And by the way, Saigon spoke to SOHH about his album push-back. The Greatest Story Never Told will not be hitting shelves until next year. The further along they delay it, the more the name of the album seems like a curse.

According to BET, Lil Whoopi hit the stage to spit the first verse off of Hov's "Hello Brooklyn," then called himself "the next rapper in line"-- a steep downgrade from his arrogant-- and very inaccurate-- proclamation as "the best rapper alive."
I guess f*cking with a real rapper who's been doing it big for over a decade-- consistently (key word: consistently)-- will do that to you. You run your mouth that much just to get invited by your so-called competition to spit a verse on his track only to do a half-ass job? LOL @ yourself.
Then moving on to the more important segment of the show, Hov brought the kid Jadakiss on the stage during "Roc Boys," announcing: "Ya'll already know Memph, ya'll already know Beans, ya'll already know Free. But what ya'll don't know... Ruff Ryder, Roc-A-Fella, Roc Boys, Jadakiss is in the building."
Hmmm. What we want to know is, is the ink still drying? Or does the line have yet to be signed?
In addition to the Young Gunz-- who I didn't know still existed-- performing "Can't Stop Won't Stop," Freeway, Memphis Bleek, and Beanie Sigel showing face, and Diddy stepping on stage for 50's "I Get Money remix," Hov did a dedication for Kanye West's late mother, Donda West, with a moment of silence. He also performed "Jigga My N*gga," "Big Pimpin," and other classics.
So Hov still knows how to put on a show. And sell over 400K the first week. Good sh*t.

I hate Bush's political, domestic and international, policies, but I'm not dumb enough...or biased enough, to not recognize how "powerful" he's made himself and how ambitious his policies are.
The same goes with 50. In no way can you say he sucks. "Curtis" wasn't a bad album. True, it was marketed horribly, songs were leaked, weak songs were pushed to the forefront, ill songs were censored and swiss cheesed up, and even better songs were cast aside all together. If you think 50 sucks, listen to "Sabrina's Baby Boy" the mixtape. Same guy, same pen, but entirely better album.
"Still Kill," Man Down," Moving On Up," "Fully Loaded Clip," "I Get Money," "Curtis 187," "All of Me" and even the smoothed out "Follow My Lead" are great songs. That's 8 songs from his album that easily top the average rapper's current material. Anyone saying otherwise is just blinded by their bandwagon-fueled bias.
I'm not even going to speak on Wayne. He's the most polarizing individual in the game now, igniting debates on issues ranging from artistry, authenticity, ambition, and even homosexuality. Dude's going down in history for making an entire culture look at itself and self-analyze.

I've been listening to that "American Gangster" intensly for the past week. I've come to the conclusion that the 75% of the best albums grow on you instead of instantly grabbing you in. So based on that definition, it has also defined itself to me as "grown folks" music.

The African-American past is an iceberg, still 90 percent submerged. Because so much material remains in family hands or lies piled in the unvisited attics and basements of libraries, newspapers, and even police stations, rich discoveries await. Currie Ballard, a historian in Oklahoma, has just made what he calls “the find of a lifetimeâ€â€”29 cans of motion picture film dating from the 1920s that reveal the daily lives of some remarkably successful black communities.
The film shows them thriving in the years after the infamous Tulsa Riot of 1921, in which white mobs destroyed that city’s historic black Greenwood district, which was known as the Black Wall Street of America. Through the flickering eloquence of silent film we see a people resilient beyond anyone’s imagining, visiting one another’s country homes, parading through downtown Muskogee in some two dozen Packards, crowding an enormous church in Tulsa not long after the riots, during a gathering of the National Baptist Convention.
Indeed, this extraordinary archive exists because someone at the powerful National Baptist Convention assigned the Rev. S. S. Jones, a circuit preacher, to document the glories of Oklahoma’s black towns, Guthrie, Muskogee, and Langston. Reverend Jones surely has a way with a camera as he comes in close on the animated faces of his neighbors, sweeps wide to track black cowboys racing across a swath of ranch land, or vertically pans up the skyscraper-high oil derricks owned by the Ragsdale family, whose wells produced as much as a thousand barrels a day. We know the names of these families and others because typed labels accompany each of the eight-minute cans, and onscreen titles introduce the various segments.
This is a historian’s dream, more than four hours of never-before-seen film that is engaging, intimate, and shown in its full context, incorporating names, dates, and places. And Reverend Jones even traveled (as reflected in those 29 cans of film but not in the excerpts here) to Kansas City, Denver, Arkansas, and even Paris and Marseilles to film life there.
Ballard admits that he mortgaged his life away when the opportunity arose to acquire this treasure. Now he’s hoping to find an appropriate institution to take it over and transfer the highly unstable film to disk, a costly operation. He wants the world to view this material, to make people aware that only 60 years after emancipation, and in the shadow of one of the nation’s most violent and destructive race riots, these people persevered and built anew. Perhaps someone out there, watching this, right now, will take the lead.

I'm a 50 and Jay fan and the truth is 50 sold more than Jay BECAUSE of the buzz surrounding him and Kanye at the time. Neither Kanye or 50 would have sold as much without that Publicity stunt. People treated that shit like it was an election.
Jay didn't have nearly as strong of a marketing scheme. And I would consider Chris Brown and Cassidy decent competition. Especially Chris Brown.
Bottom line - Neither one of them flopped. Jay has gotten extremely good reviews for this album so you can expect to good numbers coming from this album long after the first week.
