Big and Pac's death wasn't the result of a rap battle. That's what happens when entertainers take the act too far and get involved with TRUE and living G's who react differently to beef. 1) IN CASE YOU MISSED IT, Brother React is in the construction business and this thing has meant MANY NEW PROJECTS which spells MANY NEW JOB OPPORTUNITIES for EVERYONE, including the local folks.

2) They're gonna have to clear out some additional buildings along the Atlantic Yards, which means the people who own that property will be gettin $$$ for it (which normally wouldn't have sold in this current housing slump).

3) Part of the deal to go through with the project required that a number of SCHOOLS also be built in the area, not just hotels and retail stores. In all, it's going to be a renaissance of sorts for the area.

4) I've complained about the negatives on this blog before. Those include the traffic (Flatbush and Atlantic is bad enough). The small shop owners were complaining about the competition, but that's already the case. My own complaint was the fact that I was being outbid by all the Jews (no offence); not enough minorities are getting a piece of the pie. SO IT'S A GOOD LOOK THAT JAY OF ALL PEOPLE IS IN ON IT.

New apartments are needed so blacks have a place to go, since we're losing our brownstones.

As far as 50, yes a large part of his money comes outside of rap but I don't think you understand how the game works. Remember he made over 60 million his first year, before he had all this outside investments. He owns G-Unit records and sees 50% of all profits from that. So Buck, Yayo, Game, Banks, made him about 75 million before tax and expenses. He also sells out entire arenas of 20,000-30,000 people and at $50-500 a ticket, that adds up to a lot of money. Vitamin water just was the biggest lump sum, but most money still comes from the rapping.

Like I said already, this is "business-as-usual." So far it's been the battle between the team owners and the city getting their demands met. We who stand to benefit are looking on and trying to make deals. The businesses want their presence felt, and people like myself are bidding to design and build their structures. It's a constant toss up with the Buildings Commission BUT THE ARENA IS A DONE DEAL, SCHEDULED TO OPEN IN 2 YEARS. Various groups had brought their complaints to the city. But all that has basically been resolved because the city wants this deal to work.

As far as who is being relocated, understand that the area is far from a slum. My office is a few blocks away. This is a middle-class area and Park Slope and Brooklyn Heights (even more affluent) is adjacent. They declared this the Two Kings dinner in New Orleans and the star-studded list of invitees included NBA owners and stars, music label executives and A-list performers. Jay-Z talked of a tomorrow when these two monuments to music and basketball will transform the rules of engagement for the iconic performer, one witness said. He talked of making history.

For the Cavaliers officials watching, there had to be something of a collective gulp. They have been uneasy witnesses to a dance between James and Jay-Z, a bond between a generation’s most celebrated entertainer and athlete. These two spend a lot of time together – traveling, talking and sharing big ideas.

What’s unnerving to Cleveland is that Jay-Z happens to be a part owner of the New Jersey Nets with unlimited access to James’ heart, mind and ambitions. Of course, the Nets are plotting a move to a sparkling new arena in Brooklyn, perhaps as soon as the 2011-2012 season. They’re clearing cap space and planning a pursuit of James when he can opt out of his contract in the summer of 2010.

Cleveland officials won’t talk about James and Jay-Z, but if you were wondering about the franchise’s fear of losing him to the brighter lights and bigger city, understand that the trade owner Dan Gilbert and general manager Danny Ferry made had everything to do with winning now and crushing James’ concerns that Cleveland is unable to surround him with a championship cast.

LeBron doesn’t want to just win titles. His stated wants include becoming sport’s first billionaire athlete. Among his advisors, he counts Warren Buffet. Jay-Z has helped James focus his mind on chasing something bigger than basketball. The question will be this: For the kid out of Akron, will his hometown – will even winning – be enough to hold onto LeBron James?

So yes, Sonny Vaccaro has been fascinated to study the burgeoning partnership since the days Jay-Z – whose real name is Shawn Carter – visited James at Vaccaro’s high school All-American camp in New Jersey. Vaccaro is responsible for some of the most profound marketing marriages in basketball history. He sold Nike on paying college coaches to be billboards for shoe companies, on spending everything they had on North Carolina’s Michael Jordan. When everyone else believed Jordan had a chance to be an excellent pro player, Vaccaro was convinced he would be transcendent for the company.

Vaccaro is out of the game, but forever connecting and consulting with those shaping the landscape. If nothing else, he is sure of this: In two years, Cleveland could be fighting a perfect storm of circumstances.

“I think that LeBron will have to look long and hard about leaving Cleveland,” Vaccaro said. “Dan Gilbert and the city have embraced him. They’ve done everything they can to make a championship-type trade. Danny Ferry did a good job with that. Jay-Z is a Grammy Award-winning rapper, the ex-president of a record label, a club owner, a clothier, a hotelier. Now, he has started a new ad company – Translation Advertising. This is the kind of fortune, the kind of legacy, that James is chasing for the long run.

This drive and determination isn’t lost on Gilbert, the Cavaliers owner who absorbed several million more dollars in salary and luxury tax with the trade that brought Ben Wallace, Joe Smith, Wally Szczerbiak and Delonte West to the team on Thursday.

James initially sounded cautious about the trade. After a blowout victory over Memphis on Sunday night, James gushed over its promise. Ferry delivered James shooting and the ultimate wildcard, Wallace. If Wallace has nothing left from his Detroit days, this deal could be doomed. Still, Cleveland feared the status quo in the East. Between the Cavs and the conference’s two best teams, Boston and Detroit, the gap has grown too profound.

Two years ago, the Cavaliers heard Jay-Z’s public position on LeBron’s future and could only imagine what might be said in private. When asked about the possibility of him someday joining the franchise, the Nets’ part-owner paid no mind to league tampering rules and gushed, “How amazing would that be? I tell people all the time, he’s my friend first. If Cleveland is building a championship team around him then my advice is to stay there. If it’s the Nets who are building a championship team that could be around him then my advice is to come to the Nets.”

The league office noticed the comments, but never leveled a fine for tampering. What can Cleveland do? Complain? No chance the Cavs will try to tell James who his friends can be, especially when they pre-date his days in the NBA.

When it comes to branding, nothing and nowhere could be bigger for James’ global profile than becoming the King of New York. There has always been a belief that his endorsement deals, including Nike, include clauses that trigger bigger payouts if James lands in a major market.

The Nets are clearing cap space for a free-agent class that includes James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, but James is the unmistakable target. So much so, the Nets have an internal business plan for the move into the new Brooklyn arena that includes a modest section on his eventual recruitment, estimates of his marketing worth and the salary-cap space that needs to be cleared for his signing.

This is the kind of advanced planning every team does, but there’s a credibility to the Nets’ pursuit that comes out of Jay-Z’s relationship. As for changing the landscape as iconic branders, it was no coincidence that James showed up at a New York-Cleveland American League division series game in October wearing a Yankees cap. Whatever calls of traitor ensued in Cleveland, the deed was done: Suddenly, the world identified LeBron as a Yankees fan.

Mere months later, Nike has a LeBron-Yankees shoe planned for March release. For those wanting to believe James is setting the stage for a move to the big city, the line of shoes does forward the idea that he wants to be identified with New York.

Between now and the summer of 2010, this promises to be a fascinating story line. Jay-Z has opened LeBron James’ mind to looking far beyond basketball, beyond the traditional journeys to superstardom. Together, they talked about changing everything for the global icon. Between now and 2010, the Cavaliers have to sell LeBron James that all that can still happen in Cleveland.

That is Aftermath and Shady Records' distribution company, yeah, but he has a contract that binds him to them and also gives them semi- say-so in his music that he releases. To my knowledge, from GRODT, 50 has never had a contract renewal, he originally signed a 5 contract album deal in 2001. And I gonna along with you having a distribution deal (yeah, ok), but every deal is different so how can you say 50's distribution is exactly the same as yours, especially when at the time of him signing, he was being partially funded by Shady Records and Aftermath Entertainment..... and you are funded by you, i presume??? When "The Re-Up" project came out from Shady Records, 50 was on there as an artist under the label, even though he is his own boss over at G-Unit Records. Why you think he lets Young Buck, Yayo, and Mobb Deep have they own labels..... so they can be they own bosses and not have to answer to him all the time, the same way he answers to Dre, Em, and Iovine. Their contract with Ecko was up and 50 wanted to go in a different creative direction (hence the new hoodies / shirts in the I get money video) He's switching manufacturers/distributors not "folding the clothing line'. When you make a deal for distribution, unless you sign an EXCLUSIVITY agreement, meaning you can't work with any other distributors, you can release cd's all they want. I explained earlier that sometimes the distributor wants a percent of the company (like diddy sold 50% of badboy to get distribution) or they just ask for a plain profit sharing agreement. You keep moving onto different things, that you don't even realize prove my point.

No, but I wouldn't mind having his guap and influence. That nigga has a lot of pull here. He's one of the few things that makes Chicago's west side relevant for Black people. Otherwise, most outsiders would think that the only place that Blacks do anything positive here is on the South Side. Georges and McArthur's are the few good Black business left on Chicago's west side. The rest are being gentrified and swallowed up. The Hindus have pushed most of the Blacks out to the street corners by Madison and Pulaski hustling Air Force 1's and CD/DVD's. What left of Black owned shit is being moved further South. I'm only going to entertain this conversation because someone may be listening that is looking to enter management at some point. I of course indulge their competitiveness. I love incentives and giving them. Some don't need it, but it does drive more business my way. My top two guys are going to a hockey game and also out to Red Lobster for dinner afterwards. If we win the quarterly award as a team, I'm taking everyone to either a White Sox or Cubs game. I'll let them decide because I'm a Sox fan but I manage a few Cubs guys. There is nothing immature about that. I was only pointing out a character flaw in Mr. Real Talk consistent with members of my team. I hope that helps you understand a little about me. In the end, it makes me no difference but I thought it worth it to indulge your line of judgement.

Yes that many be true to a small degree but this is the US; 4 days is way too long to respond. When another natural disaster hit in Asia he was "Johnny on the spot" after 1 day and that shit is damm near half away around the world.

There was no excuse for this. He let people die becasue he does not value the Black and poor citizens of America. This is why as Governor of Texas he exclusively fried the Black and the poor and this is also why he refused to sign a hate crime bill after the dragging death of James Byrd.

Trust me; I am not a Game Fan. I think the name dropping is annoying as hell too. He is a good MC but his format needs to change. My only point was that Lloyd Banks called The Game, Broke. 50 said the Game would be worst off without him and that his team (banks and Buck) would do better than Game. And it appears to me that Game is doing just fine and much better than both Banks and Buck. And by the way homie; he did go plat on the second joint. Those figure you references are old as hell. Almost 18 months ago that nigga was at 925 and was selling abiut 9 to 10 a week. You don't think in 18 months he did n't pick up anoth 75; come one. And even if it stayed stuck at 925; which I doubt seriously; 50 is only at 1.1 after all that Kanye-so hoopla bullshit. With all that buzz 50 should at least be at 2 and counting Ye.

And to be honest I did like the second joint better. It reminded me of the old classic West Coast shit. Was it great; no but I thought his first joint over-rated too. I am nit a fan. Nas and Hov are my dudes.

I am just saying that Game said those cats over at G-Unit (with the execption of 50) were starving and that he is much better off not being over there and the numbers appear support him more than Banks and 50.

I mean at least one cat on 50's team should be on that list as much as they brag about money don't you think?

Well brother you are a perfect example of what I said about diplomas and intelligence. Your intellect far surpass half of the cats I know with Ed.D's or Ph.D's. I use to hide my credentials on Sohh until a good sista friend of mine told me that was dumb to do.
