A new year. And a new magazine to read just in time for the '08. I see they put a real rapper on the cover for the March issue. Looks like someone's change of heart came too late.
After years and years of annoying and childish front-page editorials, nearly an entire year (was it '04 or '05?) of sucking the ball sacks off of Interscope and G-Unit with redundant front-page features, and sabotaging the pages of the now folded Scratch Magazine, Yellow N*gga is now kicked off of team XXL. Now, our only fear is where he'll end up next. I can hear journalists and label heads alike whispering about him with their eyes nervously switching back and forth like he's a monster waiting to attack from just beyond the hillside. Grab your boxes. You might be nexted.
I can hear it now: 'YN didn't do in Scratch Magazine. Sales were already on the decline.' While this may be true, the "new" Scratch only helped to turn away faithful readers, and thus accelerated the collapse and left it lying flat on the floor with a "stamp of sellout" sticker on the front page.
You know, I thought I was buggin out about that whole "pay-off from Iovine" ordeal until I heard Immortal Technique say: "Al-Queda and America been doing business well/ They're tighter than Interscope and XXL."
Speaking of music, when cleaning his cubicle, he might want to pack up the copy of that sorry XXL music compilation he had the nerve to push into stores.
I can already hear you crying already; get mad if you want. I don't give a f*ck. I have no respect for homey. That year-long Interscope/G-Unit episode that plagued about every cover of that corny magazine is what helped to set the trend for what most hip-hop magazines represent now: Strictly advertising and marketing. If you turn the pages of about any hip-hop mag, there is no content, no real rappers, no nothing-- just pure garbage, who's hot for the moment (not who has longevity and who has done something for the rap game), and who will bring in the most revenue for the month. I have madd throwbacks of The Source to prove the difference. I can read those and stay interested. Although the internet has taken over, there is no excuse for the poor job these magazines have been doing these days. Today's magazines are ads with paragraphs inserted in them. Artists might as well start paying to get a feature.
You know it's funny, because they say that The Source fell off, when really, XXL was only about ten pages thicker, give or take. At least, the last time I checked.

2. Getting involved with the G-Unit Beef

In a few years magazines will be a thing of the past like cassette tapes and Cds.

A magazines sole purpose is to advertise and inform consumers. The fact that they had a year of G Unit on the cover is not a bad thing as at the time that is what was hot. No one on this website, not Gyant or any SOHH editor, or even any readers of this article can say anything about running a successful multi million dollar magazine as none of you have done anything like that. Get your mind right and get the fuck out there and do your own business deals, stop picking apart other people for trying !
