This is another joint from off of Jay-Z's Jigga's American Gangster, which features Nas, called "Success" [LISTEN]. So far, based tracks I've heard from off the album, Jay really meant it when he said this album was going to be all about the lyrics. Now maybe these other artists will follow suit...so as long as he doesn't pull another mediocre Kingdom Done. The question is, how is the younger crowd going to receive this "breath of fresh air"? Based on my observation, these younger folks are in love with the beats, not the lyrics. They like nursery rhyming, not the message or dexterity in articulation.
And this is definitely something most 90s-born kids aren't used to. Check it out. It's called "No Hook,' with a hot beat
Note: damn near every rap song has a hook. But! Not every hook makes the song.
And according to a rep at Universal, Jay-Z's philly show sold out in about 30 seconds. His L.A show sold out in 11. Interesting if not exaggerated.
Dukedagod had some things to address during his interview with HHNLive. A lot of you saw Jim Jones playing pool with Curtis and the crew on "Rap City." Well, this is what Duke had to say:
