[The second phase of T.S]
After the underground gem that was Terror Squad's 1999 debut album, and after the loss of Big Pun and the departure of Triple Seis, Cuban Link, and even recently Remy Ma, Terror Era will never be the same. Armageddon has recently said that he is "doing me right now." And even Tony Sunshine decided to pursue his own thing without the co-signing of Fat Joe. So even though there is basically no "squad" in Terror, Joe managed to get a two album deal with KOCH Records.
Aight, so I take that back. Joe says there are some new members to fill the shoes of the old Bronx squad:
"We've had major success with KOCH and the Terror Squad imprint in the past, especially with DJ Khaled's two albums. We will continue this success with this new Terror Squad deal at KOCH Records. It's a perfect place to unveil our new members."Hah. Who's gonna care about these new members? No one even cares about Fat Joe. Even though "Lean Back" was a major hit, 2004's True Story was still a sophomore jinx; it's kind of like Jim Jones' situation, where one hit defined your entire career. And how do you surpass the status of a major Billboard hit... that still couldn't save you? But the general manager at KOCH, Alan Grunblatt, remains optimistic:
"I signed Fat Joe to his first record deal in 1992 when I was at Relativity. I am thrilled to be working with Joe again, and continuing our relationship with Terror Squad and DJ Khaled. We've had great success this year!"We'll see.
The kid DJ Sucio Smash-- protege of the legendary Bobbito and current co-host of the late Thursday night Squeeze Radio Show-- is using his ten-year experience with the music industry to push his label, High Water Music, far above the current status quo: old talent, gimmicks, and manufactured ringtone success.
Instead of scouting out old news, Sucio is zeroing in on fresh faces that will help to carry High Water Music's brand to the next level.
Sucio is still in the process of seeking out and signing new talent to High Water Music, but currently, the roster for the label includes artists such as S.O.U.L Purpose (shout out to Mazzi aka the Record Breaker), Fresh Daily, Sputnik Brown, the highly anticipated second installment to DJ Spinna's Heavy Beats Volume I, and a collaborative LP between Oh No and Breeze Brewin' (Juggaknots).

Although cats seem to diss him we have to give him his respect because he's been doing it for through various phases in this rap game. When the game wasn't showing NYC no love he adjusted & weathered the trends.
The music industry is nothing more than a game of patience & if the team would have been patient & practiced good timing they could all win.

Fat Joe did not "sign" a 2 album deal with KOCH. KOCH and all "indie" labels are nothing but distributors. Anybody can join them. All they ask is that you have a strong marketing plan and good music. It's not like signing to Interscope and getting paid $2 million for signing.

As for Dame, I really think its time for him to move on and I would kill to see him and Jay rekindle their friendship. I know Dame took everything personally, but he was compensated for his work with the Roc. You're wrong about Koch records. They are a conventional record label, however they just don't put up multi-million dollar deals (knowing universal, its probably in the tens or lower hundreds of thousands for most artists), and attempt to limit costs by keeping promotion budgets low. The spin off is that artists claim a larger percentile off sales revenue once the break even point for the project has been met.
What your talking about is when artists link up a deal with Koch distribution wing, thats separate entity of the same business.
Secondly, Joe until recently about a year ago was negatively geared, because he invested in alot of property in Florida. He was worth (like 2 years ago) about 8 million dollars, considering the money inefficient boricuas, he's done ok. I think at this point he is worth closer to 11 (give or take like 200k, on what i heard).

Hey smart guy, KOCH is a distributor. You can call them up yourself and if you can prove that you can sell records, they'll distribute for you. All they do is put your cd in stores they have deals with. They don't cut you a check for ANYTHING.

2) The truth is, Dame blackballed himself. Dame was an abusive asshole, but people were forced to deal with him because he was Jay-Z's business partner. As soon as he lost that leveraging point, karma swung back around. Kevin Liles Lyor Kohen - hated him. Steve Stoute - hated him. Dude has burned all his bridges in the record industry. There was a recent article on AHH.com with Da Ranjahs - dude was telling how Jay helped him out with a deal elsewhere because his manager hated Dame. He even went on to say how nobody got along with Dame back then. Dude was a dick, and he's paying for it now.
3) With all this talk about Jay-Z being shady, no one mentions how Dame fired a bunch of people and made Cam'ron (his personal friend) Vice President without even consulting his business partner. Cam'ron had no previous experience running a record label, and he had only been at the Roc for one album. He clearly wasn't qualified for the promotion anyways.
4) When it was actually time to split, Jay-Z offered to give Dame everything - full ownership of the label and all of the masters - in exchange for Reasonable Doubt (Dame admitted this in the XXL). Dame and Biggs knew how much the album meant to him, so they tried to use it as leverage. It backfired, and Jay-Z got back at his ass.
