Nas' "N*gga" Album Doesn't Exist, Cassidy Follows in The Game's Doomed Footsteps, Hov's Tracklisting, & Busta goes Retro with New Album

Foxnews reported that the announcement Nas made during his performance at Sneaker Pimps last Friday was a fraud. Nasir told the audience that his new album would be called "N*gga." Not so, says a "source" that is supposedly "close" to IDJ's L.A Reid:

"There is no album release by Nas on the release schedule at this point. And they would be unlikely to release an album with that title. How would that look at Wal-Mart?"
Why didn't Reid himself or someone more credible-- with a name-- make this statement? Who is this person?

But when giving a name like "N*gga" more thought, it's true that a record label would probably throw a tantrum, protest, kick and scream, and then finally shelve an album before they allowed something like that. Maybe if it was 1998.

Remember this? (As seen in the "Best of '06" edition)

"As far as my release date, November 14th, and Jay dropping on the 21st, he should move his album away. Like Jay is a legend, we all love Jay and respect Jay but it's that out of retirement album," The Game told SOHH.com almost exactly a year ago [10-18-06]. "[Everyone's wondering] are we gonna get the old Michael Jordan back or are gonna get that Mike that played for the Wizards; so everyone's is gonna wait to see what he's gonna do --- but I know what I got."

"It's sort of like poker. When you know you got a royal flush it doesn't even matter what the rest of the players got, cause once I lay these cards out the f*cking game is over and that's just how it is," Game continued. "So with Jay being a week behind me, Jay's gotta worry about Snoop [Dogg] and vice versa cause they're dropping on the same day. Me, I got my own day and a whole 7 days to sell a million records and I might outsell them the second week, who knows."

For the record, The Game didn't lift a million albums the first week, or even 500,000. Or 400,000. He only did 3 and change. And when all was said and done-- despite his vow to sell "another 5 million" as he nearly did with his debut album, he only sold... just over a million in total.

Now, exactly one year later, Hov is dropping yet another album, and Cassidy is next in line to ether himself:

"I think right now, the way that I got the hood on smash and the way that my song is poppin' off, I don't think it would be a smart decision for Hov to drop on November 6," Cassidy told SOHH in regards to dropping his B.A.R.S the same day as American Gangster.

"[Amercican Gangster] ain't like when [The Blueprint] Vol. 1 or Vol. 2 was gonna drop, it's a lot different."

I agree with the last sentence. And I won't go any further than that. We'll see what happens; The Game has barely been heard of ever since.

And by the way, here is the tracklisting to American Gangster:
1. Intro
2. Pray
3. American Dreamin'
4. Hello Brooklyn 2.0 feat. Lil Wayne
5. No Hook
6. Roc Boys (And The Winner Is)…
7. Sweet
8. I Know
9. Party Life
10. Ignorant Sh*t feat. Beanie Sigel
11. Say Hello
12. Success feat. Nas
13. Fallin'
BONUS TRACKS
14. Blue Magic
15. American Gangster

I haven't had any news on Busta Rhymes in a LONG time.

The last time a lot of us saw Busta, he was rocking the stage during the tribute for A Tribe Called Quest during the VH1 Hip-hop Honors:

As we speak, Busta is in the works of releasing his latest effort, Back on My BS, which he says will be packed with that golden age hip-hop sound.

He told Rollingstone:

"...people haven't seen the Busta Rhymes that they have grown to know and love. Not that they haven't been getting the traditional party records, 'cause I always do that better than anything, but the whole thing when I come out with the outfits, the hat, the coat.

I'm promising the same track record I always set for myself, which is the phenomenal collaborations that people don't usually do before I do 'em, to continue as a legacy. You can definitely expect something super duper stellar. Hot energy joints and songs that are a little bit more approachable aren't going to feel as dark, even though I got a lot of situations to talk about, 'cause of the last year. I still have so much to be happy for."

I'm trying to be optimistic. But it's hard... especially with this rampage of his [watch].

And what happened to When Hell Freezes Over?

SOHH, please hire someone else do these blogs. It's bad enough to have the game in the stage it's in, but the birth place of hip-hop doesn't need an incompetent person like this leading the NYC blog. It's making us look bad.

Statements like, "No. You did f*ck up. And if you f*ck up this one, you'll lose a lot of your respect" about jewels like Kingdom Come are just ridiculous. Anyone with a real mind or love for hip-hop knows he didn't fuck up. It was just on some serious grown man shit which clearly went over the heads of your typical "dumb nigga" like this clown here.

================================

The game's fucked up
Nigga's beats is bangin, nigga your hooks did it
Your lyrics did and your gangster look did it
So I would write it if y'all could get it
Bein intricate'll get you wood, critic
On the internet, they like you should spit it
I'm like you should buy it, nigga that's good business
- "The Prelude" by Jay-Z (Kingdom Come)

================================

People who don't know good NYC rap shouldn't be writing about it. Don't bitch about the ring tone rappers then act a fool when that real shit comes along.

Shout to my nigga Faz, Brooklyn Stand up! Hovi's ready to bring em out!

I WILL BET ANY AMOUNT OF MONEY WEEZY KILLED BETTER THAN HOV ON DAT TRACK

i agree with that game comment but that nigga only sold a little over 800k and any time jay drop its the most anticipated cause every since he said he was finna drop the whole world been on his nuts and for cassidy he just need some type of attition shit swiss beats had like the hottest songs of the summer and he still flopped cass only gone move about 75,000 units and maybe 275k total and jay gone move about 600k and like 2mill total

I'm trying to be optimistic. But it's hard... especially with this rampage of his [watch].

Are you kidding me?

Dude was just droppin some knowledge on the game

It's hard to believe that Busta Rhymes has been on the hip hop scene since '90 -'91 and the nigga is still relevant!

http://cyberthugs.wordpress.com

Is that tracklisting for real !?
I mean Jay and Wayne on the same track, damn Jay lost some more points in my book, how come your gonna do a song with gay ass Wayne?

If the car crash didn't lay the hustler down, going up against Jay-Z sales prolley will.

Bus aint gotta prove shit to nobody at this point. Having a 10+ year career and still mattering is enough to get him props, especially in a day and age where "the nigga bringing real hip-hop back" doesn't even respect A Tribe Called Quest.

I think it's good for hip-hop for Hov and Weezy to do a record together, kill all that b.s. North vs. South shit. And y'all nuccas up there talkin bout Hov getting "Renegaded" again...... last time he got "Renegaded", the nigga came out with 300 million. Ya average nigga gets outshined on his own track and the nigga who did the most shining eats the best. Hov gets outshined and eats MORE than the other dude. I don't really think it's about props no more for Hov. All y'all talking bout Hov don't do shit for nobody...... if he on the track with Weezy, Weezy gonna do a Em and become one of ya Top 5 greatest MCs, for those who doubted his consistancy (like me). ONE

I agree with the pride of new york....

kingdom come was the grown man side of jay, and lot of these cats couldn't digest this album. The man clearly said he's all grown up, but most y'all cats still in ya second childhood, huh?

jay wasn't lying when he said the game's f*cked up....

Jay-Z ft. Weezy fuckin Baby?
If Jigg likes it I love it but dude been taking shots at the thrown and at Nas I don't think it is a good move but this could be a great song like Renegade oh and for all those who say that Eminem (Detroit Finest) killed him on that track just gased off that Nas jab he had to throw at Jig and he made u believe did u not listen to that second verse Jigg bounced back swiftly
I had ta hustle

The same way niggaz started dissin Ja Rule for singing after 50 dissed him, is the same way niggaz started saying Eminem merked Jay on his
song, after Nas said it. Another example of that shit is with LL can Canibus - if you think LL had better lyrics than Canibus you crazy. if you think so, how come most niggaz can recite Canibus' lyrics to 2nd round KO but don't know any words from LL's diss song?

Fuck "skimmin threw rap music", do niggaz actually think for themselves or do rappers tell you what to think?

You all know the answer to that question.

Compared to "BE", "Finding Forever is trash"

Ok but I said the best album this year not his best ever..

"Do you actually read the comments or do you just skim through them?"

And I'd put Like Water For Chocolate as his best

@ Slum Lord
I've been addressing this issue for years.
Canibus beat LL hands down. and it was actually quite easy. What LL came back with cannot even be considered defense. But people started listening to rappers and the true outcome of the battle was lost in Industry and gossippy politics. Someone said I'll do you like LL did canibus but that nigga would get chewed by Canibus too. I even talk about this in one of my tracks on my upcoming album. I said

"Real niggas know that canibus beat LL Real niggas never get caught inside a jail cell"

As far as Weezy and Hov that should be very entertaining. Weezy try harder when he rhime with quality artists.

@ X-Factah and Slum Lord

I'ts hard to say which Common album is the best. I think there are too many hot ass tracks and they are spread out over the last 14 years and Five albums.

The Realest Shit So Far.

cas was my dude last year killin all the mixtapes and stuff, but after a scary comment about not battlin joe budden, then taking shots at t.i. and lil wayne he bitches out!!
now how can a dude scared of rap conflict say ne thing to the god mc????

like hov said
"if i aint better than big, im the closes one!"
as far as havin weezy f baby on a track , cool wit me weezy is that deal but hov gon show him since he sai it himself he's the best since the best rapper aint retired, dig?
ll is a damn fool canibus ate his ass for breakfast!! hov will offically end ll rap career!
American Gangsta will be another jay classic look at history
reasonalable-classic
vol.1-not-
vol.2- classic
vol.3-

blueprint-classic
blueprint 2- not
black album- classic
kingdom come-not
so whats next? ask yourself of course hov rebounds wit classic!!!

its the roc!!
be on the look out for jadakiss on the roc too!

Mostly All the Hip Hop Purest Niggas don't give a fuck about unit solds and numbers but Game telling Hov to push his shit back was some of the Dumbest shit I ever heard in my fuckin life. That nigga is talented as a mothafucka but he is also one of the biggest fuckin idiots in this Hip Hop shit.

Game barely made it to Plat status. I keep telling yall Hov just keep setting these lil niggas up time and time again. Hov ether these cats and don't even stay around to see the body drop to the ground. He just keep flowing.
I wonder why Hov never gets praised for his business intelligence. Shit his understudy just smashed this whole Hip Hop shit with his large # of unit solds, since niggas are in to numbers so much.

And by the way, I love Cassidy as an MC. As a battle rapper he is the illest in the Game, period. But "My drink and my 2 step" joint sucks ass. He needs to learn from Game's mistake and not mention Hov's name.

Game's album is fire and again fuck the numbers but he could have moved more units if he had not said that dumb shit about Hov. See what these niggas are too dumb to see is that other cats have a fan base too and they may be ready to copp your shit but once you diss their dude they say fuck you.

So Cassidy, your single is wack as hell so just fall back and stop saying dumb shit. I mean damm how many niggas do Hov have to shut the fuck down in order to see that fucking with Hov is a bad idea. Cats need to wise up.

Busta was actually saying some real shit on that video though.

co-sign. Eminem just had a more entertaining verse but Hov killed it. You can't tell these dumb niggas that. They follow whatever a rapper says (i.e. Mike Jones phone number). "The game's fucked up."

Jay-Z and Lil Wayne on the same track? I can dig it. Plus you keep your friends close and your enemies closer!!! Plus it's all about the money at the end of the day!!!

Game got gassed off his hype like the reason the documentary sold what it did cuz G-Unit was in its prime n just about everybody on G-Unit was selling and Dre knew that thats why he put him on G-Unit in the first place. Cass is tryna pull a Knaye n get sales from Hov haters but the diff is Kanye has a solid fan base Cass dont. and wheres dead presidents pt. 3 on the american gangster tracklist..thats like the best sh*t from Hov i heard n a while. Perfect example love it hell yeah he killed LL ass LL came wit it but Canibus is THE BEST LYRICALLY and I say that being a die hard Jigg and Nas fan they make better songs but they r my favorite MC's nobody on this planet earth is fuckin wit that freak of nature Canibus and yeah back when I was younger I was foolish and choose sides and jumped on the 50 bandwagon but music is music and in this music business they build your stock up to make that bitch plummet like the 87 stock market crash if u do one thing that they don't approve of it is a fucked up inevitable cycle of life. Poet Laureate Infinity could possibly be one of Canibus greatest works and in comp with Common and Mr. West for the CD of the year until I hear American Gangsta and Jigg deliver Blueprint and Reasonalbe Doubt rolled in one fat ass blunt for us fans to take a hit of.

i think they need to get those new york record labels out of new york and close them down, and opean up labels in other states and find new talent. cause all the new york storys have allready been told everybody knows what gos on in new york ,and its the same shiit over and over.i wanna here talent from nj ,ct,philly,mami,and other places, even tho hip hop was started in ny doesnt mean hip hop has to revolve around ny.theirs people all over the usa that can make good hip hop .just cause something was started some where doesnt mean ny can use that and try to get more props.kinda like find out where the sport basketball was first started, than find out who won last years nba champ.no what im saying??? thats no voice on it, and also i dont think biggie and pac was the best rappers it seems like people like them cause they got shot and killed, when i think of best rappers i think of nas,wu tang,big pun,redman,eminem.

I agree 100%. That's why you have so many niggas from there that don't even deserve a deal. Them niggas are just riding the coattails of the legends that are from NY. Nas Jay, 50 Cent - cool, them niggas deserve it. But why the FUCK does Hell Rell have a video on BET??? They actually thought someone would buy an album from Sheek Louch? Why is Mobb Deep even still being acknowledged by hip-hop publications? Who the hell decided to give Papoose a 1.5 mil deal off of mixtapes? (and regional mixtapes at that)

No hating here - I love NY hip-hop. I think Rakim is dope as fuck, and I still listen to Ready to Die. But some of these bottom of the barrel niggas are sliding in the door behind the legends just because the labels have an office in NY.

Been gone for a minute but I got to way in on some real shit. T.I. stupid ass shit. Can-I-bus ate LL ass wit each line in that song. How nigga's relating to what EM spit verses what Jay spit on Renagade. Em ill as hell but the shit Jay spit was about the blackman struggle and nigga's fronting like Em killed Jay. What shoes can any blackman picture themselves in when relating to Renegade. Jay shoes or EM. EM can't experiance our struggle on this earth and in this white man's world. So how can nigga's say he killed Jay. Deep down inside ya'll know ya'll only saying that shit cause Nas said that bullshit. I still argue wit my nigga's about that song. These the same nigga's that was saying Jay the nicest after B.I. and Nas. Now these same nigga's talking about Weezy better than Jay. I hate when nigga's switch up they beliefs like the weather. Ain't no MC, business man fucking wit Jay. Nas suppose to have more money than he do. Pac was letting Suge rape him. Who know's what B.I. was doing wit his shit remembering he sold half of his publishing to Puff for 250,000 when he was recording Ready to Die. Jay been on that level in his career that most of these nigga's wish they were, LL, Meth, Nas, DMX, Wu, Wanye, Etc.... As far as real Hip Hop nigga's know Jay that dude hands down!!!! Kingdom Come was a hot ass album, like damn near every album Jay drop. One-

He's the problem with your argument: D4L did set the record with ring tones - that mean someone likes them and someone is buying them. Their album went gold, their first single went Gold, and Laffy Taffy single sold 2 million. Ain't NOBODY letting them slide, because people are buying their shit. Dem Franchize Boyz - Gold. Trillville first album - Gold. Souljah Boy did all the beats himself and sold 115,000 the first week.

Like them dudes or not, they obviously have a fan base. Ghostface, DipSet and others - them dudes get a hell of a lot of press for some people who don't move any units.

As far as labels - that's a moot point dude, because all of the parent companies are still there. Want an example? Look at Ludcaris. He started DTP, but you still have to get a major to back the artists on your roster. I-20 isn't NY-ish and he isn't a dance rapper, so nobody wants him because he doesn't have a gimmick. Look at Slim Thug - dude has/had a roster of rappers that could rap about anything, not just candy paint. He's catching hell trying to get a major to back him. It's deeper than just starting your own label.

@Brooklyn B

I just shot Saul Paul a message, so he might pop up. I "cc'd" you just because. I'm bout to send you that one song...aight?

@PZ

Real Recognize Real = RapIsAlive = the only dude that can call you Bible Boy without you taking it personal. LOL

@QC Finest

So basically it isn't about "talking about something", it's more about the kind of music you prefer. Just because you can't relate doesn't mean it's BS. Also, If talking about something is all that matters, why do you care if the producer left Little Brother? I buy Common and Dre 3000, so I agree with you there.

I'm not even going to comment on how you called Z-Ro and Killer Mike inconsistent, but then named Talib Kweli. Quality was tight, but Kweli's Beautiful Struggle was a mediocre ass album and you know it. I'm not from NY homie - never said I was. I was just speaking based on a lot of dudes that I've met from that area.

@Real

What's goin on homey! You in ATL right?

@ real recognize real

poin taken, Talib's beautiful struggle was average, i focus on true lyrical skill, delivery and flow. As an artist, their job thru rhyming is not only to make one relate, but understand. These southern rappers don't care or respect that, and that's why i don't suppot 98% of this crap down here.
As far as the up top comment, name one rapper that's from up top, that NEVER claimed to move work or weight down south. When i made that comment, i wasn' taiming at ya, but if I hit ya then i promise that I didn't mean to miss ya.

Distribution.
Thats the game.
Master P is a genius, too bad he has no rappers in his camp now, but that WalMart deal was smart as hell.
That nigga Prince probably the biggest PIMP of them all, distributes his shit himself over the net, thats innovation.
But in order to distribute yourself you need to be a brand.

When your looking for distribution, u have to convince the majors that your worth it. Some use gimmicks that attract the nickelodeon graduates, others use rhymes, Nas=780 000 units sold. Seriously, forget all this NIGGA stuff, this fool really doesn't need any promo, a real artist to the fullest, his last album title was dissing the state of the game, and still outsold ALL them gimmick rappers. Do u think he needs to jump around like a monkey, dancing with gas cans and snapping his fingers in front of a bunch of corporate suits, trying to convince them he's worth the distribution? Souljah Boy probably danced his way into their offices.

So sorry if I dont respect these coons

Wayne is truly the hoe of the industry. He will do a song with anybody. I just hope he steps up, and doesnt come with that nonsense shit.

And Im gettin real tired of the south. I would have thought this "trend" of wack southern rappers would have gone away, but they just keep finding worse and worse niggas. Dont get me wrong, there is alot of good southern rap, but these labels keep signing anybody with a accent and a grill. I dont care what nobody says, 98% of these rappers people think are hot and people think are "sellin records" will not exist in a few years. Most these southerners dont care about music, they just wanna get paid.

wheres saigon or floposse,,is gay-z all what new yorkers got to look forward,,new york is back... my asssss..fuk outta here wit dat shit lolzzz

@ smokey

You talkin bout convincing majors into distribution, but majors follow trends. They go by what is hot at that very moment. So labels arent lookin for some new shit, they just want the same old bullshit cause they think its trendy. Over the next couple of years, there will be 30 more Gucci Mane/Jeezys, 25 more Lil Jons, 30 more imitations of 3 6 Mafia, 50 more Chris Browns, 40 more T pains, etc.etc.etc. But most of them will flop. Then the label will realize kanye sold a mil in one week, and then every rapper is gonna be dressed like Urkel.

you making like cause NY got the companies thats why_____again i dont know whats the basis of your comment, you cant say thats why NY get so much shine cause we dont, thats why NY get so much spins cause thats not the case in certain cases. right now the only thing poppin off big is disposable music, unless u saying if there was companies in different states then there would be more artist with substance then all these one album deal signing ass brothers.

@PZ,

Yeah, still in that A.

Do you my nigga

@Kush City

I gotta agree 100% with that.

@Brooklyn B,

"unless u saying if there was companies in different states then there would be more artist with substance then all these one album deal signing ass brothers."

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm saying. When you have a company that's tapped into the area, they pick up on the real talent in that area - not the nigga with the hottest hit at the moment (which is why there are so many one album deals as you say)

The problem isn't with NY - it's with the companies not being familiar with all the untapped talent in other areas. They have people to check shit out, but as Kush City said, they're only looking for a clone of what's already hot.

JENNIFER LOPEZ has The WORST FLOP ALBUM of the Year - JLO'S BRAVE - opened with 53,000 albums sold, not even making the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 LOL. She's done... her over-hyped music career is finally OVER!!!! lol

But you dont think that would happen anyway? companies in general is about trends and fads, dont forget when the west was doing its thing companies jumped on that, all u had to say was im from the west or go to the company with converses on and u was getting signed, when eminem came out everyone wanted a white rapper and now that disposable music is "the shit" they on that wagon, it dont matter if them companies was in GA or NY shit it could be in ohio, the bottom line is they want money. theres alotta nice MC's in NY that gets no burn.
-
and i remember when i 1st heard outkast and goodie mob and i thought THATS what southern music would sound like what got burn "thats just my baby daddy" and shorty swing my way, is that because of companies being in NY? i dont see that cause if that was the case then your ludas and ti's and ugk wouldnt even have a deal, killer mike? that dude was BEEN supposed to sign to a major but it stuck it out with big boi's purple ribbon which isnt droppin no one.
-
ti got grand hustle with a brooklyn rapper on it....so nah, i dont get the whole if NY aint have the companies argument cause truthfully them MF'ers dont give a shit about NY'ers, blacks or hip hop

answer this question does cass have a classis album???? or how about even a classic song?

ok now answer this does hov have a classic album, or a classic song??

ok now who is bad business for coming out nov 6th? ummm full surface is gonna lose money this time and another casas album wil go over looked!!
its the roc ma fuckaz!!!

and no em did not eat hov on that song, yaw is nuts!!

hov said it the best
" do yaw listen to music or do u jus skim thru it?

@kush city

You're absolutely right. Let's just cut out the south completely, and deal with NY. That way all that wasted promo will go to such talented acts like MIMS, DipSet, Webstar and Young B. Gotta give more promo to Tony Yayo. After all, Swizz Beatz is one hell of a rapper. I'm sure everyone enjoys hearing Jae Millz go on and on about how hot he is, even though he's never even dropped an album. Nigga shut your dumb ass up it's garbage from every region. The only difference is the garbage from the south actually sells nationwide. Don't like it? Then tell your little sister and her friends to stop buying that bullshit.

The south only cares about selling albums? Nigga EVERY region cares only about selling albums. G-Unit and their drama. DipSet and their gimmicks. Jay-Z and his radio singles. Nas and his gimmicks. Ja Rule - no comment. Niggas make songs for one reason - to try to create a hit.

@Brooklyn B,

Yeah you make a good point. I agree with most of what you said, but the questions are still the same: How did Pap's no fan base having ass get 1.5 mil? How did Jae Millz manage to get signed twice? DipSet? Them garbage niggas are on because they're from NY. I'm going to be all the way real with you: Method Man, LL Cool J, Redman (I know Jersey) would all have been dropped from Def Jam 2 years ago if they weren't from up top. Why am I still reading articles about Joe Budden? The nigga first album flopped, and he hasn't dropped since.

No one writes articles about Pastor Troy's wack ass. No one goes on and on about what happened to Ghetto Mafia. Who talks about Juvenile's last album? The point is a lot of local talent seeps into national exposure via magazines, websites, and videos because the companies are located in NY. The garbage acts that are from here get noticed because they're actually selling.

@Real Recognize Real says...

I was trying to ignore that "we actually sell" but u keep saying it so imma ask u this, who is selling?
i live in GA now and dude alliance aka tat it up aka going digital sold acording to mrs shanika 600 copies not 600k copies, six hundred copies.
what happen to archie
the guys that made the pool palace song
shit roco (monica husband) he's a future flop
yola da great??? and he had a video on b.e.t
GA had the broad that made that rep ya high school song WHICH is the same beat as j-nicks song that goes "she got that gooood, she got that goood"
P troy been over, miricle, drama, lil zane

long story short there is a loooooooooong list of one hit wonders in atlanta, but it will seem like these rappers like jae millz and pap (who basically stalked k-saly for a deal and been in the game for a minute, i used to see him when me and my boys was posted on rockaway in brooklyn) get shine cause 1)your on a NY blog and your talking to NY'ers and 2) mixtape, battles, and that whole shit is active up top not cause of companies but because thats what we do, cause lets keep it a hunit atlanta artist get nothing BUT burn in GA so an outsider could say the same about out here, i get surprised when i here a up norf song down here

nah, not saying that, man u gonna have to skim through the old ones cause im bout to be out, but its about record companies and stuff i'll bring it up tomorrow

PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST, lol

@Brooklyn B,

You make a valid point, but you also prove my point for me. Let me clarify so we don't have any miscommunication on the mater. There are literally dozens of local acts from the south - some of which are garbage. The point I was making was the ones that everyone criticize are well known because well... they're selling. You mentioned The Alliance. How many people outside of Atlanta know who they are? If Yola Da Great wasn't temporarily affiliated with Grand Hustle, how many people even in the south would know who he was? Nobody knows who these cats are. You make a good point about this being a NY blog, but those dudes aren't just mentioned on here. WTF was Pap doing on the BET Awards with Styles P? That's my point dude. If you see a local and/or garbage southern artists on BET, he's probably selling. These local and/or garbage up top rappers get the same promo without selling shit. THAT'S the benefit I was talking about.

Bone Crusher, Bubba Sparxxx.... how fast did people forget their name when their album didn't sell? Bo Hagon? When was the last time you heard someone even mention that nigga outside of Greenbriar Mall. LOL Big Kuntry ain't no better, but no one knows who the hell he is either. Blak Jak who? Drive 30 mins outside of Decatur and see if anyone knows who dude is. Once his album didn't sell, he fell of the face of the earth.

@kush city,

I somewhat agree, but you actually think JEEZY is original? T.I. + Jay-Z + a few adlibs = Young Jeezy. As far as the ringtone rappers - well like I said, tell your little sister to stop buying that shit.

@Everyone

I like Lil Wayne, but he basically wasted that verse on Barry Bonds. All the fire verses he spit on Dedication 2... all the heat he spit on Da Drought... Why in the hell did he come that lazy on Kanye's CD?

I think Jeezy is semi original. In a way he is an imitation of.................Freeway. With the ad libs and the cadence of flow ,even to the subject matter, Jeezy bit Freeway tough. Jay prolly designed Jeezy's "image" to be a southern Freeway. The way jeezy is original is the fact that he really only talks about slangin. And alot of people cant relate to his shit, but when you headed out to the club after a long week of flippin, you bump that Jeezy and feel like Frank Lucas, lol.

@ real

Lil wayne wastes alot of verses recently. He says anything cause right now people just wanna hear his voice. He's overrated, but he still got flows. Im good off the feature verses, the Carter 3 is finna be craaaaazy.

Game didn't move 5 million, SO WHAT! Kingdome Come only moved about 1.5 and Game was 1+mil. The general concensus was that The Doctors Advocate was better than Kingdome Come. Hov even admitted that that last joint was ehhhhh.

WELL LOOK UP THE SCREWED UP CLICK.... im sure you heard of them, but that is in my opinion, the best collection of rappers from the south... they just not a typical rap group... they not the most perfect with delivery, or beats, but they all are on point, and Z-RO IS THE BEST RAPPER... brooklyn b.. stay real.... and have faith in the rap game man... folks say rap is dead, and the south is crap, and this and that... but when was the last time that like 15 cats who aint ringtone rapprs made upwards of 15 million??? .. rap is alive, in the west, east and south...

cassidy is iller than The Game he got more lyricism and tight ass beats that make us bump his shit in the cars

Cassidy will outsell Gay-Z easily Gay-Z is overrated motherfucka

Cassidy will go gold on the first week the way he got the streets feeling him it ain't a question

Common has the best album this year so far hands down, maybe jay needs KANYE back, real tawk. this nigga need a ghost-brainstormer for his album, i mean he can rap but he cant come up with good titles and shit to tawk about that us (youngins) can relate too, not u old spoofs. WE DONT WANT TO HEAR THIS NIGGA TAWKIN BOUT "FUCK DOMINOES/ I PLAY CHEST" type of shit. that nigga need to go to jail for a year then come out wit a album and I bet that shit BE CLASSIC, who disagree?

Oh yeah, and i see htown fake ass mike or the other one or what ever they both gay, ass still here lol.

Texas Baby!

Big Bang was a slept on Classic. That was Busta's Best album, Dre brought teh beast outta Busta that album was bangin. I Hope Jay-Z album is better than Kingdom Come. It's cool to be sophisticated, but in a sense he seemed to be just rapping without a purpose. Now u wanna hear some good music, hit the stores October 23rd and get Trae's New Album "Life Goes On" and be on the lookout for Maro.

Damn Jay Z said this line years ago and niggaz from the south took that and ran with it. Oh wait . . . the south always gave us bullshit ass lyrics. This is not the first tiime the south swagger jack somebody. The west coast was the first to throw up gang signs, now everyone is a gangsta. Just look at Jeezy and Weezy bitch asses!!! Just bow down to a coast that's greater than you, damn!!!

And NY was the first city to have hip hop culture and music period! Not the west. And aint no region better than the east. Ask anyone and they'll say the east is better. You don't need to be hot to be better. We alkl know the south of today aint better than NY that's for damn sure.

i think they need to get those new york record labels out of new york and close them down, and opean up labels in other states and find new talent. cause all the new york storys have allready been told everybody knows what gos on in new york ,and its the same shiit over and over.i wanna here talent from nj ,ct,philly,mami,and other places, even tho hip hop was started in ny doesnt mean hip hop has to revolve around ny.theirs people all over the usa that can make good hip hop .just cause something was started some where doesnt mean ny can use that and try to get more props.kinda like find out where the sport basketball was first started, than find out who won last years nba champ.no what im saying??? thats no voice on it, and also i dont think biggie and pac was the best rappers it seems like people like them cause they got shot and killed, when i think of best rappers i think of nas,wu tang,big pun,redman,eminem.

Why should hip hop not revolve around NY. It started here. Just cuz other regions get hot don't mean that NY still cant have it here. Basket ball is different buddy. That's a real sport. Body's get injured, age is a factor and all that. Rappin
