Cam'ron Fools the Public! Styles P. on His Album & The Lox, Drag-on Signs with Swizz, + Diddy Talks Ciroc

Remember that video of Cam'ron driving off in a black car just last week? It turns out that the whole thing was a set up. In this video-- which is part of a promotional stunt for his upcoming mixtape-- you'll not only see that particular clip from last week, but you'll see the same "paparazzo" dude following Cam around. He's even driving alongside Cam on the freeway in one scene, and then captures Cam with some busted-up hoodrat chick with a nappy ponytail. After he squeezes her butt they dip off in a cabbie. Then there's the army fatigue scene. What a clown.

Where's Cam ? The Video

Add to My Profile | More Videos

Haha. What's funny is that this prankster sent the first video right over to MTV as if it was some breaking discovery. And they believed it. I wont front though. So did I. But wait... did they? Nah... they did.

The mixtape should be out November 7th.

Things are really looking up for Styles P.

After years of blackballing and all that good label stuff, Supa Gangsta, Extrodinary Gentlemen, which Styles describes a "street-level hip-hop in its rawest form," will be released December 4th via KOCH.

"I always work, to tell you the truth," Styles told Billboard. "I would say I made three albums between (2006's) Time Is Money and this one."

With this one, Styles is bringing collaborations with artists such as Ghostface, Black Thought, Max B., and Akon. He told Billboard that he hopes to do some promo shows to help awareness for the album to surpass cyberspace boundaries.

Jadakiss confirmed The Lox's deal with Def Jam a while back during an interview at a North Carolina radio station, and Styles had the latest on the trio:

"We've got a good amount of songs. It's the same direction we always go in -- 100 percent pure hip-hop electricity. You'll hear a lot of songs on each one of our solo albums preparing you for The Lox album. We've kept [the album] strictly [The Lox] so far but we'll see as it goes on."
This album is currently in the works for a 2008 second or third quarter release date. But Sheek's latest solo project-- scheduled for a first quarter release in the '08-- will precede the group's effort.

Check out the video trailer for Styles' "Blow Ya Mind," which features Swizz Beatz.

Speaking of Swizz, it looks like he reached out to a former Ruff Ryder for old time's sake. Those were the good days, weren't they?

drag-ON.jpg

Drag-on is now a part of the Full Surface family, a transition that comes almost two months after the release of his indie project Hood Environment. The 26-year-old has also launched his own label.... Hood Environment.

Sources say that as of late, Drag-on has been in the lab working on new material.

"This will give me a chance to bring in new talent and give others a chance to shine as well," Drag-on stated. "My label is gonna be 100% with hard music for the streets. This time I'm the CEO and I know what the people want. Hood Environment the CD in stores now! Swizz Beatz CD in stores now! Cassidy coming! Support real music we do this from the heart."

Hope all goes well. That "Down Bottom" will always be that piff, though.

The kid Mikey Fresh is at it again. Props for sending these over. This is an interview with Diddy (I won't call him P. Sh*tty out of consideration for my fam lol), and he's talking about sippin, music's content, and other things:

-
good to see Styles with some possitive news. Blow My Mind is cool.

50 ended Cam's career.

Cam'ron's the clown? He made MTV and every rap website blog about spotting cam, while it was all part of his plan to promote his mixtape and he's the clown?

50 Cent has accused fellow rapper Nas of just trying to sell more records by calling his new album ‘N*gger.’

As previously reported on Gigwise, Nas changed the name of his forthcoming album from ‘N*gga’ to ‘N*gger’ because he said that he wanted to take the power out of the world.

50 Cent has now hit out at both the rapper and his forthcoming album title, branding the title “a stupid name.”

He said: "Nas sucks. It's nonsense, man. That's a stupid name. It doesn't make sense. Why would you title it that?"

Scheduled for release in December, 50 Cent added that the title is just part of a marketing scheme, reports yahoomusic.

"You helped him out because you asked me [about it], and people who are interested in me would like to hear the answer,” he said. “But other than that, there's nothing interesting in that. It's just for shock value."

Nas Marketing schemes>>>his last 2 albums

October 25, 2007 11:15 AM

Alot of artists use marketing schemes to push more units

Kanye used 50 Cent
T.I. used the ATL movie for the King album
T.I. started fights and apologized saying it was his alter ego fault to promote the Tip VS T.I Cd
PZ uses God
Jay Z is currently using the American Gangsta movie to promote his album
50 starts stupid beefs with other rappers
Kiesha Cole is using the BET show to to push units for this and her last albums
Pimp C started talking reckless to promote the UGK
Nas uses dumb ass album names
Chamillionaire and Master P stopped cursing to push more units
Jeezy and USDA tried to use White Girls to promote they shit
Lil Kim spreaded her legs

The list goes on and on

@ slum lord

But nobody named they album the most offensive word in our language, like that shit is gonna change something. Nas just wants to cause controversy for his album, just like last time.

And isnt it ironic that Chamillionaire and P stopp cussing to "sell more records", but both them niggas flopped?

Theres a difference between promotion/marketing and doing stupid shit for attention.

@Bobby

Yeah man...it's all good music that I mess with it. I see it like this, if the point is to turn the world onto this music with a message, then it's gotta be top notch. We deal in excellence...nothing less. Naturally, people got preferences...but nobody can say the music's "wack" and not be a liar.

And ey...if you email that address with your work email, I'll forward you a track right now. Just a "for example." I did have your email address but been lost it.

Naw...it ain't ironic. The simple fact that you ain't understandin is that them dudes didn't quit cussin for marketing or promotion, to even think that was the reason why makes you a dum dum by default.
-
They did it because in they heart they feel that it is the right thing to do, and they stepped out against the grain and did it regardless of what it meant to record sales. Cuz they did it 1) because they feel it can help make a difference and 2) they love the music.
-
Unlike 95% of your favorite rappers lickin balls just to get on and say the same stupid mess the next man, and the man before him, and the man before him and the man before him been sayin the whole time.

Yall won't believe this, there is a U.S. PATENTED CURE FOR AIDS on the U.S. Government patents website.

go to http://patft.uspto.gov/netahtml/PTO/srchnum.htm and type in 5676977 (the patent number) and you will find out the reason aids is more than "just some virus that started in monkey's." I'm not dumb enough to believe that

Your crazy if you think Master P didn't do that for promotion. Just look at the timing of it; when Al Sharpton and Bill O'Reily was (and still is) trying to hate on rap lyrics all of a sudden Master P wants to stop cursing!!! Nigga Please. And he flopped because nobody has been buying Master P music for a minute. He figured if he'd take the "righteous" route he would move a few more units than usual.

Also he re-released Ghetto D the same time his "no cursing" album dropped so that shit was a gimmick that backf ired.

@ Kush

Odb had - Nigga Please
Pac had - Stickly for my NIgga

There's countless song titles with the word.

And on the allhiphop.com rumors section, illseed was saying they had movies back in the day with the same title

Was it crystal clear like the Soul Plane or the Pursuit of Happiness bootlegs? If so I will be paying my favorite african a visit today!!

@PZ

you're a chump if you don't think master p's whole "i'm not cursing anymore" shit wasn't a pure gimmick. He is about making as much money as possible BELIEVE THAT. There is definitely a movement going on right now trying "reign in" black culture (Nooses getting put up everywhere you turn while the media refuses to treat it like anything serious, campaigns forcing you to wear your pants like Urkel in Dallas) and Master P's "I'm a man of god and I don't curse" thing is an attempt to cash in on that.

@ Pz

Its about the LACK OF CREATIVITY. If you dont wanna curse then dont. But dont act like that makes your music better or some shit. I like progressive music, but i dont like gimmicks. A couple years ago P was the "cookie monster" and before that "the ice cream man", and his kids was still on tv in private schools and rich. He just wants to sell records, and he sees the backlast agaisnt offensive rap music. Just because you use the n word doesnt mean you wanna save the world, it means you wanna offend middle class and white america. Nas has a message, but he isnt MLK. He could go about educatin niggas without callin his album the n word.

Also stop hatin on Killa, 50 aint do nothin to stop the dips other than get Jim to out himself. Killa Season was a brick before 50 got involved. Cam got the whole internet talkin bout "Where's Cam" a week before he's puttin out a mixtape thats gona b fire cuz the boy can spit like it or not. Props to Jigga all day but that American Gangsta cd is soundin kinda boring real talk.

@ PZ and Kush City

We'll be able to tell who went clean for money and who did because their hearts was in it on the next albums. Both of them flopped, so if they weren't sensere, they'll go back to their old ways. I feel like Master P is real with his. My boy that works at Reagan Int Airport took a pick with P, and he looks like a average dude with kids and a family. I think Cham was pushed more to go clean. But then again, he never really cursed much when he was still underground.

Unless he can find a time machine and go back to the way he was rhyming on SDE, his career IS over. His style now is trash (pookey-ookie, dookie-stookie, rammie-sammie, dammie-cammie) That's what his crap sounds like. And that aint got ISH to do with Jim, Jay or Fif!!!
