and he always did "sing". The point is NOBODY ever has changed up as much as Nas just to sell records. Fat Joe catches flack just for changing the style of his flow to a more southern style and using southern beats.
So, I credit cats like Nas who has forced us to get to look at joints from point of view that we are. I mean who is the last cat on here that we have done that with. I will tell you; it was Nas' Hip Hop is dead.

This nigga said he was making this album, wore the shirts and now he's on every radio show talking about the shit. Someone earlier attempted to give Maxim some shine and it's a big mag. But, it appeals to yuppie ass white dudes. The only sistah that gets any shine in there is Beyonce. They gave Serena and Venus a few shots but that's about it. Besides, if any of you read the entire post up there it stated that Maxim apologized for the premature review. I read Playboy and their shit is geared towards all men. Maxim talks about some shit a brother can't identify with most of the time. I like the split on the Nas issue because at least it brings dialogue whether good or bad to the table. I for one am anticipating this joint like no other since HHID. This joint was buzzing right before it dropped. I can't wait.
Sometimes your judged by what your doing NOW,not your PAST...
I wouldve gave his last two albums hiphop is dead, and streets disciple 2 stars in a heart beat, those albums was TRASH.I also wouldve gave nastradomous, and i AM 2 stars, those albums also were TRASH...
I didn't see him questioning cracker outlets hiphop credentials when they gave him good reviews for illmatic, stillmatic,it was written, and gods son...
Wow, Nas and DP working together on his new albulm. Working together during the creative process. Man.....I'm already more interested in seeing what they cook up. Props to Nas on that....I wondering who else he bumps heads with on the project?
Hey, Black Art Depot, nice website.....................................................................................................................................*Borat voice* NAAAAAAAAAAAAWT

You know that we'll never agree on that so let's lay that to rest. I'll leave you with a good drop from someone that I respect greatly:
"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly hoping to get a different result".
Music evolves, listeners evolve, artists must do the same.
@ BigUp2BK
from yesterday. That nigga Benzino don't really get no respect here anymore. He shits on all of his peoples that helped him come up. And EdOG is signed to Duck Down now. He got a group called Special Teams and they got a real dope album out.
